I'm so thankful my boyfriend and I stumbled upon Quán Hapa after the FCC game. We were cold and wanted some hot food to warm us up and we really got what we came for! We meant to split the Thai Chili Buffalo Korean Fried Wings. My boyfriend had a majority of them as they were too hot for me, but the one wing I did have was delicious. I ended up getting the Bo Luc Lac (garlic noodles with Vietnamese shaking beef) and it was incredible! I'll be dreaming about that dish. My boyfriend got a build-your-own ramen and it was really good when I tried a spoonful. They also have a variety of beers and cocktails. I got curious about their extensive espresso martini menu and was told to try the Chai Espresso Martini. It was amazing! I came in on a snowy day and had my choice of seats with 2 friends. It is a small seating area inside to be prepared to wait at a more popular dining time. I had the garlic noodles. As the name implies they were VERY garlic heavy and forward. Maybe too much for me. I wanted a little more creamyness to them. The Fried chicken on top of my noodles was perfect. I'm on the fence between 3 or 4 stars here. The ingredients are fresh and the cooking technique is very good; the cucumber kimchi slaw was a highlight. The issue I have is that the amount of seasoning and oil was so overpowering that I had some trouble eating some dishes. The okonomiyaki are even saltier than one would expect, and the tofu katsu (with noodles) is perfectly crispy but the outside coating is overly sweet. We came here late last night and I was really thankful they were open. They have been around for a long time, I remember hearing it was THE place back in 2016 when I was visiting Cincinnati. The pancake itself was good though. My friend said it's a very Americanized version of okonomiyaki and I agree, but that's great! It had a lot of sauce and mayo on it. I asked if I could have it with noodles (Hiroshima style) but they said they couldn't do that :(. I'll just make it at home lol + Edamame (salt & pepper) - Well cooked and good or whatever but it was salty. - Garlic noodles with tofu katsu - This was good and definitely tasted like garlic noodles, but it was ultimately so salty I could not eat much of it. The tofu katsu was really salty as well. If I had a lemon maybe it would've helped but I didn't get to ask for one. This made me really sad because I was looking forward to eating it after seeing it on the menu. + DIY Ramen - I didn't have any of this but my friend got it and said it was great. I would be happy to come back, but I will prepare better next time and ask for acid to help with the saltiness. A trendy spot in OTR without a ton of seating. Snagged a reservation for 4 on short notice on a Saturday night. We were sat quickly and the service was good. I realllllly wanted to love the food here, but it just didn't do anything for me. We started with some loaded waffle fries, kimchi, and edamame. These were all just fine, nothing particularly amazing but nothing bad either. Amongst the four of us, we had the Garlic Noodles with Shrimp, the Sichuan Spicy noodles, and a bowl of ramen. The garlic noodles themselves were definitely the best dish. Unfortunately, the shrimp were all cold despite it being a hot dish. The Sichuan spicy noodles had a ton of ma sensation without really any other flavor. I probably won't be back unless something really peaks my interest. read more

I have mixed feelings on my experience. I dined here recently with my book club. We came on a very cold night and the restaurant was freezing cold inside. We all had to wear our coats and we were still cold. They have their outside area tented off, but as a result it made the whole restaurant very cold. I definitely will not return in the winter time. Our waiter was fine, he brought us what we needed. I had the Hapa ramen. The night of I thought it was okay but nothing exceptional. We also tried the wings with the Coconut Lemongrass sauce. The sauce was good, but the wings were just okay. He tried the salmon garlic noodles and I went for the wagyu. He liked his noodles and said his salmon was okay, but my steak was cooked medium well done well when I ordered it medium rare, so I did not enjoy it. I also tried the Lime Basil Me cocktail and he got an Espresso Martini and we thought those were just okay. The service was fast and friendly, though! A friend recommended that we go here. After looking at the menu I was skeptical whether I'd like it or not. Boy, was I wrong to be! I wanted to try everything so we shared the fries, the Japanese pancake, and a noodle dish with chicken. To start, I don't like ketchup or sriracha but their sauce is really good. I was a bit of a skeptic, as I'm the sort of person who roams around surburban strip malls looking for niche restaurants, and I try to take recommendations from people who know the cuisine. This looked more like Asian food for white people, and I felt that both before and after they arrived. The persimmon soda I ordered wasn't big, but it had just the right amount of sweetness for its intrinsically tart taste. They had clear marking for vegetarian and vegan options (and a lot of them were the former). I have been wanting to try their sushi for a while, so I stopped in recently when I was downtown dropping off a wedding cake! I grabbed: Taste of the Islands sushi - came with 3 sushi hand rolls (shrimp curry, salmon & roasted rice powder, spam) House okonomiyaki The sushi hand rolls are the equivalent of maybe 3 pieces of sushi per roll. I thought the curry had lots of great flavor but my favorite was the spam! You can get hand rolls individually for just $5 so I thought it was a great idea for if you just want a quick snack. Several weeks later, I stopped by for cincy wings week and was able to meet him in person. He remembered me and found time during his busy 6pm dinner rush to say a few welcoming words. He offered to make us his favorite dish not on the menu called "Ga Kho Gung (viet ginger chicken)". The chicken was flavored and seasoned with every bite. The flavors didn't jump out and they weren't supposed to, but there was nostalgia in each bite and it brought me back home to what my mother cooked for me growing up. We also tried the "KFC wings" and the "house pancake" needless to say they were cooked to perfection. The wings were crunchy but juicy on the inside, perfectly covered in sweet-spicy-tangy. gochujang sauce. The pancakes were crispy, flavorful, and beautifully decorated. Prepared with a steamy center, very crispy edges and a perfectly sauced and drizzled top. Paired with the spicy papaya salad, which is not quite as spicy as you'll be warned about, makes for a really satisfying and surprisingly healthy meal. While you're at it, try some wings or a chicken skewer, both also quite tasty. The lack of Filipino restaurants made this place a bit more attractive, especially with their Asian fusion dishes. Their okonomiyaki caught my attention -- especially because people were raving about it here on Yelp. Yeah not sure what the hype was all about. The shrimp okonomiyaki was mediocre. It had a nice crunch to it and the batter was fine, but it definitely was still lacking flavor. The Benito flakes was a nice touch, but was very minimal. Their ramen was a disappointment. The broth was lacking a rich tonkotsu taste and texture. It honestly really just tasted like miso soup. The charsu/pork belly slices were tough to chew on -- not so tender. It was pretty much similar to instant ramen, especially considering the type of ramen noodles they used. It was all clumped up. The only satisfying thing we ordered were their Korean fried chicken. It was nicely battered, tender and crispy -- just like what Korean fried chicken should be. Service was great. Server was very attentive and refilled our water timely. The meat was tender but still pretty flavorless. Everything about it was pretty flavorless and it did not fill me up at all. My friend's Spicy Ramen dish was not very spicy at all. He had to request a lot of black pepper flakes to really add to it. Overall we just weren't impressed with the food. Blank flavor and bland seasoning...and not very filling.
