The quality of the food was not very good in spite of it being very visually appealing. Both my wife and I commented that in spite of the variety of interesting sounding ingredients in both of our dishes, the food was practically tasteless. Also, they didn't get my wife's order correct. She specifically told the waitress no peppers in her food because they bother her. Instead the waitress apparently told the chef no green peppers so she got a bunch of red ones instead :-) then we will end up having to switch meals so she can eat mine that didn't have peppers in it and for all the aggravation they gave us complimentary coffee which was pretty much slightly tan lukewarm water masquerading as coffee. Would not recommend.

Make sure you visit Quaker Diner on Friday. They bake Pastries Thursday evenings and sell them until they run out. Low key one of the best bakeries in the city. The food is quick and a delicious. Got a bacon egg and cheese on kaiser and homefries for breakfast. The home fries here are amazing. The waitresses are always kind and helpful. It's very much a diner. Quick food, good service, 80s feel inside. Definitely a casual vibe.

I just had the best meal of 2022 at the Quaker Diner. I realize it is early yet in the new year, but high commendation is warranted right now! This stainless train car classic served up a terrific breakfast as I sat at one of their shiny spinners at the counter overlooking their Cecilware coffee maker and the twin swinging kitchen doors. The staff seems to have been their since the millennium, and they know their stuff, complete with old school personalities ("Know what you want , Hun?") Their morning menu is extensive, and I chose between a three egg omelet and a "skillet." The later (Olivia) arrived on a ceramic long handle flat bottom platter, overloaded with eggs, onions pepper, homemade corned beef hash, home fries and melted cheddar, with rye toast accompaniment. First forkful and I was smitten. It was absolutely delicious. The combination of taste and texture overwhelmed me as I tried to capture all the impulses my brain was getting from my tongue. Savory, chunky, soft, crisp, cheesy and a few more sensory reports that escape my store of adjectives. It was great, with the rye toast adding an appropriate exclamation point! The coffee was another welcome blast from the past, as it was brewed in an ancient Cecilware FE 100, which can't be found for purchase anywhere but in those old industrial kitchen supply warehouses. They may be very 20th Century, but nothing since has perked better Java. This institution located between Oxford and Rising Sun Avenues, is well worth the drive to this corner of the Greater Northeast in Philly. Parking around back and alongside the structure. Street parking also available in front on Oxford.

I am happy to report that, although I am a few years behind on this, the major renovation and updating of Quaker Diner is quite amazing. I visited there once before many years ago, and I did not enjoy my experience. The details why I was unhappy are irrelevant - because after going back recently after they completely changed the entire diner inside, outside and on the menu, has made me forget all about that. Complete kudos to those running this great little neighborhood diner. It was clean, everyone was friendly, the service was quick, the coffee was hot, and it had a stacked menu filled with all standard diner food, but with many variations on those standards, which made them stand out. I very much enjoyed my spicy omelette. While I personally am not a regular there, I noticed that just about every other booth around me, the customers were on a first name basis with the staff - which to me suggests that there's enough of a reason to keep returning here. So, if you're in the northeast area and looking for a great local diner with that authentic dine feel, and that on-point diner food, then look no further than Quaker!

    "Isabella Skillet"

Ordered Isabella skillet, asked to add turkey sausage, cost $17 which is a lot. I ordered pickup, drove all the way home realized they didn't put all the vegetables that the menu says only had about half the vegetables in it, (peppers, onions broccoli) (no tomatoes no spinach no mushrooms) If I'm paying $17 I want everything it's supposed to come with. I called asking for them to tell me what's supposed to be in the skillet, and I explained that it was missing a lot of vegetables, they say they would let the kitchen know, assuming they're going to make it again. I drive all the way back, the woman at the register takes the old food in the back and comes out with the new order, no compensation or anything for my time wasted driving back and forth for a messed up order, I'm assuming the trashed the other one, when they should've just let me keep it.

I planned on grabbing something to go after the show. As I was perusing the menu I saw several dishes pass by and decided I couldn't wait any longer. In particular I noted the wings and chicken fingers, both of which looked amazing. I got a table next to the bar in their lovely beer garden. Has some TVs, a very friendly staff, and the food looked great. I was blown away by their chicken fingers. Obviously hand breaded, and served with Comeback sauce and your choice of ranch or blue cheese. I ate a few and saved the biggest one for a late night snack. Ended up eating it a couple days later and it was still delicious! I'll have to try the wings next time. Service was great, from hostess to servers, everyone had smiles. Food came out promptly and my drink was refilled without asking. Definitely a good start to the night. The Dungeon Crawl itself was the highlight of the evening! This is in the lounge/bar area of Silk City. It's an intimate setup with the stage in a corner with a dance floor and the bar area and a few tables at the other end. A DJ warms things up while the main act comes on at 8:00. It was Dogs in a Pile for my first visit and I was blown away by the sound and energy. 2 sets of amazing improv and jamming, with a dedicated crowd of music lovers. I can't wait to get to my next one!

We did have to wait a fair bit for our food order to be taken, and again for all four of our meals to come out. We all got breakfast items. I got the eggs Benedict which were very good. One of my friends got the breakfast sandwich called "Trenton makes - the World Takes" and I love the nod to some NJ history. Good food, nice ambiance. This was my first time here but I would definitely come back again.

The Silver Diner excels at all but the key difference here is quality. Quality ingredients matter here and it shows. I had the Power Breakfast, and my wife enjoyed the California Omelette. Both meals were fresh, flavorful, generously portioned, and beautifully prepared. We would absolutely order them again. Our server, Benjamin, deserves special recognition. He was friendly, attentive, checked on us at just the right times, and never made us feel rushed. His service was outstanding and added to an otherwise wonderful dining experience. The only disappointment was the beverage pricing. I'll admit that we typically don't study the menu prices before ordering--that was probably our mistake. After eating in restaurants for more than 70 years, however, I can honestly say these beverage prices are among the most outrageous I've encountered. We were charged $3.99 for a single cup of black coffee and $5.99 for one glass of lemonade--nearly $10 for two beverages. The coffee was simply one ordinary cup of black coffee, and the lemonade was so incredibly sweet that it was almost undrinkable. Neither beverage came close to justifying its price. It's unfortunate because everything else was excellent. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and Benjamin's exceptional service make Silver Diner a place we would gladly visit again. However, management should seriously reconsider charging nearly $10 for one standard cup of coffee and one mediocre glass of lemonade. Prices like that leave customers feeling taken advantage of and detract from what is otherwise a terrific dining experience. We'll definitely be back--but next time we'll probably skip the beverages unless the pricing becomes more reasonable.
