First stay here. 106. Validating what many others have said as still true. Very clean with comfy beds. Spartan and simple in the best possible way. Fans are adjustable, touch controls, but I like a good breeze. Current manager is very friendly and goes the extra mile to help out. TV trick if you want to watch...Turn TV on manually and adjust volume at set. Then use DIRECTV remote to find stuff. Lack of 100% integration of TV and DIRECTV is not that rare a thing. Nice stop in Winnemucca in the heart of the main drag. Two queens for $65. Microwave. Fridge. TV. WiFi. Clean. Cheap. Scottish! Lady at the check-in was nice. Popular spot for crews out working on mining projects. Short walk to Koreana restaurant to the east - very delicious. In the other direction is Hanson Street Liquors which has some nice craft beer and wines. read more

We stayed here, tucked back there, in room 104, because after checking out a couple other places we think THIS PLACE is FAR UNDERRATED on Yelp. Especially with decent WiFi in our room! Yes, the Shady Court is less expensive and really a great value at the lower price, but the ONE BED rooms at Shady Court are really small!! (See my Yelp review on Shady Court) The one bed room here is not huge but significantly larger with more room to spread things out AND it has a small dining table. We haul in a lot of stuff and we didn't feel cramped here. We tend to stay at mom and pop one of a kind motels every chance we get. They are usually budget priced and just more fun. They are ALWAYS a forever work in progress. Nobody could afford to buy them and rebuild them and rent them at a reasonable rate. But SOMETIMES we find a REAL GEM and have to set the record straight...the SCOTTISH NNS definitely qualifies as a REAL GEM and I'm setting the record straight! This place has been owned and managed by Ketan & Jago for 25 years. They have raised their family here. This is their home and they plan to stay forever. They love this place and IT SHOWS IN THE WAY IT IS CARED FOR. At first look with the beautiful new roof and great paint, I thought it had just been refurbished so I asked Ketan and he explained NO, he's trying to keep things nice so he is always improving it. So yes, you can nitpick around and find some imperfection that needs a touch up, but in general this place is AMAZINGLY CARED FOR. The office was not air conditioned yesterday, no doubt to save costs, but I assure you the room AC worked great. And YES there is a wonderful AROMA of Indian Spices wafting thru the air as you enter the office...it smells delicious to us because we love good Indian food! I bet they could do a great business if they offered dinners! Made me hungry to check in! Ketan just re-tiled the bath in room 104...really nice too. I highly recommend 104 because it's tucked in behind 105 and backing in provides the most convenient parking, especially if walking is difficult for you. Ketan's wife, Jago, is beautiful and was so nice when I asked to see a room. We stopped here FIRST so we could compare. I recommend you stop in and check it out before you decide. They will give a discount if you book directly with them instead of Hotels.com. I did not realize Hotels charges them a 20% service fee. Unfortunately I needed ONE more night to get my free night. But after reading the fine print in that Hotels.com deal, I won't be bothering to do it again. I'd much rather support a small business like Scottish Inns than a huge corporate giant like Hotels.com. My room was clean, bed was confortable however i couldn't find tv remote. Lucky i have my ipad so i can watch netflix. Inreally don't like the AC unit is right on my head and it is pretty noisy. Price is inexpensive. Location is walking distance to restaurants. read more

Clean rooms and good price. Looks like it was remodeled since the last time we stayed here a couple of years ago. Front desk clerk was helpful and nice. Noisy ac/heating unit. Shower head needs replacing but nice stream and plenty of hot water. Fire detector was hanging from the wall and one of the wires were cut. Would stay here again read more

Room was cold when I stepped in and the heater took a long time to heat the room up. Shower was weird where the cold was actually hot, vice versa. The sink faucet was leaky and could not turn it off. The owners at least seem really nice and friendly. Prob worth paying a bit more for one of the hotel chains in town. read more

They moved their personal cars so that we could park our expensive classic cars in the 2 best spots on the property! The room was clean, quiet and extremely comfortable. I'm not sure what is Scottish about this place - the office reeks of Indian curry all hours of the day. The lady at the front desk was nice and negotiated a great price with me - relative to the rates found online. The room was cold and the wall heater made horrible rattling noises and eventually did not put out heat. I shut it off to sleep. The bed was pretty springy. Lots of water noises from pipes in the wall. read more

The Inn is a good deal for the money. We were headed to Yellowstone and got tired on the road just as we happened upon Winnemucca. Hard to believe but the hotels were packed in this sleepy little town! The inn had one vacancy and we grabbed. We were pleasantly surprised. The room looked to be newly renovated. Clean mattress (yes I checked!) flat screen tv, tiny but clean and functional bathroom. They even had a microwave and fridge in room. Plus the staff was friendly I wouldnt go out of my way to stay here. But if I find myself tired in the desert late at night in Winnemucca this is where I'd stay. read more

