The box and donkey has amazing food and drinks live concerts. Great service, good vibes. They're Fish and Chips and their clam chowder are amazing, not to mention other things on their menu that these are a must try item like the Brussels sprout salad.. This place is great for party's and gatherings or just drinks with friends Be aware this establishment does not do DoorDash. Grovenhub, or anything like that of home delivery, you have to go to the restaurant. They do due to go orders.

The Brussel sprout Caesar salad was the best salad I've ever had! It was soooo good! Food came out quick! I added avocado to mine.

2.5 stars Interesting place but not like any other Irish pubs we've been to. The decorations and lights were neat and the environment was comfortable and chill but it wasn't a fun place if that makes sense. We went for dinner on a Friday night - maybe the fun happens later? We ordered fish and chips and clam chowder as well as onion rings to share between the two of us. It was all only ok. The fish wasn't flavorful at all. Thankfully the tarter sauce was delicious - probably the best I've ever had. The chowder was too spicy for me (I sadly don't enjoy pepper spicy but it was also weird in a clam chowder). The fries seemed like they were going to be something special but they arrived lukewarm and were meh. We paid extra for the garlic parmesan version - we found pieces of parm on the bottom of the plate - like they were just set there and fries set on top - and they added absolutely none of the good flavor normally found in garlic Parmesan fries. The onion rings were decent but over cooked, a few pieces burnt. Randy enjoyed his beer. We ordered at the counter and the food was delivered shortly after. It wasn't anything special so we won't be back.

I've had this on my list of places to try for a while now but never made it out until today. The wife and I couldn't think of what to eat and we're watching The Best Food Review Show on that bastard Sonny was doing a fish and chips special. That made me remember about this place's Fish and Chips as it has been suggested multiple times on local community forums. I was expecting a complete shit show coming in on a Friday night at 6:30, but it was mostly empty. We sat at the bar and we're promptly served. Service in general was pretty quick but upon ordering the fish and chips we were warned of a 45 minute wait as the fryer was backed up.... Considering the bar was more than half empty that's a bit concerning as most everything on the menu is fried or has a fried component....I couldn't even imagine if the place was packed. Either way though, I don't think we waited the full 45 minutes before the food came out and I have to say, it's easily the best fish and chips I've had in a VERY long time. The fish was nice and crunchy, thick, flaky, and moist. I don't know if the tartar sauce is house made but that shit was amazing. The fries were also very good. Not your normal fry....fresh cut, not frozen, well seasoned, but not shitty like In-N-Out fries. My only small gripe is it is a bit pricey by a few bucks on most of the food items, but all in all a pleasant experience.

The old guy behind the bar is great as long as you are a cool donkey. Get the clam chowder it's on point fish and chips are also on point really can't go wrong never had anything that wasn't been good. Ps it is not healthy just bar food enjoy. My wife said they have salads

Their Irish coffee is on par with the best in the world! Joe is a pro's pro and he takes care of business. Worth a trip for their Irish coffee, the only problem with this place is they close too early and aren't open 7 days a week

This was actually the first time I visited the entire downtown Roseville area, and I was pleasantly surprised there was a parking garage since all the parking spots in front of the establishment were occupied. We arrived around 1:30PM and observed a fair amount of patrons on a Monday. We were immediately greeted and seated. Loved the decor. After a few minutes mulling over what to get, I ended up getting the French Dip with duck fat fries. I also tried their Divinity Stout. Wow. The food - Amazing! Really enjoyed the French Dip - well sized portion and ended up having leftovers that I was able to enjoy a few hours later ha! The Stout (Divinity) - I need to go back and buy some bottles to go. So good! I'll definitely be back. The one minor gripe was I observed was there weren't any TV's at the bar (from what I can see anyway). I would have loved to head over here as I am writing this review to watch the NBA finals. All good!

We were all ready to go and find another restaurant, but the person seating said to wait a minute. A table was just cleared and she was able to seat us. It was a good thing we paused as we got a table in back, next to the birthday party alcove. When we walked to our seats we passed an alcove with couches and chairs and whole bunch of kids jumping and running around with a few adults mingled in. As it turns out it was a birthday party for one of the adults. They sang to him and he blew out the candles on his cake. The restaurant is quite loud, but not too loud that you could still have a conversation which was a surprised as it was so loud. This is not the place to go for a romantic dinner. It's a pub, minus the year round Shepard's pie. They change the menu twice a year and that's only served fall/winter. That was sad because that was what I really wanted to order. Service was really good, the waiter kept coming back and checking on us. We first ordered drinks, then appetizers. We go the baked Brie Board for the table (there was 4 of us). It was a really solid appetizer. We all over the baked Brie and fruits included. I would order it again for a table of 4. My husband ordered the Monk's Burger and found it very tasty. I agree it was good, but a little on the dry side and the fries wern't crispy enough and tasted old. I got the Halibut. I found it tough and hard to cut into, maybe it was over seared a bit. It didn't taste fish at all which was good. The Cherry and Currant chutney was unusually and addd a good flavor to it. I wouldn't order it again. My girlfriend ordered the Moules Frites and said it had a very generous potion and would feed two easily, though she ate it all herself after sharing some with the table. Everyone agreed it was very tasty. The presentation was good too. It came in a large pot. Lastly our other friend ordered the fish and chips and said it was a generous portion. He only ate half of it and took the other half home and he was hungry to begin with. Parking is street parking or there is a free garage a couple of blocks away and over the bridge. You can see the train passing by on the other side of the bridge. Overall it was a good meal. I though my halibut was subpar and the fries that came with the burger had the texture and taste of old fries, they were also just room temperature when they were borough out. Sadly they weren't piping hot from the frier.

