If you are a parent of a child that is not well and you call the child's physician expecting to get relief for your child, but you are being told that the schedule to see the dr is full, but...... if you pay more money, they can get you into see the dr, wouldn't you be offended?? I dont care about company policy, I dont care that all the vets are doing this, IT DOESNT MAKE IT RIGHT! this is what I'm being told today as I try and get my companion in, she's not well and as a dog mom when your dog isn't well, you aren't either.. The manager gets on the line and has no compassion whatsoever, she's rude and very insensitive. No one in this life is compassionate anymore, its just "business " to them, no heart, no feeling, just straight up money hungry. Unfortunately, there are hardly any good people left. I will say this tho, I'm taking my business elsewhere that's for sure, I would not want to take my animals to a place where you are just a cha ching kinda deal! If you dont care, I'm not trusting you to my sick animals PERIOD. All you care about is how much money you can make off of hurting, distraught, worried individuals who care about their animals and are in a spot of vulnerability and all you do is TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE LIKE THAT! SHAME ON YOU! GREEDY business you are! I will not step one foot in your establishment EVER AGAIN! Oh and the conversation that was had between the dr and I on the phone lady night, absolutely pointless! You were more worried about having a 15 minute conversation about nothing! Well, I was fired as a customer today because on Monday I called out the front office on their unprofessionalism. Back story, I have been going to this office for YEARS, never have had a problem until Monday. On Monday, we took our dog in for a regular visit. Husband took dog in early and sat down to wait to be called. No one ever communicated that they were behind he just sat there watching people come in after him and get taken back. One of the girls finally looked over and said oh I am sorry they will be right with you. You are next. Visit great no problems then check out. He listened to the front office staff talk about our account something about a charge then one of the girls said just charge them. Not knowing what is was all about, my husband let it go. He paid and left. I called to ask for a itemized receipt. The receipt looked pretty off as it had charges back from April 2026. So I called back. I was told that back in April I was charged incorrectly so they were collecting the funds that were not collected back in April. Now of course I am upset. Not cussing at them upset but yes raised my voice. I told them that it was unprofessional to bill a customer without telling them first what they were being billed for. That it was a bad business practice. How many more could this have been done to? How many times has it been done to me? How could I trust them to care for my dog when they cannot be trusted to bill correctly? I said that I wanted to speak with a manager because they had not asked anyone in charge how to handle this they made the decision themselves. Another girl gets on the phone and says office manager is out but she will have the vet/co-owner call me back after she was free at noon. Around 2pm still no call so I sent an email. Again reiterating that this was unacceptable and that her staff needs to be held accountable for this behavior and the business in general needs to look into their billing practices. Again going back 5 months after the fact and not informing the customer. I get a call back shortly after from the vet/co-owner and she apologizes and when I start to speak she said I have a customer waiting but you go ahead and talk. So yes was she trying to make excuses and get off the phone 100%. She clearly didn't like that I was calling them out over the lack of professionalism and poor billing practices. She offered to have her office manager call me back the next day but that call did not occur until today where I was told that they were firing me as a customer. Supposedly, I made the front office girl cry. Not yelling not cussing but saying if you were my employee you would be fired was crossing the line. I will not say that my dogs have every had bad treatment at this location but I will say that their front office staff are a bunch of young girls and they chat and giggle and goof around. They are young I get it I was once as well. But there is a general lack of professionalism in their office. And to top it off, this was all over a $4. Yes that is correct they are coming after me for $4, 5 months after the fact. Never once even had the curtesy to contact me or even the office for this visit tell me that this was there. So yeah, more consequences for the customer calling out the behavior than the people that messed up the billing to begin with. Seriously if they are that money hungry then I would be cautious. Clearly priority is not the health of our beloved pets but their pocket book! read more

