For a $10 cover (Friday night 06/12/2026) you get a lively dance floor, great drinks, an awesome DJ, and music that keeps the energy high all night. The crowd was fun, the vibes were right, and it felt like one of those nights where everyone came to have a good time. I rolled in with my BFF IG @djbarbequee, but as the sober designated driver, I was the real wingman of the evening. While others were enjoying their cocktails, I was performing the critical public service of making sure everyone got home safely. Great music, great atmosphere, and a great night out. We visited on Monday for the Underwear Night event. When we arrived, the only people there were a drag performer and a server. As tourists, we politely asked the server if the event was taking place there, and his response came across as very sarcastic and annoyed, as though our question was an inconvenience. Unfortunately, this was not a welcoming first impression. As visitors to the city, we expected a friendlier and more inclusive atmosphere. Hospitality is especially important for tourists who may be unfamiliar with the venue or local events. Given the experience, it was not surprising that the venue appeared nearly empty at 10:00 PM. Dance bar in the Castro. I've been here two times on Sundays and it's wasn't crowded at all. My last visit was 3/22/26. Has gender neutral restrooms, more than 1. I had 1 mixed drink at $5 and a bottled beer at $5. Don't know if that was regular or a special. price. Live DJ, good sized dance floor, not sure how much space would be available if it was crowded though. Bartender was the same from the first time I visited. He was very nice. Stopped by for the Heated Rivalry Rave and the Vibes were amazing!! The bar tenders were so nice, the DJ did an amazing job and the drinks were great! I stopped in here on a week night out, just doing a little bar hopping and catching up with one of my favorite people, and I had a super disappointing experience . We had just come from another place a few blocks away that had great atmosphere and I was really shocked that there was not a single patron inside Q Bar. That is not an exaggeration. The only other person inside the entire space was the bartender . At one point during our visit someone did walk in, but they quickly left . I wish we had been that smart. We ordered some drinks and sat down but a few minutes later we were told that the CO2 was out so they had no soda water for drinks. We definitely should have left at that point. Instead, we ordered drinks that we would not traditionally have. I got a Mai Tai and I believe the person I was with just had a white claw or something in a can. It was awkwardly quiet while we waited and I could tell we both felt uncomfortable, so I was excited to get our drinks. Unfortunately I took a sip of the Mai Tai and the juice that was used was absolutely rancid. Like, well beyond it's expiration. I almost threw up. Normally I would have said something, but the whole situation was so sad. We just wanted to get out of there. I have no idea if this was a one-off or if this place is terrible all of the time but I would definitely not return. read more

I was here last night with my friends and I went up to order a drink , Hennessy and Red Bull , of course I know that if I'm ordering Hennessy it's more expensive then a well drink which is totally fine . My drink comes out to $14 and with tip $16 and some change . I then order another drink the same thing and a tequila redbull and now my bill jumps to $36 so when I had asked the bartender why the bill was so high he flat said " I don't know" and when I tried asking him how much each drink cost he couldn't tell me , he acted as if he didn't know . He also said that he wasn't able to do a refund because he doesn't know how to. He said to dispute the charge with my bank which to me doesn't make any sense . So after not getting helped after being over charged $12 he then shows me on the iPad a Hennessy and Red Bull is $14 and a tequila redbull is $10.86 so how was I charged $12 extra and for what exactly ? The fact that he couldn't explain it to me was very upsetting . I love this place and will continue to come by but please CHECK YOUR BILL when your paying . He didn't know he was overcharging me until I pointed it out . I will say that he gave me a cash refund but I don't see why he just didn't do that in the first place . read more

I had a disappointing experience at Q Bar recently. When I ordered a Moscow Mule, the bartender immediately made the drink with the well vodka before I had the chance to specify a brand. When I tried to clarify, he became hostile and told me I should have specified upfront, then told me to leave. The bar wasn't very busy, so there was no reason the situation couldn't have been handled with patience or a simple question. Instead, it became unnecessarily tense and embarrassing. I wasn't trying to cause any issue. I was just trying to order a drink like anyone else. I hope Q Bar addresses this kind of behavior so that guests are treated with basic respect and courtesy in the future. read more

