Overcharged and underdelivered. 2025 was our first (and…read morelast) year filing with PNW. We provided a well-organized packet of documents, which was commented on when we dropped them off. Then 3 days later was instructed to complete a very detailed filing questionnaire and instructions that our return would not be filed on time without if. We would have been fine with that if this was explained ahead of time instead of so close to 4/15. The filing review meeting was rushed and average. No tax strategies were explored for that year nor any tangible actions for the next year. Then we were given the bill which was over $2,000. Our 2024 filing was nearly a 3rd of that amount and experiences with our long-term preparer from 2006 - 2023 (who retired) was less a 1/4 for 2023. Both were professional tax advisors, and we had no major changes to our finances. We asked why it was so high and were given no plausible answer other than that is what they charge. I don't believe the Porsche's in their parking lot belong to clients. Lastly, very odd, the door to their office looked like we were entering an amateur workshop. We had concerns their premises were secure.

Yvonne was kind and said that while she'd like to prepare his taxes, the fee probably wouldn't justify the effort since he had already completed 90% of the work himself and all he needed to know was if he is allowed to claim his wife as a dependent for the whole year even though she passed away in February. I'm grateful for business owners like Yvonne who provide valuable services, but not at the expense of someone who just needs a simple question answered.
