The treatment part of my experience was lovely. My hair and scalp feel nice. The fact that the spa does not leave you with a proper blow dry completely killed the vibe & left me extremely disappointed! After an hour of treating my hair and scalp, I left with my hair looking dull and frizzy. Came here for my bday with my bestie. We went to another place in the past and wanted to try a new scalp spa. Located in a shopping center, we were greeted and they were aware of my bday and sang happy bday to me with a cute moon pie, super nice touch. The spa was nice and had higher end equipment like a massage chair to lay in and other things vs the last place I went. They show you what your scalp looks like before and after and honestly it's super hard to tell what you're looking at lol they do some interesting things that may help your hair after like oxygen and something else but regardless if any of this will help my hair grow it was relaxing .... read more

I haven't been to the other locations but this location as private rooms so that was really nice. I chose to do the 90 minute scalp massage and it was amazing. They have robes and slippers for you to change into. They started with my scalp analysis, then the massage and then we moved over to the sink bowl where they washed my hair and did more scalp massaging. Had a really unpleasant experience here today. I had a lot of burning pain from some of the scalp products and the technician was unable to communicate in English. She had to get managers to try and help me, and the managers also don't speak the language of the technician, so she put the same bad product on me again. When someone is making contact with your skin, communication is necessary. When I was checking out (no discount for the awful experience) the manager said they only have a few technicians who speak English and I have to specifically request an English speaking technician. In addition to the painful products, the whole experience was awkward and not as luxury as you would hope. They don't cover your eyes, the lights are bright, half the time is sitting in the salon chair... There are some really great scalp spas in the area, so this will be my one and only visit to PureLux. read more

First of all, after reading all the reviews on Yelp before I scheduled my appointment, I specifically requested Olivia , who specializes in curly hair AND who speaks English ( Apparently not all the technicians are able to communicate or understand English). The setting Is beautifully appointed: clean, luxurious and calming. Olivia is lovely and really enjoys her work, well mannered and eager to please. However, $165 including a 20% gratuity for a glorified 60 minute shampoo is not an expense that I can justify or recommend. I spend way less than that on a two hour manicure and pedicure, which I find much more relaxing. I was gifted this as a birthday present by a thoughtful and generous friend. And I was under the impression that I had a lot of buildup that needed exfoliation on my scalp. The camera revealed that my scalp was very healthy however a little bit inflamed, and I requested a calming scalp treatment. First of all the bed was poorly designed and very uncomfortable. You are laying completely flat with no support under your knees, so if you have the slightest low back issues, good luck. I had to keep my legs bent the whole time plus the bed is designed for someone taller. I am only 5'3" it was uncomfortable, and the massage apparatus was very irritating. I had to have it turned off halfway through the treatment. I was most looking forward to the red light therapy on my scalp because I use red light therapy a few times a week on my face and see great results in reducing inflammation and firming and toning the skin. However, the red light therapy treatment was less than 2 or 3 minutes with a handheld device that was moved around my scalp so no more than 20 seconds at the most on each area. That does nothing to help the tissues. It was gratuitous at best. So the final camera view revealed that my scalp was slightly more inflamed at the end of the treatment from all the vigorous rubbing Also, I had to teach Olivia how to blow out my bangs because she didn't really have much experience styling hair even though she was a licensed cosmetologist. I get massages and facials regularly and am a licensed massage therapist and aesthetician with 20 + years experience and I work at a very high-end Day spa. I know what a relaxing treatment is supposed to feel like. I would not waste my time on money on this experience again. read more
