PureLux Haircare Salon in Irvine is a sister location to their SGV shop, and I really like their concept. It's basically like a "hair car wash" !! Hahaha. The salon is by appointment only -- and once you check in you are given a private room along with robe to change. The price is a little bit steep. It feels over the top but heck, a girl got to be a girl!! :)) The staff were friendly and explained the process along the way.The service begin with a pre- and post-picture of your scalp. WHO knew technology highlighting the health of your scalp can be such a business?! The attendant sets up the massage chair and then immediately starts pre-rinsing your hair. The attendant focus on deep cleansing the scalp and removing buildup, and my hair felt really light and refreshed afterward (like 3 cycles of washing). Again, I never knew washing hair can be such an ordeal -- an hour full washing or conditioning and all while enjoying a massage service. Afterwards, they offer you a hot tea and promotion package or items that you can purchase If you're looking for something beyond a regular shampoo or haircut, this is a great spot to treat your scalp and hair. I got the full package for ~$200 + tip which come with a neck massage and is 30 mins longer. They let me upgrade last minute. You have to put $20 on your credit card to reserve the spot. This was my first head/scalp spa so I didn't know what to expect. Everyone was really nice. They have u change into a robe and garment that leaves the shoulders exposed. They take you out to the mirrors and do a close up on your scalp. Then in a private room you sit down on a full body massage chair and recline all the way so you're flat on your back where they put your head in a sink and get a scalp massage. Towards the end they steam you. After that, they sit you in front of the mirror and put oxygen on your scalp blue/red light and then a crazy neck massage with oil and what felt like hot stones but i could see it was really a machine. I laid down in the full body massage chair while the hair service took place. Wash, rinse, and repeat! The scalp massage and gua sha on the scalp felt incredible. Had an absolutely wonderful experience here for my girlfriend's 40th birthday. It's a bit of a splurge (we did the deluxe, hour and a half scalp treatment), but it was worth every penny. They start you off with a scalp diagnosis (super gross) and then you go into your private suite to change and go through the first part of the experience in the water bowl. They used many scraping tools, head massagers, hair and scalp treatments. While my girl was heavy handed, it was firm pressure and she asked me a few times about the pressure, which I appreciated. I know my friend said hers was too rough and the technician did not ask her- just to keep in mind. After that treatment they take you out to what looks like a hair salon chair and you go through a few more water based, hydrating scalp treatments and red and blue light therapy before they blow dry you. When you arrive, they start with a scalp scan to assess your scalp's health and recommend a treatment based on their findings. The two choices were 60 minutes for $138 or 90 minutes for $198. I went with the 90 minute session. You're reclined in a comfortable massage chair while they work on your scalp. The treatment was so soothing and euphoric that I actually fell asleep. My scalp felt amazing afterwards. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing experience. The only downside for me was the language barrier. This spa is completely different from any spas I've ever been to because here they offer a spa treatment for your scalp! The best thing about the experience is how relaxing and comfortable the reclining chairs are while you get a hair wash because they have full body massage feature so the whole time you're getting massaged. As for the actual experience first they show you how much build up there is in your scalp before starting the treatment and once it's done there's another showing of the scalp that's amazingly clean so you see it actually works. You also get a mini blow out in the end and it's safe to go out or come back to work right after this treatment. There are 2 options for the scalp treatments and I recommend getting the 90 minute one to get the full exp. Super Disappointed in our experience unfortunately. My mom asked what I wanted for my birthday and I wanted us to come here and treat ourselves. I now it's pricey but after an amazing experience at the San Gabriel location, I felt safe booking here. We got checked in and all that just fine. We got into our robes and a wrap towel and it all started fine. Got into the room. The bed was nice enough. The massage bed was kind of agressive at times but was fine enough The part I was most excited for was the scalp massage and hair washing. At the San Gabriel one I almost fell asleep. It was so relaxing and nice to have my hair just played with and my head massaged with the water. This one, she scraped from my hair line back to the middle of my head for most of the time in there. There was a little massaging but mostly her scraping this thing on my head and it didn't feel good and then she would like run her fingers out of my hair and pull it. I was so thankful when she switched sides because it was unconfortable. At some point, that stopped and she just left the room. For like 7-10 minutes it felt like... long time to just be like what is going on and the door wasn't closed either. My head was so raw when we got out to the chairs. I was excited for the shoulder massage but she used barely any pressure and it was awkward being out around everyone The serums she put on my head actually tingled and burned because my scalp was so raw. My head hurt until the next afternoon. Just a lot of money to be uncomfortable. My mom wasn't very happy with hers either. Said the table massage was really uncomfortable for her and she didn't feel like she was massaged much bit rather scraped for a long time. Oh well, just super disappointed. I put so much time and energy into making this happen only for us to spend almost $400 and not be happy... guess I learned my lesson. So bummed. read more

Came here for a 60 minute head spa treatment. They take you back to a room and you change into a strapless top. They also provide a robe for you to wear over. I liked that so my clothes didn't get wet. They start with pictures of your scalp condition. Not a lot of explaining on what's going on other than gunk you are visibly seeing for yourself. The treatment itself was very relaxing in a private room- not gonna lie I fell asleep. The massage chair is not built for small 5'1" women so be careful where the massage chair is kneading and massaging. Afterwards they show you changes to your scalp. Again other than visibly seeing the cleanliness and changes there isn't a lot of in depth discussion of what is going on with your scalp or how to treat it. Afterwards they dry your hair and have hot tea and snacks. Not really styling more than just drying. Pretty relaxing experience. I also appreciated they didn't upsell me on any products- although they did mention the membership packages but didn't feel pressured to commit. My hair did feel noticeably cleaner/healthier for at least a week or two. Definitely will return! read more
