Never a good sign when I write a review before finishing my meal. Ordered a chix Caesar salad and a cookie for lunch (no judgments please!) which arrived relatively quickly through Grubhub. Took pics, opened the bag -- no cookie. They were "out of stock" ??? #eyeroll ok whatever. Salad is average size, shredded chicken appeared to be rotisserie. But the real reason for my review: THE CROUTONS ARE PLAIN BREAD THAT TASTES LIKE THEY WERE COOKED IN OLD OIL. Come on. You've got BREAD in your name, and the croutons are literally inedible. It's the kind of place to go early for parking to run in and out for pick up or use Grubhub. I recently stopped by to pick up a short rib grilled cheese to go, and was so glad I checked Purple Carrot Bread out (it's been on my list to visit for awhile now). The folks at the counter were really kind (which always earns that extra star in my book for great service). The sandwich itself was delicious, and like many others have raved about here, the sourdough bread was excellent. It also came with a side of tasty pasta salad and a pickle. They also have pastries and other pre-baked entrees to go, and I'm looking forward to coming back and checking out something else on the menu soon! read more

got the daily pressed sandwich, the turkey pesto. absolutely devious!!! the pesto was incredibly rich, the bread had a wonderful texture, and it was all perfectly buttered. macaroni salad wasn't bad either, the greek lemon rice soup was thick and warming. definitely a great palette cleanser for after the sandwich. first time trying this place but it definitely won't be the last!!! read more

My husband and I went to the Dracut location. We didn't realize the hours and walked in 10 mins before closing. I apologized and the woman behind the counter, who we later found out was the owner was so sweet about it. She said, "don't apologize I am more than happy to serve you" . She stood took our order and continued to talk to us for at least 15 mins. We bought a few different desserts as we had company coming over. Every single thing we got was amazing! High quality, made with care. The olive& rosemary bread is so good. Tuna melt stuffed with Tuna. Tastes great. Short rib panini is super tasty, melt in your mouth meat. Croissant with jam filling. The croissant itself had a delicate sweetness and a hint of fruity flavor. The jam inside was delish, not overly sweet, tasted housemade. I am such a fan of Purple Carrot and everyone who works there! The loaves of bread are amazing (olive and blonde loaves are my favorites. Love getting them sliced to-go). The sandwiches are great, and I've always enjoyed my meals here. Great food, great choices, great owner interactions! A group of 10 senior citizens from Vermont had a fabulous lunch here after visiting the Lowell Boott museum. The menu choices were interesting....and each sounded so yummy, it was hard to choose. All ten people were happy with their food and baked goods. It's hard to satisfy ten customers all at once, but the Purple Carrot did it! Everyone seemed to order something different, and everyone raved about their choice. I've enjoyed many of their breads for take home and occasionally stop in for a coffee and croissant (sometimes toast too!). They always have a bread pudding offering which I check on but usually skip. This morning it was a "pecan maple bread pudding". I decided to try it and was pleasantly surprised that the consistency was perfect and flavors well balanced. Mostly though it was subtly sweetened which was perfect for me. When my friend told me to reach out to the Purple Carrot Bread Co for my spreading joy through food project I had only had their soup during Winterfest soup contest which they have placed several times!! My 9 year instantly recalled it! You walk in and even during Covid shut down the smell of baked breads and pastries makes your mouth start to water!!! The owners had worked all morning making and packaging 50 half sandwiches to add to my snack bags of chips and candy I had put together for all 8 fire houses!! The selection was NE Turkey, BLT, Ham & Swiss, Chicken Salad and Brie & Apple(god I love Brie)!! The owners wanted to add something to the project so they even gave us a very generous discount! The food was a hit! Everything is so fresh!! If you haven't tried it just don't wait! Can't wait to visit again when they are open to more than just take out! I was in the downtown area and I decided to stop in to get some breakfast. It wasn't busy at all and the space is pretty big. Perfect for a small group of friends/family. They have a lot of options on their menu from pastries, drinks, sandwiches and soup. I got a breakfast panini with eggs, candied bacon and ham and cheddar. I also ordered an apple turnover. I waited a little longer then I expected but the staff seemed very friendly. The cinnamon raisin bread itself was really soft. The candied bacon was delicious on the sandwich but the eggs were more runny than I would like. Over all it was really filling. The apple turnover was fresh but could've been warmed up. What a wonderful little sandwich and coffee shop! This place is great for lunch. They have quite a selection of good sandwiches and paninis. I've been trying a different one each day since I have been in town traveling for work. They also do salads and some other food. They have a small but nice selection of tea and good smoothies. And of course they have a lot of options of very good bread. My colleagues say that the service can be quite slow at lunch time but I usually come by about 1pm after the main lunch rush and I have no problem getting my food in good time. The prices are decent for good food, the space is bright and pleasant, and it isn't noisy or overcrowded. This is a great place for lunch and very convenient to the Boott Mills apartments and the Boott Cotton Mill museum, and the rest of the old town district of Lowell. read more

This is place looks like it has a great menu. We order watermelon gazpacho and shirt rib grilled cheese. Gazpacho was great, grilled cheese was lacking in the cheese department. And they took forever to get out 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. There was only one person in front of us, they came and went king before our order came out. We waiting so long I had to go down the block to feed the meter I had originally put 40 mins on. Because of the gazpacho I'd give it one more try. I love Purple Carrot along with my husband, however the last few visits I have left disappointed. I was informed today the full bread loafs are often used to slice bread which then prevents a full loaf of bread not being purchasable. I have now bragged on 3 separate occasions about this awesome bread in Lowell and I am now going to a grocery store to get bread. The food is amazing and I'm not shocked they are busy (Go try the sandwiches!). My husband and I make it our priority to shop local in Lowell, I have noticed with business picking up the owners response is not as responsive to the demand.
