Our orders were delivered VERY quickly despite there being a special event with 40 other diners in the next room. We stopped at the Pyramid Bar & Grill for a light lunch today. This is located inside the Whitney Oaks Golf Clubhouse. While we play golf there periodically, it had been a while since we had tried the restaurant. Good service, tasty food, and great views. We ordered the Chicken Apple Pecan Salad and the Sierra Sliders. Neither of us were disappointed. Our salad consisted of grilled chicken with romaine, tomato, cucumber, apple & candied pecans. This was tossed in a honey Dijon dressing. Hugh portion and delicious. The sliders centered around tender angus beef patties, with cheddar cheese, bacon bits, a mustard aioli and mini brioche buns. Very nice, I would order again ... and not share (ha ha). Solid dinning experience and I will not wait so long to return. read more

Today is the day before Mother's Day. Most anywhere was either an hour+ wait and/or would not take reservations. We went to 4 spots and were not able to find ANYTHING. My folks mentioned Pyramid, and we assumed it would be the same story...however, it was wide open. We were given great service and seating for our party of 6. The food was top notch, and the ambiance was perfect. Heather, at the bar, was so friendly and prompt. This place is definitely slept on. While everyone knows Whitney Oaks is a great course...Pyramid is a great stand-alone restaurant/bar. We love coming here because we just walk down the hill. Sunday mornings are our favorite time to come for the $2 mimosas and breakfast. Although we have been here for lunch, dinner and happy hour also! There is a half off menu items on Tuesdays for seniors. We enjoy the food, service and the view. It is gorgeous here. read more

Since most of the reviews here are really old, I'll post a more recent 2024 review of this place. I've eaten here many times over the years because I love the outdoor seating & views of the golf course. The food was always good & fresh. Well, things have changed, primarily the quality of the food & service. They are stuck in the Covid days where the menu is very limited & there are no servers. Now, you have to order at the bar with all the annoyingly drunk golfers. The food is meh and more expensive. It's a shame because the restaurant is a nice venue, but I won't be returning with the way things have gone downhill at this place. read more

We popped by Pyramid Bar & Grill, which is open to the public, on a hot weekday afternoon and found an indoor table with a pretty view of a water fountain and the course. You go to the bar to give your order, but the bartender brings your food to the table. The woman working that day was very nice :) Food came out pretty quickly and portions were generous. I had the Reuben sandwich, which was tasty and lean, that came with a side of slaw, which was interestingly made with napa cabbage and dressed nicely without a lot of mayo. On 8/16/19, I had the mushroom Swiss burger. It was really good, but what I was impressed with were the fries that came with it. They were seasoned perfectly. My complements to the chef. Just finished at the driving range. Decided to grab an adult beverage. The staff here are super nice and will accommodate food and drink. Outside seating is very scenic and shade is provided. View of water hole very calming for those who shanked a few during the game. Calm down and relax, it's not that bad. Enjoy life...you deserve it. I first learned about them after a Yelp Elite Event, so I decided to check them out again. We came out after some Christmas shopping, so it was already pretty dark by then. Being on a golf course, it looks very nice on a sunny day. There's a lot to choose from, I personally ordered the Rib-eye steak with a double side of mashed potatoes. Our group started with an order of Fried Calamari, while our orders were prepared. It started out very good, until I had an alarming bite into a small slice of fried lemon, twice. That was very off putting, not sure why those were included. Our main dishes came out in a timely manner, right when we were finishing the appetizer. I have to say, the Rib-eye was probably one of the best steaks I've had in a while. Something about the way it was seasoned, it was exceptional, especially for the $25 price tag. The thing that brought down the dish for me though was the garlic mash. It tasted very salty. Some parts of the food were good, it is a little pricey. My wife heard about $2 mimosas on Sundays. So naturally we had to try it out. Especially during football season. I have been to Whitney before to golf but never ate at pyramid before. Let me tell you........gooooood food. We ordered breakfast and I got the Old Golfer, which was lots of chopped up meat, with hash browns and eggs on top. Comes with a tortilla, salsa and sour cream. So you can throw together your own breakfast burrito. Yummy! Wife got French toast and it was pretty good just slightly soggy. I don't even care to drink mimosas but for 2 bucks I make exceptions. Lol. They had many TV's going with football and watching the niners lose plus losing Jimmy G to injury made it that much more enjoyable. For sure will come back. read more

