My new favorite restaurant in Lowell. Love the salads, soups and grilled cheese sandwiches.

While there are plenty of places in Lowell to get food, THIS is the place to go for locally sourced, fresh bread, yummy salads, amazing desserts, and a relaxing atmosphere (public health crisis aside). It's a real mom/pop place. Great food made by passionate people at a great price. Whether you're from Lowell, or just driving through, you won't find better home made bread or grilled cheese sandwiches (which my 8yo can't get enough of). Come on over and check them out. If you want awesome bread you found it! If you want something special call a day in advance and they will take care of you! They are still in the process of opening so be kind! They are nice hard working people. There is disability parking across the street in front of El Potros! Make a stop for to go sandwich and try the bread that way or go ahead and get a loaf. I visit this place almost weekly, and it is my to go place for morning coffee. They have really good pastries if you are into a dessert, or breakfast and lunch sandwiches. It is family owned and customer service is amazing. read more

Food is really great but the service is not , the wait is unusually long for just a sandwich , and oftentimes people who come in and order after you get their food before you , occasionally you do get your food fast , but usually not , I absolutely love the food but don't go there as often as I would if the wait wasn't so long , one time my food was ready and they didn't even ca my name so I waited even longer than I should have read more

Took a nice Sunday morning walk to their downtown shop with my wife. What a value! The smell of fresh baked bread hits you like a truck when you walk in the door. Clean, simple, sunny spot with great views of Merrimack St and the Sun Building. Two med coffees, a breakfast sandwich (2 eggs on brioche!) and freshly baked toast (slabs) with jam (made in-house!). Absolutely stuffed. All for about $10. Total. That's it. Added bonus: Your supporting a local spot, not a corporate giant. read more

I recently ordered from the Purple Carrot Bread Co. and I would highly recommend you stop in! The owner was thoughtful in how items were packaged and made sure everything was hot when I picked up the order. She gave me suggestions for reheating as needed and the food was amazing. I ordered short ribs, turkey with stuffing and mash potatoes. They even went out of their way to ensure the potatoes didn't have any dairy in them (I'm lactose intolerant). This spot has quickly become a staple for me! The owner Alaina is a wonderful young woman who I have had the opportunity to speak with on a number of occasions. I personally love her view on making quality food and providing great customer service. When I come here, my order is always the same: Braised Beef Brisket on Country Blonde with a large iced coffee. The coffee is great and I'm accidentally a coffee snob. The beef brisket knocks it out of the park; perfectly cooked always and on the country blonde you can not go wrong! The menu has great options and the specials are always changing, the variety is wonderful! I would recommend this place to everyone and their Mother....and even their Mother's Mother. Has potential but not quite there yet. Ordered 2 brioche breakfast Sandy's, a plain ice coffee and a bottled juice. Total was over $17. $19 after the tip they kinda make you feel bad for not leaving. Before you sign your name you have the choice to tip or not. Egg was all the way to one side hanging off the roll, brioche was stale and crumbly, ham was a tiny piece of deli ham. There wasn't a drop of salt or pepper so when we went to use what was on the table we realized the salt was all stuck in the bottle. They need some rice in there.... read more

Have been seriously giving this place a chance. The bread is good. However, the inconsistency and quality of salads and soups is below average. The couple of sandwiches thats I've had we're good. But I think it is over priced. Today I had a half salad and a cup of soup. I paid over $10 for it. Was not worth the money. read more