This is a great basic hotel that has everything you need; cleanliness, great beds/linens, pillows, remodeled bathroom, tv and WiFi plus quietness. We paid $77 plus tax so $89 total. No bkfst but just coffee which was fine with us. So glad we didn't spend another $50 for a chain motel. read more

Due to a winter storm, we were stuck in Winnemucca for the night. I had "researched" possible overnight accommodations prior to leaving Salt Lake City for back to the Bay Area (just in case), and chose Scottish Inn (the sign in front actually says "The Scottish Inns", which makes the whole place sound a lot more quaint than it actually is) for its proximity to The Griddle Restaurant, where we had had lunch driving through to SLC. And the posts were generally favorable. Why am I giving the place only two stars? 1. Room was noisy due to someone constantly running the heater in the room below on the first floor. 2. Doorknob to bathroom seemed to be on backward, so your impulse is to turn one way but then it wouldn't open. 3. No option to not have the noisy fan on in the bathroom if you wanted a light. 4. Towels so worn and scratchy, I doubt even an animal shelter would accept them! 5. No outdoor lights in front of any of the 2nd floor units. When I asked the office person about it, he said they were on a timer. OK, so? It's dark at 6 a.m. in the winter. Reset the timer! 6. The stairs leading to the ground floor were icy and not treated with any salt or something like that. The stairs to the office were also icy and when I asked the clerk about that, he said it wasn't 8 a.m. yet and he wasn't going to do anything about it until he started his day officially. (when I returned at 9 the stairs still hadn't been treated, the guy said he was going to do it ... maybe he meant someday.) I guess they're not concerned about liability lawsuits! It was that attitude that I found difficult to understand. No sense of customer service. Finally, 7. No hair dryer! What place doesn't have a hair dryer in this century? On the positive side: The heater did work well, the bed was comfortable, linens clean. The walls looked as if they had been recently painted in pleasing curry-like colors. Wi-Fi worked well. Conveniently located to the Griddle. Price was ok. Oh, and since the Griddle serves weak coffee (by Bay Area standards, mind you), go across the street to Delizioso Global Coffee for a good shot of caffeine, world citizen vibe, and delicious pastries. From the outside, eh. The people hanging in the parking lot, uh. Once inside, nice, clean, quiet, all the amenities you can ask for. Quite nice, inexpensive and pet friendly. The interior is slightly outdated but who cares as long as it's clean and quiet. We stayed just one night on our trip to Oregon from Utah. The room was clean, the bed wasn't too hard, had WiFi, flat screen TV, microwave and small fridge. The reason I gave it only 3 stars is just because the room was so small, the bed was only a Queen but that could have been my husband's fault when he booked it, and I had terrible time getting out of the bathroom every time. You had to pull with both hands to yank the door open. Otherwise the manager was very friendly and overall if you don't mind it being small for a quick overnight, then it's a good bargain. read more

Kinda tiny, but has everything you need! There's wifi, a big flatscreen, a recently renovated bathroom, microwave, and fridge. No coffee maker but they provide coffee in the office in the morning. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The only thing that was a little weird was the deadbolt didn't work on the door and the bathroom didn't lock. Felt safe though, so it didn't really bother us. Other reviewers talked about it smelling like curry... the office (not the rooms) definitely has a curry smell because the family lives there- duh! Let's be real though, curry is probably one of the least offensive things I've smelled in a motel. Overall, I would definitely return. read more

You never know what you are going to get when you search and book online, but Scottish Inns was a pleasant surprise. We had great service with a large room. The beds and pillows were super comfy and the addition of a blackout curtain helped us get much needed rest after our travels. The room came with a huge tv which performed well. The fresh flowers planted were an added nice touch. The Inn is with walking distance of restaurants and casinos for your convenience. The building is older, but well kept with fresh paint. I would recommend Scottish Inns to anyone looking for a refreshing respite from their travels at an affordable price. read more

We've stayed here a bunch of times. The location is very central; it's close to the convention center and restaurants we like. We like that the rooms have refrigerators and microwaves, and the rates are better than some of the chain motels in town--I just can't bring myself to pay $90 or $100 a night for a room in Winnemucca. It's an older building, but the room we stayed in recently got a partial update: cheery new paint, a very comfy pillowtop mattress, and a flat-screen TV. Not yet fixed in our room: no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so the new paint is peeling, and the deadbolt on the entry door didn't work at all. The doorknob lock still worked, and I'm not too worried in Winnemucca. Gold mining is booming in Winnemucca, and this motel is popular with drill workers, so the parking lot is full of big, muddy trucks, and you'll hear all the drill workers getting ready for work at 4:00 a.m. Be sure to make a reservation if this is where you want to stay; drill workers don't want to pay $100 a night either. read more
