Chicken club was good, and the chips were nice, though not super crispy. The bad news: I think the chicken wing portion was a bit small for $15. The bleu cheese wasn't great. I was charged 5 pounds for a "tray charge," which was confusing, because it's not listed on the menu and I certainly didn't need the tray. The spring rolls definitely have the frozen taste and just too sweet for me. They delivered two bottles of coke, but no bottle opener. We tried to open it ourselves on the side of the counter, and the glass broke, so just a bit frustrating. I called and they brought one right up, though, so lesson learned. Just follow the signs to the train, and don't forget to tap your card when entering the tube or you will get charged about for the ride.

I was browsing through Agoda when I spotted the Oakwood's ad. The primary photo of the building reminded me of something I'd seen in The Hobbit. But it wasn't the photo that caught my attention. It was the price that caught my eye. I believe it was around fifty something pounds. I was like Wowzers! That's a steal. The only thing about it was this place was a bit of a ways away from Central London. But after looking around the area on Google maps I realized that there was a Tube station nearby. I was like Bingo! I decided to book. Upon arriving at the Oakwood I was greeted by a friendly man who reminded me of the BBC's very own John Sweeney. Anybody remember him? I wish I could remember his name. I should know it by now having stayed at the Oakwood as many times as I have. But for the sake of this review, I'll just refer to him as Mr. Sweeney. He's actually one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. And not a phony let me sell you an upgrade kind of nice. But a genuinely nice person. From the moment he opened the door and greeted me I felt welcomed here. The check in process was a breeze. Mr. Sweeney suggested some groovy spots to check out and even recommended some good places to eat that were nearby. After this he showed me to my room. It was a cozy little room that I felt had all of the amenities that a guest room should have. There was free wifi in the room which was very fast. Plenty of outlets to plug in and charge your devices. A mini fridge to store all of your alcoholic beverages. Smirnoff Cranberry Vodka for me. There was even a hot pot with plenty of packets of instant coffee, creams, and sugars. That was a major turn on for a coffee freak like me. Oh and the room even came with a classic old school key. I felt like I could be in the early 20th century. Very British and very groovy. I loved it. I also want to talk about how clean the room was. Seriously this place was emmaculately clean. I have stayed in many different hotels and inn's during my travels. But I don't think I have ever stayed at a place that was as clean as the Oakwood. Major props to the house keeping staff here. You know something I want to say that I really like about the Oakwood is the location. It's located in a town called West Drayton and I must say that I've really grown to love this place. There are plenty of stores and places to eat that are nearby. There is even a pub right next door to the inn. So if you have a late night craving for a brew you can drink till your heart's content and then it's an easy walk back to your room. Also, like I previously mentioned, there is a train station nearby that is easily walkable where you can catch The Tube which will take you anywhere you want to go in Greater London. Oh and I can't forgot to mention the fine folks at Arya Barber. But they'll be getting their own special review soon. So I guess I'll go ahead and wrap this review up by saying that if you are planning to visit London and you want a place to stay that is clean, cozy, and has genuine friendly service, I highly recommend the Oakwood Bed and Breakfast. There was a bell so I pushed it but nobody came. I waited and waited and waited and pushed the button more and more and more. Finally I saw another guest through the window (who was looking for batteries for his remote control) who let me in. There was no one at the front desk to check me in. All there was was a little note that said call number XXX. I didn't have a cell phone with me and there was no phone there. Fortunately the guy that let me in let me use his. One of the hotel employees had to come back to work to check me in. The room was clean and I slept well.
