We were finishing up a day trip in the Antipolo area and had to pass by the Pinto MODERN ART Museum. First thing I will say is this museum is NOT for senior citizens. It's a lot of stairs and awkward walking/spaces. My parents and Tias/Tios did not like that. Another negative would be the lack of air flow in the buildings. It was almost stifling in a lot of areas. And we all know that when the air is hot and sticky, the mosquitos come in droves. So even when you're walking around TRYING to appreciate the artwork, you become preoccupied with swatting the mosquitos trying to drain your blood. It was very annoying. Other than that, it's an interesting collection of MODERN art. Definitely NOT for everybody's taste. The architecture of the buildings were amazing though! We really enjoyed imagining the heyday of those houses/buildings. It can be a bit confusing navigating the different buildings; the museum definitely needs to update their signage. Especially during the dusk /evening hours, outdoor signage was greatly lacking and was frustrating many people who were trying to go towards the "exit" --and NOTE, this museum is majority an OUTDOOR/Open-air museum, with a LOT of stairs/steps; NOT good for people with mobility issues. :( The staff were friendly enough and somewhat polite; and for that, they get the 3stars. Otherwise it's an interesting experience and probably NOT for everyone. They do have an eatery on site for those who get hangry when they get lost in the maze. ;)

Recently visited this…read moremuseum with my friends and I was in awe because I felt so serene while visiting the museum and touring it grounds, you can see soft vintage beds and couches all scattered around its vicinity, we asked our tour guide why is that so and he said because they believe art and nature could both heal the soul. We also visited their cafe and the food was okay, salad was drenched in their dressing but overall I like the aesthetics of the cafe, felt I was in Greece.

The museum preserved many artifacts from this horrible day in WWII history to include the latrine turned into a torture chamber. Like Dachau and Buchenwald, this museum must remain for future generations to preserve and prevent recurrence... even though it often feels today like the rest of the world isn't paying attention. There are important lessons here. That freedom is not free, that good people risked their lives to aid other humans under less than human circumstances, and that even evil can be overcome by good once people's hearts are converted. A must visit ... but one that is sobering so prepare yourself. Honor them by respecting their memory and their sacrifice that allows you today to remain free... then...pass the lesson on...

They never failed me!) and they gave the directions already. Parking is not readily available so, be corteous enough to fellow motorists to park your car properly. Also, ask the house owner if you could park in front of their house. Proper decorum is a must, dear friends. Upon entering the house turned into a toy museum, you'd be envied on how the owner of the toy museum actually took care of their toys. Of course not everything in the toy museum was really the toys they played, but you would feel that sense of "I should have cared for my toys" guilt feel. Roaming around the building, you'd be amazed by the sheer number of toys the museum houses. The best part for me was seeing Optimus Prime and the overall drama of the place is that you feel you are in hanger of Optimus Prime. Yexel Toy Museum is still undergoing expansion but if you cant wait to see Baymax, Ranma 1/2, Batman, and other cartoon characters, then head to this place. It surely will make your weekend or weekday trip memorable.

The house itself is really great to venture into. I'm a fan of old homes and getting a glimpse of a time gone by. The rooms all show of an earlier time period and how everyday life might have occurred for him and his family. An exhibit outside shows some of his old possessions and historical accounts. Museum is free to the public.

We often take for granted how beautiful our neighboring provinces are. Metro Manila is such a…read morebustling city, that we forget that rich natural resources and spectacular ruralscapes are just around the corner. Or actually, just around the lake. I'm talking about the beautiful countryside of Rizal and Laguna provinces that you can visit when on a Laguna Lake Loop tour.There isn't any established itinerary, but it is always good to follow the shores of the lake until you go full circle, passing by small towns and villages in the process. Last year, I went on an overnight backpack tour with a friend through Laguna's quaint little towns. We started our trip in San Pablo and traveled to places like churches and underground cemeteries in Nagcarlan and Pila before we settled in a hotel in Pagsanjan. The next day, we woke up early to catch breakfast and to check out a local barong Tagalog factory in Lumban. Then, we proceeded to Paete, where we caught Palm Sunday mass and celebrated with the rest of the town. Paete is known for its sculptures and its beautiful church, and we went around the town center buying papier mache horses and taking photos of interesting sculptures. We also went to Pakil, where there is a really nice church. Then, we took a jeep from Siniloan all the way to Pilillia, which was our last stop. From there, we went to Shaw Blvd. via Binangonan, Rizal. It was a memorable tour. We didn't even need our own car - the jeeps and the tricycles were able to take us places. It might also be a good day trip if you want to get a quick idea of the small Laguna towns' culture. I heard some people also bike the entire route, and I totally see why.The scenic views and beautiful roads would be a great playground for bikers and adventurers.

While Balinsasayaw Restaurants have been around for years in the area, I've never tried any of them. Thanks to a work engagement, I was able to visit the newly-opened Balinsasayaw Bed & Breakfast in Tagaytay. It was actually a surprise -- a pleasant one. First of all, it didn't look anything like the restaurants, which was all individual native huts. This one was a modern white structure on the ridge side, giving you wildly beautiful views of both the lake and the surrounding areas. Second, this one is a bed and breakfast -- they have 6 rooms that can take 12 people, they have a small events hall, and a pool, too! I didn't have to check in for work this time, but we were able to use the rooms that they had for a research group set-up, and they were pretty spacious and well-equipped. As for the food -- and this one is always critical for me haha -- it was quite flavourful, and the servings were huge for the price. When you're looking for a place to stay in the area (and we all know that tagaytay can get quite full nowadays), look them up.