The restaurant has outdoor seating and an interesting set up inside. As you walk in the bar is to the right with the kitchen in the far back. You have a small area with larger tables. Just to the left you have another room but smaller tables. At first my part was seated in the room with the small tables but knew our order, so we requested to be moved. Thankful there was a party that just left. Nachos with add-on brisket - we devoured it. There was a decent ratio of toppings as well as a healthy amount of brisket. Large pieces mostly hidden under the chips. This could be a meal on its own. 1lb fries with pesto and pulled pork - I wanted to like this. A generous portion of pulled pork to match but it was dry. The pesto aioli sauce didn't elevate or add anything. Just a subpar plate of fries. Three meat platter / double brisket (asked for fatty) and trip tip. Brisket was good, a little melt in your mouth but was lacking the smokiness and true bbq flavor you'd expect. Still a good protein. The trip tip was okay. It was cooked more than I'd like yet still a decent protein option. I def used the available condiments to elevate each bite. One thing to note - they charge for ranch, aioli sauces. Nothing that will break the bank but it would've been nice if the server mentioned it before serving us several containers of them. Overall a decent bbq spot. Is it the best? No. Is it good for this area? Sure. I'd come back for the nachos and the meat platter. Decent value for the amount of food. We walked away with leftovers which is a win in my books.

Making a reservation by phone is super easy and staff is very friendly. The owner, Al Santos, calls back to discuss further details and confirms the order which I think is such a plus especially in a world where everything is digital. We can't say enough about Al's hospitality! And the fact that he is from Niles, we loved supporting a Bay Area native! Our reservations of usually 30 or more are ready for us when we come in - Al made sure there was a table for the team and then separate ones for the parents. They also accommodate different checks - not individual ones which is difficult but we batch together orders to make it easier on the staff. Drinks are solid and pour on the cocktails solid to generous based on what everyone received. Wait staff is friendly and attentive even when the rest of the restaurant is busy. Food is solid as well. We never felt rushed during our times there. The establishment is clean, has a nice atmosphere and offers outside seating as well. And if Al is there, he'll always come over and say hi and ask how things are going- definitely something we appreciate and it's what sets Goose Port apart! Outdoor seating is also available in front. There is a bench in the entry where we sat waiting a short time for our order. It was nice that they bagged the salad last minute & separately from the hot foods. Items were packed nicely with tape to ensure containers stayed closed. Our order-- Garlic Knots--satisfying pillowy carbs, they would've been enhanced with some kind of dipper sauce, but there was no offer to add on any when we ordered Artichokes Hearts--it wasn't ideal to get these as takeout because they got soft (no ding on them), the butter dipper was rich on rich Tortellini Alfredo with Salad & house vinaigrette--hearty little bites with a tasty sauce, the salad was simple & mostly lettuce, felt a little pricey for the portion size & being a meatless dish Chicken Parmesan with Soup--nicely seasoned with good texture, came with a big portion of pasta, soup was thick & flavorful Customer service was helpful & proficient with our ordering & pick up experience.

There seemed to be lots of regulars at the bar who were waiting on her to come back from wherever she disappeared to. We came in around 430 and waited for about 10 minutes before she finally came to the bar and one of the regulars pointed at us for her to help us. We should have just left... she seemed off just from the first "how are you?" We decided to stay and give it a try. We all have bad days, right? So we ordered two beers on draft and their homemade potato chips. She stumbled her reply and said "just chips?" I said yep. We grabbed our beers from her and sat at a table. Right after that, we watched her take a big shot someone bought for her. We waited and waited and waited for our chips. Then Stevie took another break and went to vape out the front door - which she blew like at the door and it all came inside. She went outside and stayed out there for about 10 min or so just vaping - then came back in with food trash. We've been waiting about 30 min at this point for chips and we were going to order another beer and other food. My husband was standing at the bar for at least 10 min waiting to order. A friend of hers or a regular, whatever he was, went slightly behind the counter to get a beer from the fridge and just told her he was getting it. When Stevie finally came back behind the bar someone bought her another huge shot and she went to their table to chug it. At this point she was stumbling and looked very out of it. One of the regulars shook his glass and said I've been waiting about 20 min for refill. Another friend of the bartender just laughed and said yeahhhh. We were beyond annoyed and my husband as politely as he could, asked for our card back and she slurred out "what's the last name?" Got the card and went to sign the receipt- my husband said you never even put in our chips. She acted so confused. He's like remember? We ordered chips? She just stared at him like a deer in the headlights. What a mess. You shouldn't allow your employees to chug shots while working. This was before 5pm. I understand you have friends and are very well loved by everyone there which is great, but there is NO customer service here. Not even the regulars sitting at the bar get it. We tried to give this place a shot after years of passing by and we were interested in the food. The place was clean and they had a cool little dj booth in the corner. It's decorated like a sports bar... unfortunately we won't be back and I will discourage anyone from going here. There was a guy in the kitchen who seemed to care how she was acting and he apologized many times for her behavior and offered to make us free chips- we accepted but ended up leaving before because of Stevie. There was another older man there that cleaned the tables up and helped deliver food - not sure if he was the owner, he was drinking a beer behind the bar when we showed up and eating something- if he was the owner, he should watch how much his bartenders are drinking on the job. That could get messy.. good luck.
