Everyone from front desk to dental assistants to doctors are very good with children. I previously took all 3 of my kids to one of those chain children's dentists that work off of volume and strap them down for a procedure which caused my oldest so much anxiety even when taking X-rays or cleanings. The doctors here were very understanding and reassured us that they do not use those methods. The office is clean and we never have to wait for our appointment as they honor the time they booked us for. Coming from those dental offices that book you for an appointment and you still wait an hour or more to be seen, this amazing! I am relieved that I finally found a safe place for my children. Amazing staff! My daughter is fearful of the dentist chair (she won't say why) but nurse Stephanie was so patient and sweet to her. She was able to go on the chair and get her teeth cleaned and examined! Dr Carroll is so nice and sweet too. My daughter didn't want the fluoride but Dr Carroll talked her way through it! When we got back to the car, my daughter said next time I'm going to do better sitting on the chair! I'm so happy she's feeling confident after her visit. This office is brilliant. Unfortunately, my kids are now too big to really enjoy how they cater to young children with games, TVs, toy closet and even the cutest little child sized door. They are so gentle with the kids, which is much appreciated especially for my nervous younger child. My kids actually do not fear the dentist. As the daughter of a dentist (out of state), I have to say that this is a truly great atmosphere and I'm not looking forward to the day I need to find them an adult dentist. We absolutely love Dr. Shari Carroll's office! My kids get excited to go to the dentist! That's how fun the office is. The waiting room is amazing, it's practically like a kids museum. There are so many fun things to do while waiting. It's also extremely clean and tidy. We have never had to wait for more than a minute or two once we arrive for our appointments. My kids love that when we go to the back that there's a little door just for kids to enter through, it's a really cute touch. They also love picking out the flavor of their toothpaste, and they love that they get to pick a movie to watch while they're in the chair. The office is so bright and colorful and fun and beyond perfect for kids. The best part is each child can pick a prize from the prize closet at the end of their appointment. Amazing office. It was so well-designed that kids would totally forget they are here for dental check. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They sent out text messages and emails to do a pre-check in and appointment reminders with clear directions. Dr.Shari is very experienced with kids crying. Our son was not cooperative and screaming everyone's ear off, Dr. Shari still managed to clean most of his teeth. After the appointment is done, she patiently explained some things regarding toddlers dental health. Just as we thought it's done, she told our son to go out and pick a toy! It was a magical cabinet full of toys. Suddenly he forgot why he was crying and excitedly picked his first dental check "trophy"! This office totally makes toddler dental appointment so much less stressful, on the way home, he was all happy playing with his trophy toy. Several days later, we got a big bill -- just kidding! Took our 4 year-old and 17-month old for a check-up and a first appointment. We tried a different pediatric dentist but didn't really vibe with the office--so glad to have found this new practice, because Dr. Nicole and staff were absolutely lovely. Admittedly, we were a bit of a mess with the insurance (totally not their fault, it was on our end with Delta Dental), being late, etc. and not the easiest patients to deal with, but they were so helpful every step of the way. The level of care, concern, and kindness from everyone in the front of the office to the assistant Maricela was amazing. I really appreciated how thorough Dr. Nicole was in explaining my son's situation (he's missing some teeth) and gave recommendations on oral care with no judgment or scare tactics like some healthcare professionals resort to. As a parent, I felt totally supported by them, and most importantly I knew that my kids were in safe hands here. Dr. Shari and the team came highly recommended by my friend, and I know why. We recently had to find a new dentist for our two-year-old twins because their previous dentist was no longer a preferred provider with our insurance company. We loved our previous dentist and didn't think we would be able to find someone equally awesome, but we were definitely wrong. Enter Dr. Carroll... As soon as we walked into the office, there was a personalized sign welcoming our kids to the office. Such a thoughtful touch! The office is super fun and the kids loved playing in the waiting room. My daughter loved the light peg wall, my son loved the bubble wall, and I found the small door for the children to enter through completely adorable. They really thought of every little detail when designing the office. Dr. Carroll and her staff were all very kind and patient with the kids. They took the time to explain what they were doing at each step, and enticed them with "tooth sparkles" and chocolate fluoride. Pretty sure the kids would go back every day if we let them. Dr. Shari performed a lip and tongue tie release by laser on my little one when she was only 4 weeks old. We had initial consult first, where Dr. Shari confirmed the ties, asked about the breastfeeding difficulties and nursing symptoms I was experiencing, and explained the surgery and that we would have to do stretches afterwards. She videoed the stretches & showed them on us so that we would know how they felt and how much pressure to put during the stretches. We had a great experience here, and would recommend it to anyone! I brought my daughter in a few months ago after some mediocre experiences at other practices in the beach cities. Dr. Carroll's office is in a great location, looks clean and modern and feels warm and inviting. But the highlight of the visit was meeting with Dr. Nicole. As a healthcare professional I know there are certain interpersonal skills necessary for work in this industry that aren't necessarily taught in school. Dr. Nicole has mastered these skills. She is clearly an expert in her field, but she was also able to explain everything that was going on in a way that my young daughter could understand. On the way home my daughter would not stop talking about how she wants to go back and one day wants to be a dentist like Dr. Nicole (yes, representation matters, even in the often homogenous beach cities). I'm sure the other docs are great, but just FYI Dr. Nicole is not in the office every day, so make sure to book early if you want to see her! read more