I came here 420 weekend (well 4/19) and had a great time. The security guards (one guy early on and a woman as well later) were very friendly, helpful and didn't give us a hard time for going in and out to smoke (cig and vape). The bartenders (particularly the cute long haired guy) was super friendly, made good conversation and made great tequila sunrises. The bathrooms were clean. The water station was convenient and always stocked. The go go dancer was super friendly too! We went on a tribute night (Kylie M ) but I could tell the music otherwise would be fun, pop and dance types. It was a bit dead until around 10:00 PM but that's no surprise, I personally prefer that because when it gets crazier at 12 AM there's still room to have fun/socialize without feeling like you're going to be crushed. My roommate and I checked out this club/bar for my birthday night! We were roaming around Castro Street as it is a hub for the LGBTQ+ community. We wanted to look for BIPOC welcoming environments and a club that does drag events as well. We checked it out after going to Twin Peaks to hang out! We love being surrounded by other BIPOC queer folx, so it feels safe for us to just be, which is an important factor in our gay club going experience. We both saw events that were coming up such as Doll House where drag performers are going to be at. other queer events. We are excited to come back for events. It is small inside so there wasn't much to go off of, but there were hung up vinyls on the walls. read more

For being EMPTY on a Tuesday night, you'd think the bouncer (bald African American) would be doing his job well and with respect. Makes perfect sense that all their reviews since re-opening have all been 1-star Two of us came by while waiting for the rest of our party (15-16 people) to celebrate a handful of milestones I peeked in to check out the "new" q bar since we haven't been back since it's re-opening. I say hi and ask the bouncer a question. He ignores me and I repeat my question, "when did you guys reopen?" He looks down on his phone. He looks at me as if I had just done something wrong, I realize that he had his AirPods on so I ask "can you hear me?" He is now obviously agitated. I say "sorry, can I ask you a question?" He takes off his AirPod and angrily says "NO HI? Listen, I've been anxiously anticipating the return of Qbar since 2019, thrilled they finally opened back up, BUUUUUUT 3/4 times I've tried to go they have been closed. The one time I did get in it was dead, the floors were very sticky, and the "glasses" smelled badly, my cocktail was undrinkable. Went on Saturday and, after paying a cover, spent an hour listening to the DJ yelling, "White people watch and learn how to dance!", "Latinos in the house show the white people how to dance.", "Let's get a white person in the middle and see how you dance.","It's my birthday!", and continued to ridicule white customers over the sound systems while not mentioning anyone else. Didn't expect racism, intolerance, and exclusivity in a bar in the Castro in 2019. The atmosphere became extremely uncomfortable and threatening. We could only deal with it for an hour and my friends and I decided to go to a bar not promoting racism and hate. I sometimes even dance to commercials. It's true. I've boogy-ed to gum ads, mouthwash commercials. And I'm sure at some point I've even broke it down to AT&T's jingles. If I detect the slightest of beats - I can't help it. My body leads the way. So walking into Q Bar is beat heaven. Their DJ's always seem to be spinning quality beats seamlessly. Jamming "on point" music that you really have to seek out - in the rest of the city. Current radio stuff that will have you hip-rolling well into the night, sandwiched with some commendable throw-backs. I've been here a handful of times with friends during the week - and I tend to go earlier on in the night. Since I rarely stay late - the dance floor and seating booths are always pretty open and easy to navigate. I'm not sure what Q Bar is like on the weekends and how crowded it can get - but as of now - it's prime dancing territory with talented DJs and a friendly crowd. My friend lives right up the hill and has his studio there. Our other friends that produce music visit with him often. Yes, super cheap happy hour surprisingly on a Saturday (until 9 pm) with buy one get one free drinks, but who knows what they're using because I felt like shit afterward. The bar is cash only. There's an ATM toward the back, but obviously there's the annoying $2 fee. I was definitely ignored for awhile as all the boys next to me were served first. The dance floor is tiny, and you have to constantly walk through the middle of it to get to the bathrooms if you're in the seated area toward the front of the "club". Online it said Saturday nights are supposed to have 90s hip-hop and r&b but they were playing cheesy 80s rock and early 2000s top 40 instead. The only positive things I can say is the doormen were super nice and the crowd is attractive and friendly. read more

After everyone paid cover charge mind you and they took our drink money but did not give us our drinks that were paid for. They charged the card and are commiting fraud, probably every night.
