    Cereal coffee flight

The coffee flight is such a fun and creative idea. I really liked the Lucky Charms and biscoff coffees. This was also a fun place to sit and work for a few hours, and the surrounding neighborhood is so fun too.

This is such a cozy placed tucked up north in lakeview. They have options from the barista drinks you can choose from and I got their strawberry shortcake lattte iced which was so good. It's so cute here and plenty of seating. You can study here or even WFH and it's quiet that you can even take calls here too. Will be back to try more in their menu. They also have smoothie options as well which is amazing.

We came to visit specifically for the coffee flight and it was a chill experience! Firstly, we came at a 10 am on a Friday, and it was still full of people, so it's definitely popular. But the vibes are pretty good! There are a few comfy couches and mostly tables (didn't want to take pictures of patrons). The staff was great and they answered all our questions. The coffee flight was great! They said each drink of the flight came with a shot of espresso. Taste was pretty good for all of them! Overall fan off the Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the Biscoff tastes better before the cookie melts, the pecan pie was the subtle taste, and the banana pudding was good but make sure to mix it, the flavor in the bottom didn't mix well but it did taste good, so I wish I mixed it better. My wife and I split the flight but I drink a ton of caffeine daily, so I also had the cold brew. The cold brew tasted great as well! Great visit! If I could, I'd do the coffee flight once a month. We'll be back!

If you love a flavored latte, this is the coffee spot for you! They have so many fun and unique flavors, from their cereal lattes to rotating seasonal specials to your more classic syrups. The coffee flights they offer are a great way to try a variety and find your favorite for next time. You can even get the flight iced or hot. I loved the biscoff & lucky charms lattes! Keep in mind flights are only certain hours M-F. The food was also great, we got the Cali bagel and an egg and cheese croissant. These were some of the better quality breakfast items I've gotten from a coffee spot around, which make Ancient Grounds a great place to hang out for a few hours. The inside is relatively small, but they fit as many tables as they reasonably can. They have free wifi and outlets along the wall so patrons can work while they sip. The staff is friendly and orders were made pretty quick both times I visited. I'll always recommend a local coffee spot over Starbucks, so definitely give Ancient Grounds a try!!

After seeing all the hype about the coffee flights, I decided to try this out on a Saturday only for them to let me know that the coffee flights are available on weekdays only. Please take a note of this if you are planning to visit on a weekend for the coffee flights. However, I could order the full sized versions and decided to order the lucky charms coffee. It was delicious /'d full of much charms! Loved it! This coffee shop has a lot of seating however, it was a busy day and no seats were available. I however did notice that some customers had occupied entire tables just for themselves (with one girl doing off in the corner and taking up 6 seats by herself). I was too scared to ask them to spare a seat. I saw a few customers leave due to the lack of available seating. Taking 2 stars off cz none where they had mentioned about the flights not being available on weekends and the lack of coordination from the staff to free up seats for other customers.

Such a great sit for coffee in the neighborhood! The cafe is right next to the train station so very accessible. I Came here for the first time for a quick study session and tried the seasonal maple sea salt latte it was a perfect drink for a cold day. They have coffee flight options that was very interesting and would love to return to try that next time!

    Valentine's flight - $18.75
    Tabitha W.

This coffee shop offers coffee flights, which was my primary motivation for visiting. I first tried the Christmas flight and then most recently the Valentine's flight ($18.75 for a flight of four). The price comes out to about $4.70 each, which is essentially the price of an 8 oz latte. As someone who loves trying new things, I absolutely love that you get to sample four different flavors. Service moves along pretty quickly. My biggest issue with this place is the limited seating. They start the flights at 10 AM, and we've gotten there right around this time on both visits. This place fills up at certain times, and numerous people are there for an extended time on their laptops. On our last visit, we ordered a flight, and the cashier asked if we had a table. My husband responded "no, but we'll figure something out". We lucked out in that a table opened up while we were waiting - although when I moved in to take it, I realized that we'd kind of cut in front of two other guys who were waiting for a table as well (luckily, they didn't seem bothered and just continued chatting with their coffees in hand while they waited to see if anyone else would leave.) I would love to come back for more coffee flights, but the limited seating gives me a bit of anxiety.

Went to try their coffee flights but found out that those are only available from 10-3pm from Monday-Friday. Regardless, their cereal lattes were very intriguing. I got the Lucky Charms latte and it was DELICIOUS. It didn't really taste like Lucky Charms, but it was still yummy - creamy and sweet. We also got the chaider (chai & apple cider), and it was too spicy for my liking. I am excited to go back and try their breakfast sandwiches and coffee flights. It's very cozy and would be a great place to work from or read at.

Ancient grounds has a nice interior decor, space for working, friendly staff. Unfortunately, none of this really matters because the coffee is mediocre and lacks flavor. Came here with some friends; among the drinks we had: a latte, a regular cup of coffee, and a cappuccino. All of them would qualify basically as boring. Lacking any distinct flavor. And very weak coffee. On a midweek, midday timeframe, lots of people working here (including those people having loud volume zoom calls). Noticed, however, that many of them are not getting refills. I guess all they need was a place to work and wisely limited buying the coffee. Nice people. Nice working space, but there are better places to have coffee in the neighborhood.

Stopped by here on the morning of New Year's Eve to grab one of their seasonal options, a gingerbread latte. They have monthly flights which was tempting, but I had to go with one of my favorite drinks. There were a few groups gathered that morning, so it seems like a reasonably popular place to hang out. Service was polite and relatively quick since no one else was in line. The coffee itself was in line with what I would expect from a local coffee shop, tasty and a nice presentation

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte And Bananas

Got coffee from yet another place in Lakeview East on Belmont. It seems there's tons of such places but this is one of the better of these. Ancient Grounds isn't a big place but it still manages to have a lot. Most of the menu is coffee obviously. There's also juices and pastries. About the thing most people order is coffee. It's of course the main thing to get. There's cold and hot choices and all kinds of flavors to add in these. Can be pricy for some things but not crazy. It's about $6 for a specialty coffee which is okay for around here. The best one here is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte. Has a lot of good coffee to choose from. It's also got a few breakfast sandwiches. These are made with cheese and eggs, so nothing good except bananas for vegans.

    Erica J.

I made ancient grounds my work from "home" office space on a Tuesday. I started with the yogurt, full of coconut flakes, granola and banana slices. Delicious! The table where I sat, near the "Employee Only" door, had an outlet that powered on all of my devices. I took one zoom call from here. It's pretty noisy for those who need to know, but great noise cancelling headphones will allow you to show up undistracted for a work call. There's pay-to-park street parking right out front.

Amazing service coffee was made so fast . All the people are so nice and remember my family from yesterday. Very chill ambience a little bit small but overall awesome place.

Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

I bravely went for the latin-inspired latte flights, consisting of Mexican mocha, Coquito, horchata, and cafe de Olla. My favorite out of these four was the coquito because of the coconut pieces, which blended well with the latte. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the details of the latte flight and they explained the offerings. I thought there was only one type of latte flights, but I believe the one I selected was very much suited to my preferences. "Stockyard Coffeehouse" is accessible via routes CTA 44 (Racine/Wallace) and CTA 8 (Halsted) busses. Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha!
