This is just an amazing space in a great location. Some friends and I thoroughly enjoy classes here, especially the Sunday morning hatha yoga. Wonderful ambience, lovely Tulsa hibiscus tea, and fun experienced instructors.

I'm a 3 month new yogi at Prusha. I've been searching for a good yoga studio and finally found one near my neighborhood! This place has nice vibes, welcoming sign & a pretty entrance. All the receptionists & instructors are very welcoming & professional. After each class I feel totally satisfied inside and out. They are also community friendly, and offer free classes for veterans & at GG Park. No wonder this place is expanding to Berkeley. Highly recommended for all levels.

I HEART PURUSHA YOGA!!!!! Zumba! Gentle Hatha Yoga! Candle Lit Chill! Belly Dancing! Hoopsana! Purusha Core! + CLEAN, you have no idea what that means to me. It doesn't smell, it's not gross looking, it smells nice and clean. + the teachers are great especially Taina (ZUMBA!!!!! my jlo aspirations), Alyssa for purusha core, Barbora, Laxman, Lily...everyone is so nice here, which I appreciate. + free filtered water, I hate how some places make you pay for it. It's just water. + massages, too bad you don't get a massage in every class =[ + affordable, discounts! They currently have a 15% off discount promo code 230113992126 to be used in-person or online until Feb 15, 2012, which is a bit cheaper than the current Yelp deal if you get the 20 class package. I will need to grab this deal ASAP!!!! I'm a sucker for deals. + Best of all, this studio definitely lets me unwind after a day at work and with my potential or current carpal tunnel condition. + Equipment provided! Every time I try a new sport, I have to keep purchasing stuff but i don't have to for this place. - The only thing that sucks is that work and home aren't really close by, ehh but it's close enough. I don't mind at all, since this place is that GREAT! I don't think I've used so many exclamation points in my reviews, but this one definitely deserves it.

http://www.purushayoga.org/ Purusha Yoga offers free community classes on Saturday mornings (11a, entrance to the Botanical Gardens at Golden Gate Park) and Sunday mornings (11a, Presidio Sports Basement, last two Sundays of the month, and last three if the calendar works out that way.) Joy Ravelli and Adnan Iftekhar both teach in the Purusha style (Purusha in Sanskrit translates to "inner truth") and strive to adapt classes toward the needs of the group. Classes can range from active asana poses to restorative ones, and there is always time set aside for breathing exercises, and meditation. I met Joy through a class at the Bakar Fitness Center (Mission Bay) about a year ago, and then worked with her for a half dozen sessions one-on-one. The community classes are a great way for me to stay connected, and I think it's a real bonus to do yoga outdoors, especially at a such a beautiful place as the botanical gardens. (Public transit is easy, too- N line to 9th and Irving and a 5 min walk from there.) If a casual setting (in or out), with experienced and well-trained teachers and meeting a diverse group of fellow yoga students is what you seek, then Purusha Yoga is for you.

Graduation!

They have quite the selection of teas which are pretty fragrant and the menu is helpfully organized based on the level of caffeine in the teas. I thought the tea was decent. I learned that The Center is a space where events and classes are often held, and that there's actually people who live here (presumably upstairs). When I went on a Sunday afternoon, there were quite a few people there to talk or work on their laptops. I admit this place is a bit too "woowoo" for me, but I'm sure for some other people this would be a good fit for their desired atmosphere.

This space feels super homey compared to other cafes as everyone mainly sits on the floor and you also take your shoes off inside. There's a huge selection of teas, and you can get free refills on the pots for as long as you want ($12)! I came on a Sunday afternoon and it got SUPER packed while I was there and pretty loud. I'd recommend coming earlier if you want to snag a table. I saw a lot of people catching up or doing work as well!

The entire time I was at the studio and after, I felt like the staff was hounding me to commit to a membership. While I get that it's normal for fitness studios to reach out for post-class feedback, Ritual Hot Yoga exhausted my patience with their incessant texts and emails. I was literally getting spammed with notifications. Apart from the incompetent administrative staff, the class was delivered at such a rapid pace using esoteric jargon rather than industry standard terminology that I could not keep up and transition quickly enough, and the instructor failed to check on me throughout class. Also, since the room was really dark, it was difficult to see and copy others' movements, and the instructor walked around and often stood at the back of the room instead of demonstrating the movements at the front of the class. Worst class ever. I left Ritual Hot Yoga feeling like I hadn't worked out at all despite it being a hot class, so I immediately went to the gym afterwords to get in an actual workout. Ritual Hot Yoga wasted both my time and money. I will never return and have de-influenced my friends from coming here.

Not sure what the other classes are like but this was taught by Rick, like an ashtanga style class for 60 minutes and a few of the hardest moves removed. Still a tough class and most poses and done twice. The temperature of the room was 108F, widely attended with around 24 students. 40% of them left around 15 minutes before the class ended. Yes, it's hot and it feels good. Yes you feel like you're going to die. But you'll feel so alive afterwards. Rick is a great teacher and provider clearly and timely guidance. A plus is the lush garden view in the window. If I come to SF, this is a must. I didn't bring yoga mat due to traveling, I recommend to bring a towel to sweat on. The floors are the soft martial art type floors. Love Body Temp Yoga!

I looked up hot pilates and body temp seems to be one of the very VERY few places to offer hot mat pilates in SF. I booked my first class with Patty and ever since I've been locked in. Patty's flow is smooth and challenging. She offers modifications and compliments when we most need it. The studio is small and there is only 1 class happening at a time. They have changing rooms and they also have 1 bathroom but no showers so be ready to baby wipe your self if you have work afterwards or go home to shower because you will be hot and sweaty after.
