I have been to Christian Brothers a few times, they are the only ones I let pre-inspect potential…read morecars that I want to buy. I had them do both of the used cars I bought and they lasted me forever with regular maintenance. In my experience everyone that works in this facility is honest, fair, they want to help people and they want them to be safe. This is the first and ONLY mechanic shop that I have been to as a woman where I wasn't treated like I was a dunce or less than. The employees here explain things in a way of informing you not persuading you or intimidating you with fear that if you don't complete the job something extraordinarily bad is going to happen. They give you realistic expectations on how much more you can drive until you need to really get it done which helps people that are on a budget. I think the prices are higher on average but the amount of service, attention, and thoroughness you get the price is very fair! I recommend this place to everyone I know especially women because I know how important it is to feel safe with mechanics and not like they are trying to get over on you! I've had my share of bad experiences but never with Christian Brothers! They truly exemplify the name!

final update 1. My check engine light came on when I took…read morethe car home after the repair. Took it back. Tech explained it was due to the aftermarket part being used which is why he recommended the $9995.00 converter that I declined since I didn't want a $13,000 repair bill. My husband asked if the 02 sensors could be the issue. The tech said no. They had replaced one and the rest checked out ok. I took my car to another shop the following week. Turns out there was a bad 02 sensor. I have an invoice to show that I replaced it. 2. My battery was checked off as being good and they offered to clean the terminals for a nice fee. I had that done previously by them but I declined this time. My car would not start the following week and left me stranded at work. Turns out when it was removed , the battery was swollen on one end and leaking acid which might explain why the terminals were so corroded. I have the invoice where I replaced the battery. 3. Three weeks after the repair we heard a rattle in the rear when we pressed on the brake. We thought it might be the rear stabilizer link they replaced this last visit. We are not experts so wanted to be sure. . My husband took it in this am to be checked. They tightened it up then test drove it after. I hope that was the issue. We will see. 4. I noticed that they recommended that I have a brake fluid exchange this last visit due to brake fluid being burnt and dirty. I approved that but then realized it was just done 9months/10,000 miles ago. So my husband questioned the owner about that. The owner's immediate response.- " Why did your wife approve it ?" So to answer that question. You send these recommendations via text while I'm at work. I trusted your shop to run an ethical business and not send something out for approval that you just supposedly did. Volvo says 2 years /40,000 miles interval for that. However, that's my fault for not catching a duplication of service that was supposedly done Great deflection on blaming the customer for trusting you. I guess I'm supposed to carry around every invoice while I'm working. 5. My husband mentioned this am that I went to them thinking it would cheaper ." That seemed to insult the owner. To Clarify , I just didn't expect more than the dealer. 6. Lastly. Be sure that your customer has drove out of the parking lot before you start talking about the customer in a negative manner where it can be heard and seen in your waiting room. My husband walked back in to hear and witness the facial expression of the technician he spoke to talking abut him. To the owner. You can go back and look at the invoices to see how much I've spent without complaint and the duplication of the brake service. Our car is still out of alignment pulling to the right. Look how many alignments I've paid for. I even had it aligned at a local shop since it really was pulling bad after one of yours. You have my contact information if you truly want to make things right. I know you said to send an email to explain everything. Maybe I will but will just be a duplication of this information. At this point, I regret ever stepping foot into your business. Very disappointing. Original review. / My plan was to drive my 2011 Volvo XC70 until it came time for a very costly repair and then trade since I've had it for 10 years. I took it in since the car started loosing speed when accelerating and was sluggish going up hills. The first issue found was the exhaust manifold actuators so I agreed to have that repaired along with other items. That total was $2800. After that, I was told the catalytic converter was "now clogged." The repair with the Volvo brand part estimated to be $ 9995 ( warranted ) The car is not worth $5000. I opted for the aftermarket option ( no warranty ). Price was $1800 for a total of $4800 for everything. We got a quote from the Volvo service dept and it was $6435 plus tax which would be around $3500 less The price difference over the dealer for a repair just seems questionable. The Hot Rod Shop - Modern Car Manager- Chris Hernandez

