But finding a honest reliable mechanic is special, I went here to get my clutch done on my Infiniti and man they did a quick and awesome job!, Julio in the front is also very honest and assuring. i brought another one of my cars there because i thought it was having transmission issues, But julio had a mechanic check it out and turns out it was just a bad battery causing the sensors to act up, i knew right there that they were trustworthy because any mechanic could have just told me it was a transmission issue and then charged me thousands. This was three years ago. My car needed a new clutch. My car needs a dual mass fly wheel and they used a bargin barrel single. Just under three years later and i had to get the clutch and flywheel replaced again. They also broke my temp sensor so the car was showing every emergency light in the book. They tried to say that it was my other mechanics fault, but guess what the car worked great until i picked it up. They ended up replacing it but said they didnt have to and it was only out of the goodness of there hearts. Not joking thats what they said. This shop is not professional, not ethical, and not to be trusted. read more

Have always trusted this place for our transmission needs. We feel like they are honest and a reputable family.

This shop is one of the most honest shop I've been to. I had some repair work done to my front and rear differentials and I had fear that my transmission may need an overhaul. The driveline was rough when driving it inbeither 2wd or AWD/4WD. There're were some NVH transmitting through the pedal and I could hear some minor grinding of the gears. Bad news for sure. I went in and Alan and Mario took care of me and my truck. They did a transmission service and some other pixie dust magic trick, told me they don't recommend do anything else because they don't believe extra money should be spent. I tried to argue that I'm more comfortable if they went much further but Alan resisted and confirmed that drive it for a while and if it gets worse then they wil go for surgical options on the truck. I picked the truck up, and the NVH was pretty much gone. I honestly don't feel the NVH anymore so whatever voodoo truck doll they used to work their magic works! I know shops that would jump on the chance to say something like "yeah there's damage to the bearings" or something so you'll need a rebuild of the differentials or even the transmission and charge a buttload. But they didn't. That... I really appreciate about them plus the fact my truck feels great now. read more

My 6 year old Tahoe transmission was slipping. I needed a reliable company that wouldn't rake me over the coals like Chevy would. Decided to take it to Jim at Transmission Shop. Dropped it off on the weekend, they are closed, and they took a look at it first thing Monday. Jim was very knowledgeable and right on time. Quoted me what it would cost to rebuild the transmission. Gave me an estimate on when the job would be completed and sure enough right on time on that date. I will say he was very professional and the job seems to good. Car is running great again. I can't say if the price was cheaper that most, but I can say I would rather pay for quality vs. cheap and risk breaking down in the future. read more

Has been by far the worst auto repair service I have ever been provided. Consumer beware! I brought my truck in after a referral at another auto repair shop. They said that they were not able to figure out the issue but recommended the transmission shop in Plano. I took it over where I was talked into paying 4220 to replace my transmission (couple hundred dollars higher then what google says is average price) and was guaranteed that it would fix the issues my truck was having. Not only was my vehicle not ready by the day it was promised, which forced me to come out of pocket for a rental so I could make it to work, but I am still having the same exact issues I have been having with my vehicle. Not a good feeling paying over 4K and your issue is still not resolved. Strongly recommend looking at other options before doing business here. read more

My goal here is not to leave an emotional review. I'll do my best to stick to the facts of my experience and ultimately share that it was negative. I was referred here from another shop because I had a leaky seal in my wheel bearing which requires specialty equipment to address. I dropped it off the night before and called first thing in the morning to check in. We spoke later that morning and they said it would require a lot of labor, but should be done that evening. I didn't hear from them all day and called around 5:30 to make sure it would be done. They said they were finishing it up, but that it wouldn't be done until the next morning. Understandable. Again, I didn't hear from them the next day until I called around 2:30. They said (again) they were finishing it up. Then the owner called back a few minutes later informing me I needed another part. Again, understandable. They informed me it would be done that day. When my wife picked it up, she told me she asked for an explanation of the invoice and Aaron was impatient and made her feel like her questions were an annoyance. This is strike one. I got in my truck to drive home and I almost plowed through the first turn and almost lost control of my truck. Turned out they (1) didn't bleed the brake lines properly and (2) didn't fully clean the grease off the brake pads, making them spongey and minimally responsive. This is strike 2. I ended up bringing it somewhere else to be fixed. I figured I should at least let the owner know what happened so he could address it with his team. He was, again rude on the phone and denied they had done anything wrong. I won't be coming back. read more

