QFC @ REDMOND I've been to this location a couple times and have always really liked it. Great people and great products. Super easy parking right out front, gets pretty busy on the weekends as it also shares with other stores such as Trader Joes or Starbucks. The selection and food is great, always having deals especially using their QFC digital app. Overall, I really enjoy coming to this location, but definitely check out Kirkland's as it's a lot larger as well.

QFC, officially, Quality Food Center, was a local supermarket chain before they were acquired by Kroger. For all intents and purposes, this has become a three star grocery chain. There are numerous commonalities, leveraging the Kroger in house brands, that turned QFC into generic forms similar to Fred Meyer. The "Quality" that it once stood out for has been normalized. However, I am choosing to write a review for one reason. I love their "WooHoo" items. Though the WooHoo items are throughout the store, produce, diary, and bakery departments are gems for last minute buys at very reasonable, if not simply low costs. If you can be flexible with your meal planning, you'll find great deals. FYI this parking lot is very busy, especially on the half with Trader Joe's. Always park on the other side.

    Self checkout hardly works

Worst QFC for miles around. Always one slow cashier. Huge line for self checkout. Zero help across the board. Older looking veggies. Dilapidated meat counter. Fire that manager. Go to Trader Joe's next door...

All three words of QFC's title ring true to me. There is food here, it is of a high quality, and it is located in a convenient location that is close to my home. Wow, that's like everything to love about a store. There is another QFC in Redmond only about half a mile north from this one, and I still don't know why they built two of them so close together, but how can you complain about having too much good food? I've been coming to this store for years. I remember how back in around 2003, I would ride my bike here to use the free internet on their public computers in the cafe. I don't know what happened to that; I still wonder when and why they took those computers away. That's the only time I can think of where a grocery store let people use computers for free. I also remember using the pay phone at this QFC to make way too many collect calls to my parents when I was younger. Now, I like to visit their bakery to buy tarts. These tarts can be quite big and usually require a one-day notice before you can pick them up; they normally don't have them ready and thus need some time to make the treats with specific requests. If you ask for strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, and raspberries, they'll make an exquisite work of art for you that is a joy for the taste buds as well. It's so beautifully crafted that you'd think it came from a smaller private bakery or something. This QFC has always satisfied my expectations with its clean and professional atmosphere.

I'm a fan of the recent group on baggers. They do a good job and are goofing around. Whoever is doing the hiring is doing a good job.

It's spotlessly clean, easy to navigate, and every aisle has something enticing. The staff is super friendly without being overbearing. There appears to be proper staffing, nobody seems stressed out or too busy to casually assist you. The checkout line is always packed, but the crew clears people through at lightning speed. Nobody is crawling around the floor covered in listeria. The fact that you're hear about safety recalls at Trader Joe's proves the company takes them seriously; otherwise, they would go unannounced. I've previously worked in the industry so I can assure you that many other places handle recalls quietly, you don't even know they're happening. It takes a lot to impress a pessimist like me, but this location has managed a perfect streak. Every visit, absolutely zero issues; they've genuinely earned my respect.

TRADER JOE's @ REDMOND…read more Parking can get pretty busy especially it being on a weekend. This Trader Joe's also shares a complex with other stores such as QFC. Walking in, the place is pretty small, compared to other Trader Joe's in Washington. The quality of the fresh items aren't the greatest, we were looking for strawberries that were organic, and they still had leaves in it and some looked like mold was formulating. Other food items however in the frozen aisles were good, they always have new items and I really enjoy how spacious the aisles are from one to another. The service itself wasn't the best. Every Trader Joe's i've been to people are ALWAYS asking about your day, how you are, or even the bare of smiling and being nice. The guy who checked us out had a straight face the entire time, literally no expression. I just felt like the staff here isn't as friendly as Bellevue or Kirkland's location. Overall, I wouldn't come back to this Trader Joe's ad my first choice, it was smaller than the other location, less quality on the products, and staff weren't friendly as other locations.

Now Kroger is trying to eat Safeway, and QFC jumping the gun by preemptively taking a nose dive. For years, people called this store "the new QFC" because it was newer and nicer and shinier (and, imo, better-smelling) than the one a couple blocks over. We didn't know how good we had it then! This particular location used to be clean, well-organized, well-stocked, and appropriately staffed. Variety and quality of foods (especially produce) seems to have taken a downturn. Now, pick 2 of those at any given time and you'll be lucky. Less pharmacy hours, never anyone at the customer service desk, a giant bay of tiny u scans with one harried employee trying to deal with everyone's coupons, misweighed items, and produce with no stickers. Locked cases popping up all over the store, but only one or two employees in the entire store who can open them. Worse yet, a lot of the stuff in the cases doesn't have pricetags, so you just have to guess - not great for what are ostensibly some of the most expensive items in the building. Don't bother asking that employee who unlocked the case for you; they probably already have a gaggle of other customers following them around like the pied Piper, waiting for them to unlock some other case on the opposite side of the store. To be exceptionally clear in case some corporate scrooge reads this: none of this is the employees' fault, they are doing the best they can, and this is all clearly the consequence of corporate cost-cutting measures. I'd give it 3.5 stars because it's not the *worst* QFC on the eastside (I'd put it solidly above the 50th percentile, which says a lot about the state of the brand), and it's definitely still better than "the old QFC", but it's a marked downturn from what it used to be in years past (even post Kroger merge)

SAFEWAY @ REDMOND…read more Parking is available in a large plaza shared with other stores and restaurants, and there's plenty of free parking. I was easily able to find a spot right in front of Safeway, and there is also handicap parking available. I had never been to this Safeway location in Redmond before since I usually go to the Kirkland or Bellevue locations. This one was huge. Walking in, there was a giant sign saying they were hiring, and the store itself felt very spacious with so many aisles and a wide variety of items to choose from. I definitely think this Safeway has a much larger selection compared to other locations. They even had organic green onions, which I want to point out because every single time I go to the Kirkland location, they never have them. I really loved how much more this store had to offer. They also have both self-checkout and regular checkout lanes, which is always convenient. My only downside, and the reason I'd knock off a star was that there were a lot of workers restocking items right in the middle of the aisles. It was around 1 PM, and there were boxes everywhere, especially in the frozen aisle, making it difficult for people to get through. Restocking like that feels more like a nighttime or after-hours task, so it was a bit frustrating navigating around everything. Overall though, I would definitely recommend stopping by this Safeway. It's spacious, well-stocked, and I really loved the variety and the small deals they had going on, especially in the fruit section.

SAFEWAY @ KIRKLAND…read more This used to be one of my favorite Safeway locations in Washington! It's spacious, has great produce, and items. It has however changed over the time, the staff don't seem friendly, I've walked in a couple times and just been fully glared at by staff in the front. Bathrooms are dirty and it's pretty sticky floors. There is also workers smoking on the side of Safeway outside right by the Handicap, no issue with smoking, but they are ALWAYS lingering around where customers are walking to the car. There is also homeless people always out front where you enter 124th street. Other than that, the selection is great, there is a Starbucks in the store as well, and the produce is fresh.