My family and 3 golden doodle fur babies have been coming to Pyramid Veterinary for a little over 13 years. We have seen many vets throughout the years, from our girl Mez' pregnancy to 6 puppies to elderly - to our eldest boys last day. We have always had good customer service when trying to schedule and have questions on procedures. We would have liked to be familiar with one vet but we seem to see someone new each time. We recently went through one of our hardest moments in the loss of our eldest pup Koko. We chose to go with Pyramid for the in office euthanasia. Staff were very supportive during the process but we were surprised to find we were charged for the procedure during the process. We would have liked to pay afterward or before. Perhaps a more comfortable room padding for our pup and family. But we did appreciate the wooden box for the ashes it was beautiful along with the poem. We do appreciate the staff at Pyramid Veterinary for taking care of our pups throughout each stage of their lives. read more

Came here for a second opinion after a bad experience at a different highly rated pet hospital in Sparks. We have a senior pitbull who had a bad reaction to anesthesia at the other hospital, but the doctors at PVH were very knowledgeable and careful with the anesthesia so our pibble had no issues after her procedure. All the staff are very kind and friendly and we feel very comfortable bringing our pets here :) read more

Extremely disappointed in Dr. McFarren Brought my 6 year old cat (Roxie) in for a canine tooth extraction. Noticed she was not eating all of her food the past 2 days and saw she had a loose lower canine tooth. Went in yesterday and saw a different Vet provider (Dr. Morgan) who was more than informative and amazing, as well as the front staff and vet technicians. She set us up with an appointment for surgery today with Dr. McFarren. Arrived at the clinic at 8:15am, and was brought back to a room with a Vet tech which did not introduce her self and initially we thought she was the surgeon. After I asked her what time she will be doing surgery today, she informed my wife and myself that she is not the surgeon, but the surgeon will do a pre-operative assessment and subsequent phone call to us regarding the procedure (tooth extraction). The tech also said if any further teeth need to be extracted, the team would call us prior to any other extractions. At 12:30pm, we called the office and no answer (presumed lunch break). We called back again at 1:00pm and was told Roxie is already under anesthesia and about to go through the procedure. 2:15pm, my wife and I received a phone call that Roxie is out of surgery, and 6 total teeth were extracted. We got a text from the clinic and met with Dr. McFarren at 4:30pm to pick up our cat. Dr. McFarren explained that Roxie had some cavities and her lower canine tooth was loose. At no point she did or her team contact us regarding the extraction of the other teeth. I explained I would have preferred a phone call and likely would have just extracted 1 or 2 teeth today and scheduled future subsequent extractions to be performed in a staged approach, over several months. The other teeth were extracted at no additional charge, but this is not the point. This is not our point of contention nor is this a commentary on the providers work ethic or technical skill. At no point in todays procedure did we give any consent for additional teeth extractions nor did any provider or staff members contact us regarding Roxie's updated condition. After I told Dr. McFarren that my wife and I would have appreciated communication regarding this, instead of an apology we were given an arrogant comment "I did not know I need to call you about every tooth that needs to be extracted". Roxie is not her pet! This was not an emergent procedure and Dr. McFarren should not justify her actions rather should have admitted she was not transparent and just apologized. Instead, we were demeaned during our meeting with her. As a healthcare provider (hospitalist), I asked to see radiographic imaging and pictures. She did show my wife and I this, and I do not dispute her clinical judgement regarding cavities being present, however do feel violated that she had performed multiple unconsented non-emergent extractions without any communication between my wife and myself. I find this to be reckless in nature and would caution anyone bringing their pet to this specific provider to obtain full verbal or written consent/ before undergoing any procedure. Again, I believe this could have been staged in multiple procedures performed over several months as opposed to all in one day, so as to potentially reduced post-operative pain to allow for proper healing and feeding. Ultimately, Roxie is not her pet, she is ours. To perform additional unauthorized surgery without our knowledge or consent for the agreed upon single tooth extraction and then finding out that 5 additional teeth extractions for just cavities is audacious at best. A professional whose decision making is deterministic of veterinary outcomes should, in my humble opinion, behave in a less cavalier manner and show contrition when wrong doing is suspected. The audacity for someone to treat their clients with such condescension and lack of circumspection is the reason for this review! At no point of conversation was a sincere apology rendered by the provider. I believe this situation warrants further investigation. read more