The view is lovely, however I ordered a cheese burger which was dripping of grease and water which made my bun soggy. The sweet potato fries were cold and wilted. I was here under not the greatest of situations (memorial service), but this bar was a godsend. Great selection of beers, good bar snacks, and friendly bartenders. Pyramid is the cafe / restaurant attached to the Whitney Golf course in Rocklin. The view is outstanding as you can see players come in on the 18th hole Over a water feature . A rather large water feature . The equals entertainment! The food is very good. Winter and summer. They have excellent fries and I love the Wedge salad. Service is attentive and welcoming . The menu is extensive. Lots to choose from. The outdoor patio is great with a fantastic view and tables under umbrellas. Lots of people from the area dine here as well as golfers. Ever so often they may have the hours changed because of a special event. Excellent way to end a practice session. Full bar too. read more

Wow, 5 years ago this place was great. Now, it's barely hanging on! So here's the breakdown. This place had once aspired to become a 5 star clubhouse attached to a Private Golf Course. Expensive gourmet entrees, top notch service and a bourgeoisie atmosphere. Fast forward 11 years and the only thing they've accomplished is the expensive meals aspect. Let me clarify, under $30 for two people is not in itself expensive, however given the quality and portions of the food they provided I found it pricey considering there are much better options in Rocklin for a smaller price. As one of the other reviewers already noted, the atmosphere is quite disappointing based on the image this place attempts to represent. We had come for dinner and were surprised to see ~60% of the restaurant closed off, thus forcing us to sit in the bar area which was littered with intoxicated golfers. Now, i graduated college all of 5 minutes ago and definitely know how to have a good time. That said, there's something about trying to bring my mother to a supposedly upscale Bar & Grill only to have her get hit on by one of the regulars who's doing an even worse job of handling his balance as he has his hair loss issues. Since I've picked on the food already, let me qualify it. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak and my mother a got a salad. Seemed simple enough, not much could go wrong here. About 30 mins later our food arrived. My plate was about 70% full of stale french fries and a sandwich that surely belonged on a kids menu. My mother's salad was wrong, so we sent that back. By this point it hadn't been for fear of starvation (and the cold beer in hand) we would've walked out on the spot. Once things were finally set right we rewarded with one of the most boringly bland meals we have ever shared. Anyways, I truly don't believe this place even deserves this long of a review. read more

After getting my butt kicked by the Whitney Oaks Golf Course I desperately needed beer and food and a TV to watch the final round of the US Open. Pyramid checked all the boxes. Plenty of TV's and Shipyard IPA on tap and we were off to a good start. The menu had salad, burgers, sandwiches etc. being a Pastrami junkie I went Pastrami Reuben. Pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, thousand island and toasted marble rye. Again all boxes checked. It looked and tasted delicious. I least I got something out of Whitney Oaks. read more

Let me begin by saying, don't be discouraged by the low star rating. I am not sure what this place was like in the past, as I can see that the previous negative reviews are from quite a while ago, but I can assure you that I have nothing but positive things to say about it now. My husband and I have made Pyramid our new favorite place to grab a drink and relax. In addition to being just a short drive from our house, Whitney Oaks is really a gorgeous setting. The patio, where we usually grab a table, is surrounded by views of the golf course, a flowing fountain, and beautiful houses. In addition to being the perfect setting to unwind, the service is always great. We have had a different sever every time, and have always felt taken care of. The last server even gave us the local's discount :) Although we don't usually go for the food, we have had a chance to snack on some apps, all of which were yummy, and even went for the Easter brunch this year: buffet seafood and bottomless mimosas! aka my heaven. read more

