We purchased my custom engagement ring, a ring re-design, and a simple white gold band from the prior ring we redesigned. On the first day, Sam spent 2 hours with us helping narrow down the shape of the stone I wanted. I had a very good idea of the shape I wanted but he showed me different stones because he focuses on having the customer fall in love with the stone as opposed to the specs of the stone. Which I LOVE that approach! He also has you look at the stones in natural lighting and fingerprinted (dirtied up), because that's actually what it's going to be 90% of the time. The stones look different in that environment. So on the first visit, we looked at different stones and sizes and refined the exact shape, and L to W ratio. I wanted a specific cut so I ended up custom ordering my stone and color (lab grown per my request). They took the time with me to make minor adjustments while we designed the ring by CAD. They collaborate together as a couple and make sure you get exactly what you want, while making sure your ring will hold up well. We did a little bit of shopping around before we saw Sam and Maria; their prices are fair and honest. You feel like family and know they're going to take care of you. I know I'll be going back again when I want to purchase more jewelry!

During our first visit, Sam and Maria made us feel completely welcome, comfortable, and important. We did not feel as though we were two more customers to them; they really wanted to involve us in the process and seemed to genuinely want to help us achieve our goals. Within the first few minutes of being in their presence and discussing, we glanced at each other with that knowing "this is the place" look. It was both relieving and exciting! After multiple visits, text messages, and phone calls, we had two incredible rings that could not be more perfect. Everything we asked for was made a reality. For the quality of work and services provided at the Diamond Center, you cannot find better prices out there. We will only come to Sam and Maria and recommend Maria and Sam for any jewelry! This place is located in the jewelry district in the downtown LA, which is a pain in the ass to drive to from the South Bay. For years, Paul and Linda's jewelry stand was our go-to. We bought pieces for special occasions, used their layaway system, and even received their holiday cards. There was a sense of familiarity and trust. That's why what happened next is so upsetting. In May 2025, I visited their shop to purchase a cross for my baby nephew's baptism. During that visit, I also brought in a very meaningful piece of jewelry: an 18k white gold diamond ring I had purchased for myself after graduating college. It symbolized years of hard work and sacrifice. The ring had broken due to its design, and I asked Linda if it could be repaired. She told me it couldn't be fixed as-is, but suggested adding gold to convert it into a solid band. She quoted me $150. I paid a $50 deposit and was told I could pay the balance upon pickup. I was given a receipt and left trusting my ring was in good hands. Months later, when I returned to pick it up, Paul and Linda told me they did not have my ring. They claimed that because several months had passed, I had "lost my right" to it. I was never told of any such policy. I was never called. I never agreed to any terms that would allow them to keep, or destroy, my property. After I pushed back, they said they would "check upstairs" and call me the following week. They never did. When I called, Paul told me I had no proof and insisted they never had my ring. When I went in person, he said he didn't remember anything about it. I asked to review their receipt logs, the same carbon-copy books they use for every transaction. He refused. Instead, he took me to a jewelry repair shop in the same building, Raffi's Jewelry Repair. When I showed the staff a photo of my ring, both individuals there immediately recognized it and confirmed they had worked on it. At that point, Paul suggested that the jeweler may have kept my ring. The jeweler was visibly upset and told me directly to go back to Paul, making it clear the ring had been returned to him. Back at Paul and Linda's shop, I again asked for answers. I requested they review their receipts or security footage. When Paul briefly opened the receipt book and reached the month of May, the exact timeframe of my transaction, he abruptly shut it and told me to leave or he would call security. Security was called. After hearing what happened, they recommended I contact law enforcement. While I waited for LAPD, multiple jewelers nearby approached me and shared that they had seen similar situations happen before. Several stated that customers have previously had issues getting their jewelry back. That was the moment I realized this may not be an isolated incident. Another concerning pattern: Paul and Linda have openly stated that their primary customer base is Latino. Many in our community may not feel comfortable speaking up--especially right now, when immigration concerns are high. That vulnerability should never be taken advantage of. During the confrontation, they also attempted to intimidate me by mentioning that their daughter is an attorney. At this point, they have stopped taking my calls and have made no effort to resolve the situation. This isn't just about a ring. It's about trust, accountability, and protecting our community from practices that feel deeply wrong.
