Unfortunately, the grits were hard, and the turkey sausage tasted flat, resembling a flat soda rather than a well-cooked dish. My friend ordered the Banana Foster French toast, but it was far from traditional. The bananas were served on the side, and when we expressed our disappointment, the server replied that this was their unique preparation method, which did not work at all. Overall, I would rate this experience a 1 out of 10. I have no intention of returning. When I attempted to discuss my concerns with the cook, he acknowledged my feedback but seemed indifferent, saying, "Sorry! I wasn't there. I just came back." The Breakfast Boutique is our go to place when we're in the neighborhood on our weekly visits with our granddaughter. The waiter Joseph is so kind and he always makes our visit special as regulars. He already knows what we want to eat, and our granddaughter has become so fond of him. My husband's favorite is the fish and grits. It makes him hum when he eats it and the chef comes up during most visits and checks in. The staff is very friendly. I've had two experiences with this restaurant and both have not been pleasant. The first time I ordered through their website and went to go pick up my food on the door at the time. There was a sign that said GrubHub and delivery services to wait at the door I am not a delivery service. I am an individual who ordered through their website therefore I did not feel like that sign applied to me so when I walked in and stated I was here for a pick up the owner yelled at me to get back to the front door and to wait I went back to the front door and I waited about 10 minutes and then he finally came over and asked me for my name gave me my food. The food was OK. Their link sausages are not good, but the pancakes were pretty good. I decided to try it again because I thought everybody has a bad day and I ordered it again through their website except for whatever reason it didn't go to the one in Chestnut Hill, which is where I live. It went to one way in South Philly. I was not gonna go to South Philly to pick up pancakes. This order came to $98 and some change it was for three people and when I got inside, she said it was at the other one I said OK well can you let them know that I won't be coming to pick that up because it's too far and she said yes I said so you'll cancel the order she said yes I said will I get the money back? She said something to the effect of yes unless it's the order is already complete something like that so she called the other store and she said OK everything's taken care of. I was under the assumption that I would be getting my money back three months later I still haven't got my money back. I saw three groups of people leave even w that were seated as my colleague and I sat waiting for him to take payment or the food I didn't eat. It was hot crispy and seasoned to perfection. They didn't have any utensils so I had to wait until I got home to eat the rest. The grits could've been cooked longer and were just meh. Same for the eggs. They don't season them for you. I ate the chicken and waffles later in the day. They both heated up well in my toaster oven. Two waffles and three wings. I am a Black Woman, and apparently the saying, "you can take the black people out of the ghetto, but you can't always take the ghetto out of the black people ", is true for the Breakfast Boutique. I planned to take my beautiful 76 year old mother here for a mother, daughter, mother's day brunch. We just happened to be in Chestnut Hill today for a brief errand, and it appeared the Breakfast Boutique was open. I was excited, so I lead my mother to the entrance, and she smiled saying that this was a restaurant featured on her favorite am show, FOX Good Day. As we entered the restaurant, my only intention was to briefly ask if I could make a reservation for Mother's Day. We were abruptly stopped by a dark skinned man, that may have been one of the owners, or staff. He gestured with his hands, in a way to advise they were not open. I and my mother overlooked his obvious rudeness. I proceeded to ask if a reservation could be made for Mother's Day. He gave us both a smirk, and answered in a cynical tone, saying they don't take reservations, the restaurant opens at 8:00 am. I tried asking if I could come and add my name to a wait list. Again, he used that dismissive tone and body language, almost leading us back out the door, as if we were annoying him. My mother continued to use grace with him, despite his rudeness, and told him that she watched a story on FOX Good Day, and asked if he was aware if the co-anchor Mike was as nice in person. He responded dryly, and said sarcastically, "I don't know". When we exited the restaurant, my mother stated that she NEVER wants to go there for any meal. I have been to this location, a few years ago, with a companion, and our entire meal was comped, because of the incredibly poor service. I thought I would give the Breakfast Boutique a do-over, and patronize their establishment again. I see now, they only shine for the cameras, not for potential new guest. read more

Only thing is , I am surprised about how flavorless the fried chicken wings are & I wasn't a fan of the home fries (that's the only reason it didn't give 5 stars) but the fried shrimp was delicious, waffles, pancakes, and French toast were good. The strawberries they have are super fresh. I usually don't eat stuff that is placed to make a plate look nice and it was a great decision; it was sweet and fresh. UPDATE: we gave this restaurant 5 stars shortly after it opened four years ago. Sadly, have to revise it to 1 (should be zero). We were seated fairly quickly which surprised us, but it then took some time to get service. Hard to understand as there were two waitresses and one waiter and only about 5 tables. Our waiter, who was nice enough, apologized and brought out drinks but then that was it for another half an hour. About 15 minutes in, I asked another waitress if I could have more coffee. She said yes, looking put upon, but then never brought it. We asked two more times about our breakfast and were told it was coming up. Also, unsanitary conditions: air blower in the bathroom didn't work and there were no paper towels. In the wake of a pandemic, this is not acceptable. After an HOUR - and after the table across from us who ordered at least 15 minutes after us got their food - we decided to leave, something we've literally NEVER done in our lives! (Went to Cake, a reliable favorite - will review them next). I told the waitress that I had given Breakfast Boutique a glowing review years before and that I never experienced anything like this before. VERY disappointing experience. read more
