Quality First Auto Service is a business that earns the trust of its customers from the very first phone call. I happened to be lucky enough to blow a gasket in my paid-for truck two weeks before my wedding (do you sense the sarcasm?), and the cost to take apart and rebuild the engine was more than I had been prepared to hear. But the guys at QFAS were amazingly accommodating, professional and TRUSTWORTHY. They went above and beyond what I could have asked for, and did an awesome job with the repair. I haven't had one problem with my truck since. I now take mine and my wife's vehicle there every time one of us need repairs, or even an oil change. They're a knowledgable group who can tell you what you need to know about your vehicle, how to prioritize your repairs and what needs to be done in the future to ensure you're getting the most out of your investment. I had a great experience with this place a week ago. I was visiting my girlfriend in Richardson over the Memorial Day weekend and needed to return home Monday so I could be at work on Tuesday. Unfortunately, my engine started making a funny noise as I started to leave and I was worried about breaking down on the highway in the middle of nowhere, at night, in a major thunderstorm. I stayed an extra night in Richardson, which I partly spent by researching mechanics in the area. Quality First Auto Service was close by and had good ratings, so I sent them an e-mail in hopes that they'd be able to look at my car on Tuesday. I received an e-mail reply early the next morning from the business, but unfortunately they would not be able to look at my car until Thursday. So I decided I would leave my car with them for the week and rent a car to get back home, then return on the weekend. The business is tucked away amidst rows and rows of similar businesses, and I actually drove past them and had to turn around. There wasn't much parking and the place didn't look like much. However, once I started talking with Daniel, I felt immediately reassured. He was a good listener, knew his business well, took the time to explain things about the way my car model's engine was built, and then drove me to the car rental place. He proved his customer service savvy again on Thursday when he called me to talk about what he had found, things he could fix/replace, and things that could go another 6 months or a year. The car was ready the next day, I paid over the phone, and my girlfriend picked up the keys so that we could get the car on Saturday when I drove back up. Anyway, I really had a great experience with them and I would definitely take my car back to them....you know...if my car ever needs servicing when I'm in Richardson. read more

I recently had several things worked on on my car. I was impressed. I called and talked to several mechanics over the phone first. I ended up on a very long call with Daniel. He was so patient with me and all of my questions. He never got irritated at all. Other places I called basically rushed through my questions and gave me very vague answers. Over the phone, in person, and after my work was completed I never felt taken advantage of like so many mechanics try to do with women. My husband even ended up taking his truck there to get something fixed. He was impressed by how quick the turnaround was. I took my car into the dealership for an oil change about a month ago and they told me my brakes were so worn that if I didn't get the pads replaced pronto, I would be looking at a repair cost much higher than the several hundred dollars they quoted to get everything changed, drained, replaced, and generally fixed up. So, I went home and started researching places that would do a quality job for less than the dealership. That's when I remembered this family business. My boyfriend took his car here a year ago when he ran into some mechanical trouble, and they got him on the road again. So, I stopped by and asked if they could quote a price for the work. They took a solid look at my brakes and told me that the current ones still have some life left, and could wait until the next oil change at least. This was great news (my budget couldn't support this cost so I was going to have to put it on a weary and beleaguered credit card) but the best part of this was that this honesty instantly made me a loyal customer. I will go back to them for future oil changes, brake jobs and since my car is starting to age, everything else that's going to be needed. These folks are likable and kind, and their competence already proven. I will update this review after my car's next check-up. Update: I love these guys! Yesterday I was having a pretty terrible day, which included a dead battery. Since the battery was only two years old, I had a lot of reason to worry that the problem was the alternator. I managed to get it to Daniel and company, who thoroughly checked it out and assured me everything was fine and got the car and I back on the road lickety split. My first visit (8 AM), Daniel was on the phone with another customer. He gave them 100% of his attention, yet he acknowledged me as I walked in the door with a wave and a huge smile. He finished up shortly without making the other customer feel rushed. I was already smitten. First impression - Amazing customer service and wonderful attitude. Daniel and Tim (son and father) listened to my problem and repeated what they heard. They talked to me in detail but without condescension. I am in no way mechanical but they explained in simple terms I could understand. They acknowledged my frustrations with previous mechanics without taking it as a personal insult to all mechanics. They are here to help and change the way people think about mechanics. They did fix the problem, a problem another mechanic I had dealt with for years was unable to fix. The price was fair, very fair. The service was quick. I was used to waiting for weeks for my truck, not here, a few days later it was running like a champ. It's old, a '94, but they treated it as if it were special. They advised on what needed to be fixed next but without any kind of push or sales pitch. Just a simple FYI. A week later when I knew 100% my truck was really fixed I took it back for another issue my old mechanic was unable to fix. Water was gathering up somewhere and flooding my passenger floorboard.They fixed that silly issue without making me feel silly for asking for such a little thing. I'm super picky and feel customer service has gone by the wayside in this world as you can tell by all my negative reviews. They made me believe someone in the world cares. My truck is my ride, I depend on it and I love my truck. I've had it since day one 22 years ago. So they have made a huge impact, a great one, on my life by relieving a ton of stress. Here's someone you can really truly trust to fix it right the first time, without hassle, open communication, friendly, happy, over the top customer service from everyone who works there. I appreciate these guys more than words can say!! I kinda wanted to keep them a secret because once the word gets out I'll have to wait longer to get in. LOL ( they already have a ton of business!) This is the ONLY auto shop my family will bring their vehicles to! We have been coming here for at least 5 years after it was highly recommended by a friend. We always took our suburban to a Chevrolet dealership in Plano thinking they were honest but unfortunately that wasn't the case. We were quoted $2300 at the Chevrolet dealership for a job that wasn't even the issue and came out paying less than $500 with a fixed car from Quality First Auto! They truly know their stuff and even for an oil change they check everything out, and I mean everything and if they catch what could be a future problem they let you know without the pressure of making you feel like it must be done now unless it's something urgent but even then you don't feel like they are just trying to up-sale a service to you!
