My first class was tough, and she explained it was going to be hard, but "it will be easier the next time." Since I've done pilates in the past, I knew she was right. BTW Im waaay out of shape-it's NOT EASY your first time! I came back after the first time with Erica, and my second class ROCKED! I feel like in 2-3 more classes I'll be on my way to doing full core stuff again. I think Erica is unique, she offers something different, because she's a totally cool person& shes confident in a relatable self depreciated way. She sucked once she's been here, it's hard, you'll get it...blah blah.. all you just want to do is hang out with her and talk smack, but you're doing pilates, so you just do that and you kill two birds! Try to get into her class-shes so funny, she's seriously an expert on UFOS no sh**& -love her! I'll be back! She is so great at guiding you through her visualization techniques that you'll peacefully transcend to another world (maybe it's her intention) but I never have experienced that before in any yoga/pilates/etc. She's good at her craft P.s. kinda of bugs me that a person who left her - 1 , didn't this give this studio another chance. Or just take your review down for godsakes, I came in bare feet today, but I realized quickly, the reasons why I should be wearing some socks to keep the equipment un-nasty !

Almost immediately she seemed to have an attitude toward me? Also she was always on her iPhone during our classes ! I actually started having a hard time getting into the positions that she would always raddle off as if we were in an advanced class "WE WERE BEGINNERS"!!!! I ended up having a torn meniscus which was why I was having trouble, she was cold and extremely unfriendly so we stopped going and didn't care that our package had one last session

The Pilates classes need to be more professionally managed. I bought a Groupon 10-pass small class…read morecoupon and was excited to try BodyWise Fitness out. They have two instructors so far, and six reformers. The instructors know their stuff. One class I arrived at didn't start until about 10 minutes past the hour. The next class I arrived at, I was 4 minutes late when I checked in at the front desk. The person who checked me in didn't indicate any problem and didn't say anything to me about being late. I went back to the pilates area, and all six reformers were filled up. The instructor said that the policy of the gym was to give "stand-bys" the spot if a reservation is late. 5 minutes late???? So I went back to the front of the gym and discussed the situation with the employee, and asked him why he didn't tell me 6 people had already checked in; he said that the gym has a policy that if the class starts and not all reservations are there, any stand-by can take the spot. Different story from what the instructor gave. He said he didn't know that the instructor had given the spot away already. I did discuss the situation with the manager/owner, and she looked into it for me and resolved it satisfactorily. I think that as long as a business is looking to make the customer happy, and is always wanting to improve things, this should be what to look for when wanting a good experience. I would recommend this gym, based on my experience.

I have struggled with my weight for years and finally made up my mind to go to the gym and try to get into shape. On my 3rd day at bodywise I was working out doing deadlifts trying not to drop the weight and I was approached by a latina trainer and was cussed out and called chubby. Needless to say I will never return. I can not believe that a gym would create that type of environment, and as I read the other reviews it looks like this trainer is not a new problem.. I want to be a part of a gym culture that is uplifting. this is not the place.

This is a fantastic little Pilates studio in Salt Lake. I didn't know anything about Pilates before…read morea friend suggested I check out YOLO. I have a recurring ankle injury from trail running that I've been (unsuccessfully) self-rehabbing, and I've learned so much from my first few weeks of classes about my own body and why I keep hurting myself, and I'm excited to see how the running goes this summer. With my limited experience with friends who did Pilates I was picturing a froofy, "trendy-fitness" type of experience, but this is not at all what this studio is about. The staff here is focused on body mechanics and balance, and I feel great every time I leave after a session. (Not to mention- they're right above Taqueria27- which is always great for a post-session round of tacos!)

We starting learning about joints and muscles with an emphasis on the correct posture for our bodies and how to integrate breath and movement. It was very informative - I kinda want to take it again to absorb more info. We also got into the basics of Pilates and did several exercises to learn about the reformer. I will definitely be going back to learn more!

I didn't have the best experience at this particular studio recently. I did a free weeklong trial at CorePower to try out all their studio spaces. I had great experiences at Trolley Square and Highland, but my experience at Foothill didn't leave me wanting to come back to this location. It was my first time here, and it was insanely busy. They have multiple classes happening at a time, and there are so many people in each class. I did a Yoga Sculpt class, but because it was so busy in the studio, the people at the front desk didn't have much time to give me a tour or show me some of the nuances of the studio space - where towels are, how many weights are needed, etc. The class itself was great and challenging, but the instructor didn't have a mic. I'm not sure if that was personal preference, but it was difficult to hear her cues and instructions without a mic in a big space. As others have mentioned, the rooms are packed like sardines, which can be difficult in a hot yoga class, especially a class like Yoga Sculpt where there is a lot of sweating and moving around. The space itself also felt a little cramped when everyone was exiting the class, trying to get their personal items, put shoes on, etc.

Obviously it takes time to transition from one client to another so even though you pay for 30 minutes...you don't get 30 minutes. I was 5 minutes late one day bc of traffic, I got less than a 20 minute session, even though I paid for 30 minutes. I paid for one month because I wanted to see how that went. After one month I decided not to continue, but they kept charging my card even though they weren't providing any service. When I called them, they said I signed a contract to allow them to keep charging my card, and refused to refund, even though they provided no service.

I have a persistent shoulder issue that I haven't been able to fix and I was hopeful that this might help. I got a little nervous when I signed their release form. It was extremely thorough--almost as bad as a skydiving release I signed in California. They accept zero liability for anything. But the comprehensiveness of how much they refused to take responsibility for told me that there had clearly been issues in the past. How I wish that I had taken the cue from that release form and walked out. It was one of those life decisions where I made the wrong call. I did the session. It mostly felt great. Matt was pleasant to talk to. Because I was a little wary after the release I was quite cautious. I have a high pain threshold (I completed a half Ironman on my 40th birthday a couple years ago), and have had *a lot* of body work. So I was very careful not to let him overdo it. But I was not careful enough. When he got to my knee it felt weird--not bad, but weird. I remember commenting that I had had a lot of knee work before because I tore my cartilage in my 20's, but nobody had ever done anything like that. I had never felt anything like that before. But like I said it didn't feel bad, just weird. And I walked out of that place feeling great and sure that I would return. The next day I felt like I had been in a car accident. Everything ached. I assumed that I hadn't drunk enough water and just chugged more, thinking that it would clear within a few days. I've never had soreness from any kind of body work last longer than three days. But by the third day my knee was throbbing. And now it is 2.5 weeks later and the pain has only increased. I can no longer squat down to play with my baby, to clean, or anything. It has seriously impacted my quality of life. I keep thinking that surely just some stretches could not cause any serious harm, and it should just go away. But things keep going in the wrong direction, and thinking about that release form, clearly I am not the only one to have had some life-altering negative consequences. I have no idea what they did to me. I just know that it hurts, and now I am going to have to go to a doctor and pay who knows how much for an MRI to find out. So if you choose to go to this place, be even more cautious than I was. If something feels weird (not even bad, just super weird) then make them stop immediately. Believe me it is ***really*** not worth it!