A reservation is needed before you drop by, so we made one in advance. When we showed up, we were a bit disappointed with the ambiance, despite the restaurant's views of the golf course. Most of the clientele were rowdy (perhaps, inebriated) golfers, but that's to be expected since it is at a golf course. The main courses were tasty (we ordered the steak & chicken and pasta), but the appetizers (lamb & cheese bread) were on the pricy side for what you get (I've had better cheese bread at the Old Spaghetti Factory better than theirs). We had a restaurant.com coupon for this location, so that made the experience a bit more palatable. Service was also a bit on the slow side. The only reason I'm giving this place 3-stars instead of 2-stars, is because the main courses were actually pretty good taste-wise & portion-wise. read more

My wife and I stopped by for Sunday brunch yesterday. Not the worst experience but certainly not the best. The best part of the experience is we sat outside overlooking the golf course. The patio area was littered the dried grass and other debris and there was a shoe cleaning device for the golf shoes within feet from our table. Not very appetizing. Once we ordered our breakfast, we waited quite some time for the food to arrive. Puzzling since the place was almost empty. We were offered complimentary champagne or mimosas. When we asked about orange juice, we were told that straight orange juice would be a separate charge. Really? Doesn't seem to make sense. We substituted fruit for potatos, for an added charge. The portion sizes were on the small side, my omelet arrived without the mushrooms I ordered and my coffee cup was empty most of the time between the arrival and the one refill offered. After the 1st refill, the server was MIA. I hope the new owner will look at the restaurant area of the operation and make the needed changes to bring this place around. The old reviews no longer apply. Since the place was taken over by the casino, it's so much better. I go all the time with my family and friends and the food is great now. We normally stick to appetizers, but the other night I tried the Prime Rib Burger. It was one of the best burgers I have had, and I eat a lot of burgers. The staff is awesome in the bar, so if you're looking for a place to watch the "game" it's a fun place to be. I would give it 5 stars, but there seems to be some rotation of the server staff. New people come in, and have no idea what's on the menu. I have had a couple of issues with wrong food coming out, but they will fix their mistakes and make sure you're happy. Always makes me happy when I go in with friends, and even if I have only brought them there once, Matt in the bar always remembers what they drink. great local hangout. read more

I have ate here on a couple different occasions the service has never been outstanding but the food always is! The seafood tacos are very yummy. I did have a Thanksgiving party catered from here and it cost me $200 and I fed about 30 people Thanksgiving dinner and still have leftovers. The food was absolutely amazing and they followed all my little directions very well. They were very professional about it it was on time and the turkey was cut just how I had asked. Love this place! It is Whitney Oaks best kept secret! Please read the last two reviews as they are more recent since the casino took over the grounds and the bar and grill. My friends and I like to meet and have lunch here every few months. A frequent destination for my husband and I for drinks and a nice dinner without the hassle of driving downtown. The food is excellent and esthetically beautiful! The service is top-notch! Did I mention the prices are super reasonable! The views are breath taking! We've lived in Whitney Oaks for the past 6 years and really enjoy coming to the Pyramid for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service is always prompt and courteous, the golf course views and the food are great. Most recently for lunch or dinner we've had the BBQ Pork Ribs (delicious with amazing house made sauce), Cobb Salad, Fish and Chips, French Dip and Turkey Burger and all were exceptionally good. This place is a joke. Since Thunder Valley purchased over a year ago it has gone rapidly down hill. The bar staff and wait staff love their customers but are consistently embarrassed by the kitchen being able to fill orders and food quality. Do not go there if there is any event such as a wedding or golf tournament. They can not handle their food orders for regular customers. I am currently waiting for over am hour for a steal sandwich which is supposed to be lunch menu. AAA should be embarrassed to give it a 4 star rating. McDonalds has better food and provides what they advertise. The staff is leaving in groves due to stress and bad treatment. What used to be a great place to go is now horrible. read more

I have been very pleased with the wonderful attentive service of the staff, every one is friendly and helpful. Since I play golf there several times a week have had many opportunities to sample almost everything on the menu and have not had anything but excellent food. The appetizers and salads are wonderful and the entrees are delicious. The setting is gorgeous sitting on the patio overlooking the golf course enjoying a glass of wine after a round with friends is a great way to unwind. read more