I went to Dr.Carroll after struggling for 3 weeks with breastfeeding my newborn. He had seen 4 doctors prior and no one could explain why his latch was so painful. I was recommended by my lactation consultant to see Dr.Carroll. I called at 9am one morning and explained to the front office staff that I was having 10/10 pain with breastfeeding and was recommended to come in for a consultation to see if baby had a tongue tie. They booked me an appointment for 10am that same day. Dr. Carroll was so nice and loving. The way she held my newborn let me know just how much passion she has for what she does. She examined him and showed me his tongue tie and lip tie! After applying a tiny bit of local anesthesia, She did the revision that same day! After the revision my son was asleep in her arms. No crying. No bleeding. He was able to nurse an hour later and wasn't fussy. She had us come in every few days for follow-ups to assure that he was healing properly. When we "graduated" she gave us clear instructions on how to assure my son would continue to recover/heal well and how to prepare and care for his new teeth. It took 2 weeks after the revision and working with a lactation consultant to finally get to a place where both me and my son could enjoy breastfeeding. I am so happy I went to her and I look forward to returning once my son has teeth :) Tips/good to know: the price for the revision included follow up appointments, she has a room for babies that's clean and separated from toddler patients, all staff are very comfortable with newborns, coffee machine in the waiting room, bathroom is very clean and has changing table and items you may need, there is meter parking on the streets or free garage parking attached to the building, the beach is a block away so great to go for a walk before or after appointment. read more

No wonder she has such stellar reviews- her office is AMAZING for kids. I've been stalling on finding a dentist and bringing my little guy in (just under 3 years old), but I kept seeing these amazing reviews for Dr. Carroll. I called them and set up an appointment. Walking in, they had a welcome sign with my child's name on it- super personalized. Their office is so bright and cheery, they have a basket of toys, puzzles, cars, AND a cool light wall that my toddler just didn't want to leave. Go into the back, and they have a separate little kid door JUST for kids to walk through. Super cute. In their rooms, they're all decorated kid-friendly and cozy. TV screens are mounted on the ceilings, so they can show your kid's favorite movie or show while they're getting their teeth cleaned. The technician spoke so well to my boy, showed and explained to him everything she was doing and what all the instruments were. Enter Dr. Carroll, equally warm and welcoming. I was so afraid that my kid wouldn't sit still in the chair, but he was perfect! At the end, they gave him a goody bag filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and other things PLUS gave him a balloon PLUS walked him over to a giant closet that had shelves full of small tinker toys that he could choose from. Is it all over the top? Maybe. But when your kid is young, and going to the dentist can be a scary thing (I STILL hate going to the dentist myself), every little touch and detail matters. My kid had such a great time at their office, he asked if we could go again the next day! Plus a few weeks later, we received a nice handwritten note from Dr. Carroll thanking us for coming in. Wow talk about patient, sweet, caring, she explained every single thing to my little guy who was at the dentist for the 1st time. Made sure he knew all the steps b4 they happened and introduced him to all the equipment she was going to be using and explained what it was for. She for sure is the tooth fairy. The waiting area has a huge wall-mounted lite bright, toys, comfortable seating, and complimentary la croix and coffee for parents! There's even a child sized door next to the adult door to go back to the exam room. My kids LOVED that touch. Each exam room has bright walls with surfboard TVs mounted on the ceilings for kids to watch their chosen movie during treatment. Dr. Carroll tastes every single thing she uses and chooses only the best, most kid-friendly flavors for her polishes and fluoride treatments. My kids chose chocolate. Esti did an amazing job polishing and flossing the kids and making them feel comfy and loved. She is extremely warm and put my previously dental-phobic daughter at ease during her x-rays. They got pics of every tooth and my daughter actually enjoyed the experience. I was amazed. They also have a handheld camera to use on kids who need to lie down for x-rays. My son was able to zone out and watch his movie while Dr. Carroll took his pics herself. I was also super impressed by how much time Dr. Carroll took with me to explain everything she was doing and what my kids teeth looked like/needed. She is so knowledgeable. Wow. I have TWIN 3 year olds and we went to the dentist. First time visit - and I was completely blown away by this office. The location was super convenient with free underground parking in the building. We went up an elevator and walked around the side of the building to enter through the main doors- don't miss this because there is a BUBBLE wall and a little welcome sign that had my kids names on it! Set the tone for the whole experience which was a WIN. We were welcomed, front desk staff was amazing and already called my girls by their names, made a big deal of how great the visit was going to be and invited them to play with the LIGHT WALL and race car track. Lots of awesome books and little toys too, and a table with some touch games on it. Office as impeccably clean and beautiful. Can not hear any dental equipment sounds at all. We were welcomed in by Dr. Carroll and we went to the open air treatment chairs, the staff and Dr. Carroll were BEYOND AMAZING with kids. Took tons of time to show them each part of the process. They were exactly what I had been searching for from a pediatric dentist. We got full check ups, teeth cleanings, fluoride varnish, and a trip to the toy closet. (they are THREE years old!! I had no idea they would be able to do all this) The open air chair situation. WOW. If you have twins, this is a game changer. We took two chairs, had simultaneous cleanings, then Dr. Carrolls exams done, and fluoride on in no time. We didn't have to debate who went first, who got which movie (They have flat screens mounted on the celling with headphones) etc. Dr. Carroll is so easy going, and she has a lot of options for kids with sensory struggles or dental anxiety, she asked how we wanted to set up the appointment. She also was open to going one at a time, same chair, two chairs, etc. A really welcoming way to give us some options. Dr. Carroll was so through and walked me through a discussion on proper toothpaste selection and some tips for each child's oral care. She was very open to questions and treated my girls so kindly. I hope we never need her for a dental emergency, but I sure am glad we have someone we can count on now if that need should arise. I have been bringing my daughter to Dr Shari for over a years. I think she is wonderful. They had my kids names on a welcome board when we arrived! And the waiting room was pretty amazing compared to the office I went to as a kid...lol. They had a bubble wall and a giant lite brite. They also had a little small door next to the regular door that was just for kids to use. They have surfboards on the ceiling with TVs for the kids. anyways, aside from the office, I am very happy having Dr Shari for my kids.
