I've stayed here before and I am going to stay here again this week. It's my second favorite to Town House Motel. It's ok.

Come hungry they serve multiple, delicious courses that are pre set and then you choose whatever entree you would like to have. It is lumberjack style seating so you more than likely will be sharing one big table with folks not in your party.

Dinner is shared traditional style with other customers, but I prefer a nice entree lunch sitting at the bar. The main bartender, Candace, always takes good care of my friends and I! The food was incredible...I had to stop here twice during my two week visit! The lamb shank was enormous, tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired with mint sauce. The Frenchie's Lamb Dip was juicy pieces of their famous lamb on top of buttery toast. The Santa Rosa steak sandwich was an entire steak dinner between two slices of the same buttery toast, cooked just right, juicy, and flavorful. I also was obsessed with their clam chowder, which was creamy and hearty. Their hominy appetizer is also amazing and perfect with the "fairy-dust" seasoning at table side! Of course, no Basque meal is complete without a Picon punch, a traditional Basque drink that is otherwise very hard to come by. Picon bitters are only found in certain areas and is under a lot of legal protection. The drink is a mix of Torani Amer, grenadine, and brandy that's both sweet and bitter. This will forever be a staple stop whenever coming through Winnemucca and worth it every time!

Although we had requested a pet-friendly room, I don't think urine stains, lingering odors, and fleas are acceptable--especially when paying good money for a stay. The walls were dirty, and the furnishings were very outdated, which only added to the unpleasant atmosphere. When we voiced our concerns, the front desk offered us the only other available pet-friendly room, but it was even worse. Their only solution was to spray the carpet with cleaner to mask the smell, which was hardly reassuring. We were exhausted, but I was ready to leave, even if it meant losing the money for the night. However, a kind staff member noticed we were upset and came over to ask if there was a problem. I showed her the room, and her immediate reaction was that it smelled terrible. She went to the front desk and, surprisingly, managed to find a more acceptable room for us--one she personally checked before offering it. They claimed it had just become available due to a cancellation, but considering the hotel was maybe a quarter full, I found that hard to believe. In the end, we stayed because we were tired and the new room, while still dated, at least didn't smell. My advice: if you're traveling with a pet, look for another place to stay. Even if you're not, I'd recommend a different hotel, as I found the staff to be less than honest. The hotel next door looked much better, and the helpful staff member even suggested we stay there next time.