Have been coming here with our dogs for about 3 years now and it's okay! We typically see different doctors and assistants every visit, so we haven't had a chance to really establish a relationship with anyone. The wait is long to be seen, we typically have to book out a couple months in advance for vaccines, but this year I was able to get an appointment in about 2 weeks which was nice. Everyone is friendly enough. Nothing super special and not the most welcoming place I've ever been, but the drs we have seen have seemed to care about our pets and have all been kind. The exam fee is $75 in addition to the vaccines which makes sense to me, however I don't see much of an exam happening. Kinda touch the dog around and quickly look in ear and mouth. the "exam" lasts like 1 minute so I think that charge is a bit high but anything for these fur kids. read more

We had one really good vet here, but experienced one that was so-so, and another that was pretty awful and argumentative. We took all our pets and our grown children's pets here for years and spent major amounts of money for teeth cleanings, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, injuries, and unfortunately, surgeries. However, when my dog needed to be seen soon because she was shaking her head and clawing at her ear after a walk, I had to practically beg them to see her and had to pay an extra "emergency" fee. When we started coming here, you could come in in the morning and sit and wait to be seen if it was urgent but you didn't have an appointment, and they would squeeze you in. No longer I guess. They also nearly insisted she had been bit by a snake, but I suspected it was a foxtail, and it was. It was just too far in for us to find it and remove it ourselves. More recently, my dog became ill and was losing weight rapidly. We called to be seen, and the wait was over two weeks out. That was it for me. If you don't have time for a recurring customer, we don't have time (or money) for you either. Perhaps they became too popular and therefore too big for their britches. We went to another vet, and I'm very pleased with them and will stay with them. read more

Been going to this vet for nearly 15 years. Today was the first day of a truly horrible routine vet visit. The "doctor's" name was Lopez, he was a complete a$$hole. The minute he saw our animals, he went hard about their weight. Mind you, my chihuahua has been at this weight for years. All of the other vets know how to discuss pet weight issues appropriately. But this guy came in hard. Never can my 14 year old dog have treats again! Yeah, sure buddy. And speaking of needing to miss having treats, this choad needs to look in the mirror. Homeboi needs to miss treats as well. A complete sanctimonious pr$!k. If you go to this vet clinic, just avoid Dr Lopez at all costs. Today was a big day for Major. He got his shots, nail trim, glands and a great check up by the incomparable Doc Williams. Doctor Williams and his Wonderful nurse, Jilian made for a great experience not just for us caring parents, but for our nervous lil boy, Major. They were both So Kind, So Caring. He left there feeling 10 feet tall. We have finally found our little boy a Great Veterinary Center. Thanks again excellent team at Pyramid Veterinary Clinic. They were incredibly helpful when I first brought my puppy in and were able to give some tips and tricks via phone one day when I called up dealing with my puppy's separation anxiety & kenneling issues. Fast-forward a few months & I just got her spayed and they followed up to see how she was doing and asked if there was any questions we had about post-op with her. They really do care about your pet. The first thing you want when taking a precious fur baby to a vet is basic humane respect. This veterinary hospital's staff are far from it. From condensending tones, passive aggressive attitudes, to just flat out lies to each other it's impossible to be seen and treated as a person. I met Jen who works the front desk and the manager Jennifer. It seems like they only cared about what each other had to say and were blatant and outright in their disrespect. I know many people who have been coming here for a while and although Jen and Jennifer are two specific names many of the other staff members give the same treatment. We've been trying to leave for years and we had the final blow. Not to mention the unorginization with appointments, bookings, prescriptions. The main parts a vet should have handled - they don't. Please find someplace where you and your fur baby will be treated with respect. I've gone through other reviews and this is a reoccurring issue that many locals have experienced. I already left a review but not a super detailed one. My dog was peeing all over himself in his sleep, so I called as soon as I could to see what we could figure out. I can't remember the name of the girl helping me but she should be talked to about her customer service. I called at 7:30am and I had asked if they had any appointments available today because somethings wrong with my dog and that I thought I booked one online where she proceeds to tell me in a snippy tone that they don't do appointment booking online, that it's a request for an appointment and that they're booked for the week. So I had asked if they had like an emergency or urgent care, where she told me I'd have to go to the emergency vet if I want anything like that and then I had asked if they had a cancellation list or anything like that where she told me "you're more than welcome to sit in the lobby for hours if that's what you want to do" where I replied actually I'm never coming here again and she just said okay bye. If this is how they treat those trying to get information, or even to book an appointment I can't imagine how I'd be treated in any other situation. read more

