We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and got seated right away. when you enter, it's deceivingly small but don't fret there is an entire other building with seating! The staff were so friendly, they share duties so everyone helps check on tables. We ordered the crab Rangoon and the seafood pancake appetizers, both were pretty tasty. The small plates were delicious as snacks as we waited for our meal. I also enjoyed adding the pickled radish to my meal. For main courses we got the beef bi bim bap and a spicy seafood soup. In what was once a former mini casino run by the syndicate this restaurant is authentic Korean. The menu is not overly complicated. The choices are simple and the accompanying items like kim chi, cucumber salad, slaw, pickled daikon, are good accompaniments. We chose the bul gogi hot pot. Plenty for two. I think this restaurant is warm and inviting, it is small and cozy? I like that they have a dining area for sitting on the floor with pillows and seating in chairs. There's not a lot of seating but a decent amount on both sides of the restaurant. There's street parking available and sometimes limited. I love the soups and stir fry, especially on cold days. I recommend trying something in every category because their food is high quality. I felt that everything was made well, seasoned well, and delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with any choice. The banchan (side dishes) are also delicious and pairs well with everything. I recommend trying everything at least once or twice. Staff is very nice and very kind here. They're very accommodating and they really take care of their customers. We had a great experience and everything was delicious and well made. I have been going to Riverside for well on 10 years now and they have never disappointed me even one time. The service is always great and the ambiance is amazing. This restaurant literally changed the way I eat. I am now obsessed with Korean food and in my humble opinion Korea has the best cuisine in the entire world. You pretty much can't go wrong no matter what you order but my own personal favorites are the Dolot Sot Bi Bim Bab and Ya Chae Pa Jun. I honestly cannot stress enough how great this restaurant is and how badly you need to try it if you're reading this review. I tried the kimchi stew for lunch today for the first time and was not disappointed. It's mild enough that most people will like it yet has enough zing for people who like spicy stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed this place! Tried to go last year but the wait was too long. We went on a weekday evening and we were seated right away. Service was very friendly! We shared one of the hot pots together and for the money we paid we got a lot of food. We could not take it all home but they did offer to let us. It just tasted very fresh and we really had a good time. Ambiance is really cute! They have a place where you can sit on the floor and your table is at floor level. Very authentic. Had a lovely dinner at Riverside Korean Restaurant once recent Friday evening. Every main course comes with six side dishes called Ban Chan. Ours included black beans with sesame seeds, potatoes, daikon radish, tofu, broccoli and kimchi, all of which were a nice intro to our appetizers, both of which were delicious: sweet and spicy wings and beef and veggie stuffed fried dumplings. We shared two main courses -- a chicken dish from the grill and a pork dish topped with a fried egg from the noodle section of the menu. Both were really good but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the pork and noodle dish. We had a bit leftover to take home, always a bonus. The courteous staff rotated looking after us and were very timely about clearing plates, bringing the next dish, etc. We sat in the bright and airy portion of the restaurant, which has lots of green plants growing from a ceiling stand and best tiger face wallpaper I have ever seen. Drinks including beer, wine and cocktails are available to accompany your meal. It pays to make reservations -- Riverside filled up quick during our visit! read more

I decided to try Riverside Korean before moving out of town, given all the local buzz around this place. Unfortunately, my experience left me wondering what all the hype was about. I ordered the bulgogi, which caught my eye on the menu - though I had to chuckle at the "$4 extra for lettuce and garlic" upcharge listed alongside it. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for this 20% addon when I put in my order. When my dish arrived, the bulgogi itself was underwhelming. The portion was also relatively small but that wasn't even the real problem here. The flavors were missing a few notes, including garlic of course, and honestly it didn't taste like authentic Korean food at all. For a restaurant that's supposedly popular in the area, I expected much better execution of such a fundamental Korean dish. My food tasted like a generic, foreign interpretation that missed the mark entirely. Maybe they should just cook and serve real Korean food that contains garlic and whatever other necessary ingredients are required in Korean cuisine rather than gouge their customers with $4 add-ons to an already-overpriced dish. I regret going to Riverside Korean on the eve of my departure from the area and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know in the area to avoid this place. What a joke. read more

It's great to see Korean restaurants in and out of Cincinnati, whether it be across the river in Newport or all the way in Mason. I'm glad they're here! My go to is their shareable hot pot option. The kimchi stew, or buddaejiggae -- also know as military soup is heart warming and hits the spot, specially on a cold day. Unfortunately they don't serve hotpot during summer, which I guess makes sense. Their seafood pancake (haemul ppajeon) is also very tasty. Don't worry it's not your typical American pancake. Nothing sweet -- just savory. You pair it up with some soy sauce and vinegar based sauce and you're golden. There are booths on the left side of the restaurant, but traditional soban tables on the right side -- you must remove your shoes and sit on pillows for the experience. The Bengal tango "cocktail" (came in a tall water glass) we ordered had soju and almond syrup with a citrus taste. The seafood pancake tasted crispy and fresh, and came with a soy scallion dipping sauce. We also loved the Gal Bi Tang which is a soup with clear sweet potato noodles, egg, vegetables, and Korean style short rib. The meat is okay but the broth and all the ingredients together make for a warm comforting meal. The inside is very nice with a front half that has a more traditional floor seating style and wood based decor and a back side with modern white aesthetic, tables and chairs, and a bar. We ordered the seafood which is my favorite (and only) thing I had here before. Its always nice and fluffy and a good portion (bigger than the entree). Entree for me was a Seafood and Pork spicy bulgogi. The sauce flavor was great but I felt like it lacked almost any pork. My GF felt the same with her pork kimchi soup bowl. Add to that the small rice bowls that cost 2$ for additional rice and I feel the portions are small for $18 an entree. Other than that servers were nice and everything else went well. Very nicely flavoured and tender chicken. Rice cooked perfectly. I do wish I would've ordered a bowl for a bigger mix of foods and more complicated flavours, but what I got was good and filling! The environment is clean and very nice! There's a more traditional side of the restaurant and more trendy side, where the bar is. The outdoor seating is beautiful. The service was great and they were very accommodating. They did an excellent job serving groups and the whole experience was about 40 minutes- super impressive. The main dishes came with multiple side dishes that were interesting and delicious. We got Bim Bab and it came out sizzling hot. Remained hot the entire time due to it being in a hot pot so that was great. You could graze on the appetizers and sides and come back to the main course with it still being a great temp.
