When I first began using their services, I was assured that diagnostic fees would be waived if repairs were authorized and completed. However, in recent visits, I noticed that diagnostic fees were being charged in addition to approved repairs. On top of that, I have experienced verbal quotes that were not honored. For my most recent--and final--repair, I was billed for an additional 0.5 hours beyond the verbal quote I was given over the phone. This additional charge was never authorized and was simply added to my bill. During a recent visit, I asked for a written estimate for maintenance work and was instead given a verbal number. When I insisted on a written estimate, they outright refused. While the quality of their repair work itself has generally been good, their lack of transparency, refusal to provide written estimates, and disregard for honoring their own quotes demonstrate a business practice I find unacceptable. Dan's Auto Clinic may try to present itself as an honest small-town business, but in my experience, their actions show that chasing extra charges matters more to them than maintaining integrity or building long-term customer relationships.

Each and every time time they have been throughout, friendly, and trustworthy. On my last oil change they ran a complementary overall vehicle check and ended up finding a problem, that if left unchecked, would have been very expensive down the road. And without me even having to ask, they brought me back and showed/explained the problem, along with answering all my questions. Communication during all services/repairs has always been easy and timely. VIP's customer service is top notch as well. When my car had to stay there for a few days, I was offered (at no cost) a ride from and back to the shop to pick up my car. (I lived very close at the time and realize that may be a factor going forward.) During the last repair, they were also able to give me a loaner car, which took away so much of the stress that comes along with having a car in the shop. Finally, if you're lucky, the owner's sweet pup will be there when you come in. :) I have recommend them to so many people in my day to day life, and I recommend them to anyone reading here as well! Can't say enough good things about these guys; 5 stars only because we can't give more than 5…read more Here's my take on the auto repair business; there's 3 key things, two of which are very hard for the layperson to access. 1-Diagnosing the problem. 2-Fixing the problem. 3-Being honest about what needs done. 1-Jeff has many years experience and is excellent at diagnosing the problem. Obviously some things are easier than others; e.g., the brakes grind, you need brake pads; other noises or symptoms can be much harder to figure out. He's a master at figuring it out and won't give up till he has. 2-Fixing it. This is what every professional shop can do. 3-Honesty. This is the most important one - yet the hardest one for the layperson to assess. e.g., Did your brake job really need rotors too or would just pads have been enough. Did you really need that new radiator or was it just a hose that was leaking? Did you really need all the tie rods and ball joints and suspension links replaced or would've ball joints been enough? ...etc, etc. Sooner or later there will be times where a less-than-honest shop can oversell a repair for extra labor and parts dollars. And the layperson will never know. This is where the trust comes in. I am absolutely convinced Jeff is as honest and straight a shooter as there is in the car business. He'll tell you what your car needs and not oversell repairs you don't need.

They give honest, upfront estimates of what needs to be repaired before they do any work your vehicle, which is at a far better price than most dealerships or other auto repair businesses offer. Bruce, and his team have extensive experience with all makes of Honda and Toyota vehicles. As an ASE Master Certified Technician specializing in Honda products, he strongly recommends using authentic auto parts from these two trusted brands, and not generic, third-party manufacturers. Likewise, I've had my Civic tuned up and it runs like a champ, at less than half the price quoted by three other auto shops in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area. No matter what the make or model of vehicle you own, be it domestic or foreign, Bruce and his team of dedicated mechanics will repair it no matter what the problem is. The only kind of service he doesn't provide are front-end alignments. However, this may change in the future.

I got 5 quarts of VALVOLINE Full Synthetic engine oil and a new oil filter. They also replaced the drain plug gasket, checked fluid levels, lubricated suspension where possible, checked the air pressure in my tires and performed a multipoint inspection. Labor was ~$28, parts was ~$52. I had a $15 coupon so my total was ~$71 after tax. They also replaced my air filter and windshield wipers with the components that I provided GRATIS. Unisex restroom was clean and tidy. Customer waiting area has free water, coffee and soda pop. I SHALL RETURN next time I need my engine oil changed.

No more having to get up and be there at the crack of dawn to explain the issue. Just wrote what I thought was the issue on the envelope and put my keys in the envelope and dropped them in. That's the way I like it. The next morning they called after they found the issue and gave me they're price. I was happy to hear they're price because the 2 other shops I checked with wanted to charge more $$$ for the shifter cable fix. I've got my usual mechanic and I kinda felt like I had cheated on him but it was just this once and he was backed up a week with other work anyways. The Livonia garage is clean inside and even in the bay areas where they work. Everyone was friendly and the coffee was really good. Lots of parking as well. Try The Livonia Garage.