What a great place. Wow. I switched vet clinics so I could get closer to where I live now, they were so nice the minute I walked in and said hello and they all were chatting with my little dog Pippy. When I was a freshly widow (now it's been 3 months) this office- specifically Jen and Jennifer were extremely rude to me. I told them to cancel the prescription since we were switching vet offices. We recently brought our cat of 15 years, Sherbet, after he started to fall ill. After a few weeks of treatment, it was determined that old age was catching up and his systems were failing. With a heavy heart, we decided to euthanize. We were given all the time needed to say our final farewell's. The vets, Drs Williams and Lopez, were the best ever. The staff were very supporting and gave their condolences. I'm sure it was as difficult for them as it was for my wife and me. I had taken Harley to this vets office when he was a kitten, but for some reason we started taking them to another vet. Initially I was happy with our first visit here. Just a well check for my dog and prescription refill for heart worm meds etc. a visit in the time of COVID looks like pulling into a space, making a check in call, and the. They come take your pet inside for the visit and bring back out. We were informed of a vaccine needed in case we headed into CA and so at the time it seemed wise to maybe get it. When they brought our boy out we were told he would need a booster and I asked about making an appointment. I was told someone would call me to schedule that. So we went home and life got busy with birthdays and holidays... and I finally call back to inquire about getting this booster because no one called and the receptionist informs me that I now have to redo the first vaccine and then get the booster because it's been too long. So lesson learned. If you don't want to pay twice, no matter what a vet or vet tech tells you, at Pyramid Veterinary Hospital you have to call back or end up paying twice and sticking your dog again. The fact that one of their employees told me otherwise does not matter to them. read more

I absolutely LOVE everyone here!!! I got my fur baby Nala spayed and everyone from the front desk to the technicians to the doctor were incredibly helpful and informative. They answered all my questions and 21/2 week later my Nala is happy and full of energy. The office and rooms are very clean and the whole place had a great energy and you can tell that everyone that works there loves animals. I will definitely be going back to continue with Nala shots and all of her well being appointments. Also I want to say that I called many... MANY veterinary offices, hospitals and they cost anywhere from $500-$1500 and nothing would be included apart from the actual spay. At Pyramid Veterinary cost depends on weight of animal, and in the price I paid they included pain meds and calming medicine, and because I saved money I was able to get her shots updated. My last vet, Dr. Thompson, only saw felines. So in preparation to getting a Goldendoodle puppy this year, I spent quite a bit of time internet researching veterinarians, speaking to office personnel and visiting the 8 practices I had narrowed my search down to. I finally decided on Pyramid Veterinary Hospital because of the doctors' experience, friendly & patient staff, cleanliness, recommendations from friends, and most importantly, the doctors' and staffs' goal of providing stress free visits for their patients. We've had the typical puppy visits, each culminating in a detailed Examination Record sheet and parking lot visit with the doctor. We are just recently dealing with a seroma which developed without visible injury. Dr. Maker is so dedicated, giving up her lunch time so that she can monitor our pup pretty much on a daily basis. Dr. Maker's love for her patients is evidenced by her compassion, gentle handling, knowledge and reassurance she has given me that things will be okay. Each doctor I have dealt with has been exceptional. Dr. Gilbert spayed our girl at about 7 months. The incision and suturing were beautifully done, no visible sutures. Our pup healed quickly with virtually no scarring. I highly recommend Pyramid Veterinary Hospital. Everyone I have dealt with has been wonderfully.
