It was one of the most beautiful venues we toured, though there were some limitations regarding event spaces and accessibility. There were two primary areas capable of accommodating our guest count of 150: the Lawn Garden and the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory. I preferred the ceremony setup at the Conservatory, while the Lawn Garden offered a more appealing space for cocktail hour. However, the Lawn Garden is entirely outdoors, so couples should have a weather contingency plan. The amphitheater adjacent to the Conservatory felt relatively plain and undersized compared to the lush surroundings. Both venues were conveniently located near parking lots and restrooms, though the restrooms themselves resembled standard public facilities. The garden grounds were expansive and quite hilly. The Lawn Garden parking area required navigating a significant incline that could be difficult for some guests. While a shuttle service exists, we were informed it is volunteer operated and unavailable for private events. Venue rentals included ceremony chairs and cocktail hour belly bar tables. Most other services and rentals must be booked through approved vendors. During our tour, we explored many of the garden's attractions and found it to be highly family friendly, though less accommodating for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns. Children would love the children's garden, streams, and treehouse areas. Meanwhile, sections such as the Rainforest Garden and New Zealand Garden featured steep pathways that may be challenging to navigate. My favorite areas were the Walled Garden and the dancing topiaries, where flowers were sculpted into whimsical musicians and dancers. We also attended the Orchid Showcase inside the Conservatory, which featured an impressive collection of orchids. The volunteers were exceptionally knowledgeable and eager to share information beyond what was available on the website, adding a great deal to the experience. The gift shop was an underrated highlight. I picked up a pressed flower magnet where each one featured a unique arrangement. Ultimately, the venue felt a bit too small for our wedding, but it remained one of our top contenders. For couples who value greenery and natural beauty, this would be an incredible choice for a smaller guest count. Just be aware that much of the planning, design, and personalization will fall on the couple.

I took my Mom who I learned my gawking skills from and we had an excellent time walking and gawking at all of the amazingly designed lighting exhibits. It is very dark in the area say take time to slow down and watch for the entrance and parking signs and people. There were quite a few parking attendants around to point people toward spots and away from full lots. We went the day after Thanksgiving and it was full but it didn't take us long to find a parking spot. There were signs and the attendants also pointed everyone in the direction to the entrance. At the front, security checked bags and scanned tickets and ushered people into the park. Guides at the front suggested a route which included following the arrows lighted along the routes through the garden. It was so gorgeous! People were quite respectful of others trying to get photos of displays and couple and group photos. At one location I became the honorary photographer after helping out a few people. We walked around and posed and all for over three hours. It was a well spent wholesome family evening. You're killing it, SD Botanic Garden!

This is located off of Piraeus Street that runs along the Northbound 5fwy. We entered Piraeus from Leucadia Boulevard. The commercial entrance came up first, then the regular customer entrance, thanks to their clear signs. It was mid-afternoon on a Thursday in January, so maybe that's why the nursery lot was kind of empty the further we went in. At the front area though, there were poinsettia trees still in bloom. I didn't even know that they can grow into trees (they don't last very long after the holidays in my care, lol), so I was actually fascinated to see them so big. They also had a fenced area with 2 small goats, possibly pygmy goats...so cute and friendly. Considering the cold weather, they had a good selection of healthy cacti, potted flowers and plants at reasonable prices (i.e., 4" pot of succulent $5.99, 6pk annuals/perennials $4.99). The bigger shrubs like hydrangea and hebe coed were more expensive ($26.99 and $28.99, respectively), but beautifully kept. We had no plans to garden any time soon so didn't plan on buying anything, but ended up getting some plant accessories, including a car-shaped ceramic planter that kiddo really liked, lol. Service was okay. We were the only ones there and took our time browsing, but no one asked if we needed help. The woman at the cash register wasn't rude, but not particularly friendly either.

The Secret Garden is a great option for couples seeking a more affordable wedding venue…read more We ultimately decided against this venue because our guest count felt a bit too large for the space. While it would have comfortably accommodated a smaller wedding, a party of 150 seemed likely to feel cramped. My communication with Kendra through The Knot was efficient and responsive, and Christian did an excellent job touring us through the venue and preparing our final quote. =PROS= *Ceremony site centered around a charming gazebo, complemented by natural elements such as a towering tree, flower pots, and a picturesque hanging swing *Included feature wall perfect for signage, backdrops, or neon displays *Reception space featured high ceilings and an elegant, neutral aesthetic *Packages included tables, linens, and glassware, with upgrade options available for different styles and colors *Large inventory of complimentary decor, including signage, draping, and string lights *DJ and coordination services included *Complimentary engagement photo session and discounted wedding photography *Affordable in house catering with flexibility for outside vendors *BYO bar option available *Free photobooth included *Discount offered for cash or check payments =CONS= *Parking area was somewhat hilly and may be challenging for elderly guests *Bridal and groom suites were small and noticeably dated, with furniture showing significant wear *Bathrooms, particularly the men's, felt informal and somewhat resembled those found in elementary schools *Some of the greenery appeared wilted and lacked the lushness shown in promotional materials This would have been an excellent choice for a wedding closer to 100 guests, but it felt like a squeeze for our anticipated attendance. Ironically, the venue's strongest selling points were not the garden itself, but rather the extensive planning support and complimentary services included in the package. The greenery was pleasant but not especially striking, so couples may want to allocate additional budget toward florals and decor to elevate the space.

