I hosted a private event at Purgatory Cellars and couldn't have asked for a better experience! Marco and Ivanka were fantastic in helping me plan and host the party and people raved about the wines! I personally love the orange wine. The ambiance was perfect for this gathering and had enough space for people to move around but, still felt cozy. We had two tables in the back to set up food and it worked out perfect! I would definitely host here again... or simply stop in for some delicious wine. read more

I wish, oh how I wish, that I could put into words how fabulous Purgatory Cellars Winery is. You would never know from driving past, but it is an atmosphere that you absolutely want to be a part of. The only true recommendation that I can make is that upon your first visit it is a MUST to do the tasting. It is much more affordable than most at $15 for 5, 1oz samples. && if you are new to wine or simply ready to learn more about the art of wine drinking, ask Ivanka to select the tastings for you as you go. She is engaged and delighted to lead you towards what could be your new favorite wine. This experience can take 30 minutes or several hours depending on the enthusiasm that you bring and your level of engagement. Amazing! I stopped in because of a meet up. Cutest little cellar and the owners are super helpful and nice. I had a recommendation to try their white Bordeaux blend and it was amazing. I also had their black Moscato. All really good and they had a good variety of wine options and this is a great place to try a variety of wines and it was a nice cozy atmosphere. I would definitely come back here and it's a great place to bring some friends or your partner. Oh and they had a great deal with buy 2 wines get 1 free. I have been here a couple times now. The place has extensive hours of operation, so that makes it rather convenient to drop by. The Purgatory tasting room has been open since April. Since I don't visit Elk Mountain Brewery as much as I used to, it was a pleasant surprise to find this place on the other end of the building. Marko and Ivanka are the couple who own and run this place. On my visits here, I have very much enjoyed talking with them. The interior here is beautiful. Everything is done in tasteful woods with solid chairs, tables, and leather couches. Indeed, Marko actually built a significant amount of the furniture. He explained to me how he rubbed the wood with beeswax three separate times to get such a smooth finish. It was hard to keep from caressing the furniture while drinking the wine. As for the wine itself, I enjoyed pretty much everything I had. The prices for a flight of wine are quite reasonable considering how many one gets to sample. I honestly did not try one that I did not enjoy. However, I found the Malbec and the Petite Sirah to be particularly to my liking among the Reds. As for the Whites, I liked the Chardonnay so much that I took a bottle of it to a party. I also enjoyed the Riesling, and the very sweet and delicious Ice Wine must be tried. Parker is lucky to have such a fine winery rubbing shoulders with their oldest brewery. read more

Best wine I've tasted in a long time and the Croatian storybook tail of how far things have traveled is outstanding! You have to try it out! We happened across it on accident when going to the top Yelp reviewed Elk Mountain Brewery. Definitely going to make this a place to come back to. What a fun experience! I kept thinking this was just a wine shop. It's so much more! They actually make the wine on site, offer tasting, and have a wine bar. The setting is very cozy & intimate. Yet they offer 40 or so wines. The staff is passionate about their craft. They are very excited to walk you through their entire process start to finish, & generous with tastings. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Gary & Eric while I was there. They were happy to guide me through & teach about the wines. They pride themselves on having an authentic European approach & styled wines while using locally sourced grapes. Trust me, you will taste the difference. This place wasn't too bad. The man behind the bar was very friendly and knew his wine, and did a great job explaining each particular wine. The look of the winery is unique too, it really wasnt what I expected in this little office park/strip mall. Some of the wine appeared to be overpriced, but nothing too bad, but there was something that did leave a bad taste in my mouth. The night before we actually stopped in we tried to stop by before our family left town. We called earlier in the day and they said they were open until 9pm and that is also what appears on their door. We stopped in on a Wednesday night a little before 8:30pm and the doors were locked and they had clearly been closed for quite a while. As a business, you can do whatever you want, but it was pretty disappointing. read more