    The Hot Rod Shop

On March 15, 2025, I dropped my 1946 Chevy truck off at Allen Automotive (also known as The Hot Rod…read moreShop). I was told the repairs would take a few weeks. The requested work included addressing a hard-start issue, a carburetor running rich, a fuel tank ventilation issue, and checking the passenger-side door. Instead, my truck remained at the shop for over three months and later had to be returned for additional repairs after I received it back in June 2025. Communication throughout this process was extremely poor, and I was informed there were staffing issues and too much work. Unauthorized work was also performed and charged to me. I was told the truck needed to be rewired due to electrical drain issues. During this process, several new problems occurred that were not present when I dropped the truck off, including malfunctioning door poppers, blown amplifier, non-working brake lights and cab light, fuel gauge, and tachometer. Interior components were removed and reinstalled improperly, resulting in the driver's-side door no longer closing correctly--an issue that did not exist before. While there, the truck also sustained clearcoat damage and paint chips on the driver's-side door. Multiple distributors and sending units were installed because I was told parts did not work, though it is unclear whether this was due to faulty parts or improper installation by Allen Automotive. After initially receiving the truck back, the newly installed gas tank leaked severely and had to be returned again, at which point I was told the wrong hose had been used. I was later informed the carburetor was bad, despite it being only a few years old with minimal mileage. After contacting the owner, Candace Bongiovanni, the truck was towed back to the shop due to safety concerns, including fuel pouring from the new gas tank, no brake lights, and stalling. When the truck was returned to me again, it continued to cut off. Additional issues remained, including door poppers not working correctly, the driver's-side door requiring force to shut, a non-working truck bed light, grease and paint dust in the interior, and loose interior parts left inside the truck. I later had the truck towed to another classic car repair shop for inspection of Allen Automotive's work and to get the truck running. At that time, the truck was completely dead and had to be winched onto the wrecker--an issue I never experienced before Allen Automotive worked on it. The second shop determined the carburetor and timing were severely out of adjustment after being adjusted by Allen Automotive and confirmed the carburetor was in good condition and did not need replacement, contrary to Allen Automotive's recommendation. They also stated the truck now requires a complete rewire, despite my having paid Allen Automotive to rewire it. Although the second shop was able to get the truck running as I requested, I am still left with unresolved issues that were not present prior to taking my vehicle to Allen Automotive, including the driver's-side door shutting hard, door poppers not working properly, cab brake light not working, and paint damage. Due to the amount of money I paid Allen Automotive (and in other fees like having my amp tested by an expert, towing, additional work elsewhere, etc...), I am having to have the repairs to damage caused by Allen Automotive done in increments. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of work, lack of communication, unauthorized repairs, and damage to my vehicle while it was in your care.

Today is December 22nd 2025. I took my 1995 Chevy C1500 to Allen Automotive "The Hot Rod Shop" 14…read moremonths ago to be lowered, fenders rolled, undercoat, engine bay painted, a 700 hp 6.0 LS stage 2 4L60E, and everything factory option to be hooked up to work as it should. Jerry Taylor was the guy in charge at that time but it was after the management change that they brought me in and Erik basically told me to take the truck like it is or they'll start racking up storage fees and eventually just keep the truck. I've had it for an hour and so far we have a front main seal leaking, cruise control don't work, the fenders were not rolled which ended up rubbing groves around all four brand new tires, it cuts off when i stop, it idles up/down and surges while driving or parked, the shifter cable came loose from the transmission otw home, the heat doesn't work, turn signals don't work, and it doesn't shift like it should. They knowingly put the engine in my truck with cross threaded bolts and bolts broken off in the engine. I overheard Billy say that when he was behind me in line at Oreillys. All of this was brought to their attention before I left with the truck and they refused to fix it. They knocked $2k off of the over $32k bill to put towards someone that might know how to fix it to fix it. They gave me no info on the engine except they verbally told me the cam that they think might be in it. This is only after having it for an hour. I will be making a video of us taking the engine apart and comparing the internals to the list of parts that they told me in an older email that was put in the engine and I'll be posting it on several hot rod pages, YouTube, and my own personal fb page. I'm one of MANY that have had these issues. I recommend staying away from this shop. I'm going to have to go through everything that they've done in order to know what I've got and $2k isn't gonna come close to fixing everything. I hope that this review can help save a lot of others from spending their hard earned money in a place that does not care about their customers or take pride in their work. This is the worst business I've ever dealt with in my 40 years of life. I don't wish bad on anyone but this shop needs to be shut down.