From the moment we started planning, Shannon (our wedding planner) was nothing short of exceptional. I had such a terrible experience at another venue and when we made the decision to change venues to Secret Garden, she metaphorically took my hand and turned planning into the BEST and MOST magical experience. She made what is usually (and had been) a stressful process feel effortless, organized, and honestly... SO much fun! She's upbeat, enthusiastic and clearly LOVES what she does, which makes everything feel exciting. She anticipated needs before we even knew we had them, handled every detail with precision, and made us feel completely taken care of the entire time. Not only that, she made us feel special, seen, heard and adored. Her magical energy made the whole process feel like we were planning our wedding with people who cared for us like family! And, every visit to secret garden -before, during our ceremony, and after to pick up decorations - she greeted us like we were family! We felt so welcome and so special. On the day of, Cheryl (our wedding coordinator) brought everything to life seamlessly. She was calm, kind, incredibly on top of everything, and made sure every moment flowed beautifully. She even put bandaids on my bleeding feet and helped sew my ripped dress. I never once felt stressed or pulled in a million directions--she held the entire day with such grace and professionalism, which allowed us to actually be present and soak in every second. And, the whole time it felt like she was going above and beyond to make sure we loved our day. And the vendors... WOW. Every single one exceeded expectations! The DJ Harry O was AMAZING! He even captured photos for us and sent them to us after the wedding. He was such a delight. The efficient made sure paper work was taken care of effortlessly. But, my favorite detail of all were the decorations and the flowers! Vanessa and her family who have been doing flowers for generations are AMAZING! They were beyond stunning--elevated, romantic, and even more beautiful than I could have imagined. The arrangements felt like they were pulled straight out of a dream and completely transformed the space. She went so far above and beyond to make my vision come to life. Truly unforgettable. This is a family owned business and it feels that way from start to finish! What stood out most is how above and beyond everyone went. This wasn't just a "service"--it felt like a team of magical people who genuinely cared about making our wedding perfect. Every detail, every interaction, every moment felt thoughtful and intentional. If you're considering getting married here--do it. This team delivers not just a wedding, but an experience that feels magical, seamless, and deeply personal. We'll be reliving this day forever

Just fields and fields of beautiful flowers. We took the tractor ride which took us all around the fields. They also have different little sectioned cut outs in the fields to take pictures and walk in the flowers. Please do not go over the tape and trample the flowers, there are literally spots designated to walk in the flowers and take photos without hurting them. We also went inside the butterfly room! That was soooo fun :))) We had lots of butterflies land on us and fly around. It's $8 per person but I recommend it! They also have many different snack options, a sweet pea maze, and an inside orchid exhibit. Lots of things to do whether you're a kiddo or an adult! They also had field trips with elementary school kiddos while we were there. So cool that they have programs for kiddos to learn more about plants and agriculture :) Parking- There's plenty of parking. If the lot gets full, the outlet mall is next door and has more parking. Pricing- Pricing has gone up, but is so worth it to keep the fields growing! The tractor ride and butterfly exhibit cost $8 per person, but we enjoyed it :)

We had a booked timeslot in advance, around 1PM, and we walked in there was a good amount of crowds inside. I was really impressed by the organization of this place. The people here on the day we came are pretty respectful of everyone's time. I offered to take people's photos and they reciprocated back. It was pretty great despite the super hot weather. PS DEFINITELY BRING AN UMBRELLA!!! I'm so glad I did. Hats can be good too but I feel like it could be inconvenient if you want to take pics of your face in clear view. Once you walk up to the fields, you can immediately line up to which bench you want to take pics at or do some of your own shots. Plentyyy of space to do so, no need to worry on people showing up in your photos up there in the fields. I think the statues and included photo-ops are a delight for some, but wasn't a must for us to take pics at. Only taking off a star rating because I find the prices for the tickets a bit costly but the flowers are very well-maintained and taken care of. One side of the flower fields were much more bloomed than the other side. I'm pretty glad we took pics at the more bloomed side. Great one of a kind experience!!! Extra activities to do include a tractor ride (looks like it's treated like a train station where you get dropped off in certain areas of the fields) and I saw a butterfly exhibit but you have to pay extra for and line up at. Saw a mariachi band playing here so it's nice they're really keeping up on keeping this spot active!!! They also do private booking events etc if you're interested.

This whole rack of plants came from Cordova, and not a single one can be found at any other nursery for these affordable prices (think 25%-50% of the price you'd find online). I have found several White Princess and Pink Princess Philodendron that have made exquisite gifts for the holidays. The most amazing Philodendron I found was the Jose Bueno, its leaves are easily at least 18" and I snagged it for 1/3 the online price! I have also found Swiss Cheese Monstera, as well as Thai Constellation and Albo varieties. My other amazing find has been their String of Turtles and String of Hearts, which are very rare as compared to the more typical string of pearls. The owner shared with me that he's been in business for over 38 years! He is super knowledgeable and has a vast inventory (hence the competitive pricing). The plants are all super healthy, and I've not had a single pest interloper from their collection. I have never left this nursery without finding what I was looking for. So if you're looking for presents this season (prepare to wow all of your friends and family while not breaking the bank) or want to expand on your rare house plant collection, this is your spot. Go before I buy all their plants.