5 days before Christmas I took my 2004 Infiniti G35 in to have them look at it. My car was acting like it didn't want to go into 3rd gear. They checked it out and, unfortunately, they said i needed a new transmission. I was freaking out as i still needed to get my sons and be able to do some shopping. I couldn't afford a new or rebuilt transmission. Allan Aday, the manager there is the MAN!!! He and his guys came through for me. He found a low mileage (82k) used transmission and said they could have it done by the end of the day, for $1400. They did their part and my car was ready. (Unfortunately i had some late errands to run, so i ended up picking it up the next morning!) They did what they said, I really trust Allan and his guys, and would HIGHLY recommend them! read more

Had them replace the clutch on my neon a little over a month ago and thought I would leave a review for them. First of all, they were the only shop locally that was willing to install the clutch that I had already bought. Every other shop refused to install it because I didn't buy it through them and pay their marked up price for the clutch. I called The Transmission Shop and he was more than happy to install it for me. The price was very reasonable for a fwd car, $450 which is half of what every other shop quoted me. Dropped it off at 8am and the car was ready to go by 5pm, that's some fast work. I had them do the rear main seal as well,and they were very honest and up front about any extra charges. I highly recommend this shop if you need any transmission work, couldn't be more pleased with their work. I've got 3k miles on the clutch so far and everything is working perfect. read more

I had a free diagnostic done at another shop who wanted to replace the motor/transaxle mounts on my car for $600. After reading their reviews, I thought I should get a second opinion. I called The Transmission Shop and explained the problem. They said it sounded like the mounts as well, but they would also have a technician check it (also for free) and see. It turns out, the mounts were fine, and they said it probably wouldn't fix the vibration noise I was experiencing. At the end of the day, I was able to fix it myself in 30 minutes with a $15 dollar part. The best work I NEVER had, but when I need trans. work, I will call them first! I was referred to The Transmission Shop in Plano from my regular repair shop because they indicated The Transmission Shop could replace my transmission cheaper than they could. During my initial call with them they gave me an estimate that ended up being very accurate to my final cost and was much cheaper than my regular repair shop. That first transmission I had them do is still in operation three years later in my Ford Escape. I just recently had my second transmission for another car installed by them about 3 months ago. Had an issue a couple weeks ago but they covered the repair under warranty with no issues. They were again very good on the price and have been very easy to work with. read more

Absolutely disgusted at this place, had transmission rebuilt not once...but twice since it wasn't done right the first time and after the second time there have been many issues due to shoddy work. After 2nd rebuild they didn't reconnect the starter properly, causing my car to not run, didn't reconnect cruise control, and now my mechanic has found that the torque converter bolts were only hand tight! These people told me several years go, on the phone, that they would rebuild the transmission on my 2002 hunydai for $2200. I said that was too much fo spend on an old car. I was told by the person on the phone, who I learned recently was the nephew of the owner that I didn't have to worry. I would have a life time guarantee. I said ok. Recently the tranny went out and I took the car back to get it fixed. They would not fix it. He did not check the box that said life time guarantee. I went the BBB. The offered to fix it...for $1300. I brought my car (2008 Lincoln MKX) in with a severe jerking from the transmission. I paid The Transmission Shop over 2800.00 to have it rebuilt. Worked fine for a week and the harsh shifting returned. I brought it back in and they replaced a leaky seal. Another week and again harsh shifting and I brought it in again. They worked on it again and returned it to me. I drove it for a week and my trouble lights came on. I took it to a shop who said there were transmission codes causing the check engine light. I returned it again and when I picked it up it shifted smoothly for about a week and the harsh shifting returned (although not as bad as before, it still had jerky shifting issues). I took the vehicle back in to be told it was shifting fine for them. I picked it up and had harsh shifting after two blocks. All lin all I took my vehicle to them five times. each time it was in the shop for a week. I understand they need to road test a vehicle; however two times I took it in with a full tank of fuel only to be returned empty. They warranty their work, but after five returns and not having my vehicle repaired I simply could not return to them. I had two choices. Sell the car at a loss as no one wants one with a jerking transmission or take it to another shop and pay again ti have it fixed. Unfortunately, I had to sell it and am out a lot of money. read more
