My friend had the stuffed baked potato which was like two meals. I had the pork sandwich, which was good but not wow. We ended up coming back the next day also! I forget what we had the second time, but I remember we enjoyed it. Parking tip, the lot for the incline is a short walk away and you can avoid the crowded little parking lot for a few bux. Food was just "alright". I had a grilled cheese add pork and a cup of tomato basil soup. The soup was a tad lumpier than I prefer and the sandwich was good. I took both home and reheated and they seemed to taste a bit better. Not super spacious inside but there is 2 sep rooms and outdoor seating. The service was pretty quick so that's a definite plus. Upon walking into the restaurant, I felt like had walked back into the 50's. I think I recognized my parent's old dinette set, weird. The service was good overall, the staff was very attentive. The portion sizes were excellent, but the food itself, just average. The smoke was too light for my liking, the sides just average, and I cannot believe there weren't even greens offered. Came by at 6:15pm on a Saturday with plenty of seating available both inside and out. Staff was friendly and service was quick. We got the pork nachos and smoked wings. Both were great, I probably favor the nachos. The homemade bbq sauce is delicious, between the two I favorited the sweet one. For the wings, the side of ranch was definitely made in house. The purple Daisy picnic Café is located right at the bottom of Lookout Mountain. If you are driving up the mountain either to go to rock city or staying on the mountain for your weekend getaway, this is the perfect casual spot for a quick lunch. I had read about the rainbow sandwich and was intrigued and knew I had to order. This is a three layer sandwich with pimento cheese, chicken salad, and a cucumber spread. It is absolutely addicting. I did half of a sandwich with a cup of chili. My husband got the barbecue nachos. We were both happy with our lunch and it was a great stop after our drive down from Nashville. The ribs were amazing, as were the sides. The pork was lacking in BBQ flavor which was disappointing. The BBQ sauces tasted vinegar-based to both of us. The dirt cup was good but I would recommend they consider using chocolate pudding instead of vanilla. When I saw it on the menu I was transported back to my childhood and excited to give it a try, only to be slightly disappointed that it was made with vanilla pudding. This restaurant must be a local's favorite! You go in and order your drinks, and they hand you menus and you seat yourself. There is seating indoors and outdoors and parking available. We got the BBQ plate (pork and chicken options) with sides of hashbrown casserole and baked beans. The hashbrown casserole was different than ones I've had before - in a good way! It was very cheesy/creamy. The baked beans were also great. There are 3 yummy sauces on the table that you can use. The only underwhelming part was the toast - it was a little cold and not as flavorful as I'd like. My friend did find a hair in her meal, but they quickly remade everything fresh for her and gave us banana pudding on the house. Speaking of, don't forget to try the famous banana pudding! I don't know what has changed at Purple Daisy but it's not at all like it used to be. We popped in last night for dinner and the food was awful. We've eaten there for years so it was a real surprise. The pulled pork plate is no longer pulled pork but chopped pork. Half of my pork was fat which never used to have any fat in it at all. Has the business changed hands? I don't know but the hash brown casserole wasn't completely cooked. It was barely edible. I hope it is a fluke but it is nothing like the delicious meal it used to be.
