I made a reservation online on OpenTable. We arrived earlier than our reservation slot so we were able to walk around and take pics. Unfortunately on the night we went it was super cloudy and had been raining so the views weren't nearly as good as they could have been. There's a grand staircase that walks down into an even bigger and more open area. Up first, was a $9 hot chocolate and a $23 Bluecoat (Dirty Martini with blue cheese olives). The martini was perfect, exactly how I like it with tiny slivers of ice shards. Second, I had a $30 Gold Espresso Martini with vodka. It was also perfect. Probably the prettiest espresso martini I've ever been served. The leaf design in your drink is pretty sweet. Tons of dates here, anniversaries, vacationers, and people super dressed up. Most certainly look your best if you decide to come. Next time I'm in Philly, I'll certainly be back!

Our party of 3 got the gazpacho, onion soup, and the peach-burrata starters. All were excellent. Perfect for outdoor dining. For mains, we got the blueberry French toast, the burger, and the steak frites. Perfect combinations of mains - we shared a little of the others. All well done (not the meat). Do yourself a favor and grab a bite here and watch all the people and dogs enjoying the weather around Rittenhouse.

I recently visited this restaurant with a large group, and overall the experience was about as pleasant as I expected. When we first walked inside, the temperature was comfortable and the scenery was noticeably improved compared to previous visits, although the wallpaper remained the same. Our table was already prepared for us, which made for a smooth arrival. The atmosphere was nice, with beautiful photographs of Lauryn Hill displayed around the restaurant while Erykah Badu played in the background, creating a relaxing and welcoming environment. There were a few small issues from the start. Cleaning supplies had been left on our table, and while menus were provided immediately, they felt a little sticky. It was also surprisingly smoky inside the restaurant. At first it was only noticeable, but as time passed, the smoke became strong enough to burn some guests' eyes. Later in the evening, the restaurant also became a bit cold. One thing that stood out positively was the mocktail menu, which looked very creative and intriguing. We were given plasticware, which I appreciated. I ordered a mocktail called the "Girls Girl." The drinks took quite a while to arrive, but considering we were a large group ordering specialty mocktails, the delay was understandable. While waiting, I noticed a spelling mistake on the menu. When my drink finally arrived, I enjoyed it. It had a pleasantly acidic flavor that wasn't overly sweet or sour. The balance was nice. However, the strawberry garnish tasted a little unusual. Another concern was that everyone's glass appeared to be a different size, making it difficult to tell whether we all received the same amount of drink. Unfortunately, the wait for food was extremely long. I waited approximately 90 minutes before receiving my meal. At one point, the waiter explained that the kitchen was waiting for fresh oil before continuing preparation. The wait became so long that I joked I was hungry enough to start eating the decorative flowers. Even after waiting over an hour, the bacon that arrived did not taste particularly fresh. For my entrée, I ordered the seafood and grits. Despite the long wait, the dish itself was enjoyable. The seafood was flavorful, and the meal tasted very good overall. The bathrooms were one of the weaker aspects of the restaurant. The space felt cramped, and the air vents appeared dirty and in need of cleaning. Overall, the experience had both strengths and weaknesses. The atmosphere, music, décor, drinks, and seafood and grits were highlights. However, the excessive smoke, lengthy wait times, concerns about food freshness, and the condition of the bathrooms took away from the experience. Lousy service and not great food. This is a restaurant that is out of control. Our party made a reservation for 1:15. (They close at 2) We waited more than an hour to be seated. They were technically closed well before we sat down. Then waited another hour for our food. Breakfast food, mind you. Some of us got our food separately. Eggs and potatoes arrived without scrapple, etc. Scrapple arrived an hour later. Never got toast even after a couple reminders. One person never got food at all. A man from another party went to the kitchen and wanted to know what was going on since he didn't get his food either. One person claimed she enjoyed her pancakes although she barely ate any of them. They were dry and crumbly. Avocado toast was as soggy as other reviewers. Service is completely ridiculous. Our party was waited on by two young people who clearly don't know what they' were doing. When asked by one in our party (several of whom were experienced servers) they replied "We aren't waiters. We're just runners". Yet they took the order and brought the food. Paying was also difficult. Gave the person our money and waited forever for change. "(So-and-so) has the machine right now. You have to wait." My suspicion is that since this is a black owned business that black patrons want to support it with good reviews. There is just no way so many people could really have a good experience there, while at the same restaurant so many have a consistently awful experience. We can't all be talking about the same place. If you just want to support this business because of who owns it, go right ahead. But you've been warned that you are throwing your money away. For those who think this is some hateful whitey, there were 13 in our party, only one was white. That one is not me. But it WAS the one who didn't get her food. read more