Some may be silly to think that this was all I was poured but fear not! Not only was I poured an appropriate amount of this AMAZING Cabernet Sauvignon ice wine (my sweet tooth and palette were throughly satisfied), but I also didn't get a chance to take a picture before I had already nearly drank it all- silly me. We love this place! The atmosphere is amazing, music is great, the wine is clutch and the memories are endless! If you don't get a chance to visit this place any time soon you're missing out! We have been to Purgatory several times now and area always impressed with the wines there. The owners Marko & Ivanka are so much fun to talk to and learn about the passion they pour into their wines. (Pun intended!) We love doing tastings and then buying a glass of our favorite to enjoy in the unexpectedly beautiful interior of this strip mall winery. Marco is also an excellent carpenter and we enjoy seeing what new addition he has made to the shop. You can order food to be delivered, bring it yourself or eat off of the food truck that is in front of Elk Mountain Brewery right next door. I think you'll be surprised at the complexity of these wines, most Colorado wines are too fruity and sweet for me but Purgatory wines are the real deal. read more

I wanted to echo my latest visit to the Parker location several weeks ago which I visited with my Girlfriend and friends who were visiting the location for the first time. We were really put off by the approach of the person serving us on the evening. The gentleman wasn't welcoming at all, no warmness and it times rude towards my girlfriend with his tone in answering questions. I've previously visited the location and Marko was amazing, he even showed us around the tanks in the back and let us sample the champagne! This even made us purchase bottles on that first visit. However the recent experience I'm afraid to say will probably be the last for a while and I'm afraid our friends didn't like the experience as well..... it's a huge shame as your wine is delicious. But customer service and interaction has to be on point every time. read more

I'll start off by saying all the wine I tasted was pretty good. The young girl who works there was probably high as a kite. The only thing she did was play on her phone and lay her head on the bar while looking at her phone. My wife and I ordered a glass of wine and the stoned girl gave us about 2 ounces of wine and called that a glass. The owner is very knowledgable and friendly. My husband and I love this place! Welcoming atmosphere, friendly owner, beautifully decorated! Great wines and very reasonable prices. We drive up from Colorado Springs to come here because it's worth the drive. Not many places have such a good variety of whites, reds, and sweets! I usually prefer whites but am getting into reds after my last trip to Napa and they were able to help me pick some according to my prefer. My husband is still just getting into wine so he likes that they have stuff for him as well. It's also the first time I've seen ice wine in the states! I had it in Canada and have been looking for it ever since! We joined the "sinners" wine club which gives us 2 bottles of wine a month. I like that we can choose our bottles. Pulling in to a parking lot looking for a brewery and finding a winery next door is one of the best and worst ideas ever. We love our wine and were excited to discover this little gem. The owner was pouring some wines and even had a half price special on glasses of Malbec, which happens to be one of our favorites. After enjoying that we went down the tasting list for reds and whites. Jess even found a white she liked enough to take home, the Roussanne. The sangiovese stood out as well. It's a nice little place, very homey and cozy. They also have an old clay urn that is usually aging a delicious concoction. The little mini tour around the wines and the room made for a great experience, and the service was excellent. I will be back for sure. Cheers! read more

I'm so sad I didn't know this place existed until now! I yelped this place and was sold by the reviews. Everyone is right! I had a red wine flight...$7 for 5 heavy pours people!...I tried the Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Honestly there were all delicious, but I was so wrong to not have tried their Amphora wine. It's aged in amphora clay pots, and just gives the wine so much depth and flavor. I liked it so much I bought a bottle of the Amphora Viognier, which didn't last long. best of all, the owners were there and were just so pleasant to sit down and chat about their business and story. The environment is warm and welcoming, the wine is good, the owners are so nice, I know I'll be back very very soon! read more

This place seems glamorous but the service wasn't so great. I felt like they had snooty service and they had not many options for food.

I was able to sample Pergatory at the Castle Rock Wine Fest. After making some rude gagging noises at all the horrifically sweet wines offered by other vendors I was elated to taste Pergatory's offerings. The gentleman I talked to was very engaging, warm, and clearly passionate about wine. He listened to me talk about wines I like and made excellent recommendations. I ended up purchasing a bottle of their Cabernet Sauvignon and was very pleased. It's a delicious, full-bodied wine. Pergatory is really a CO gem in the wine business! read more
