OMG!!! I can finally write a review for this company. I had to take my Nissan Pathfinder to Rodney for help. Two different shop told me that I needed an new transmission. I simply said "ok." I wasn't going to let neither shop near my truck because they had not even looked at it. I called Rodney and asked him if he won't mind looking at my truck for me because I was told I needed a new transmission in my truck. He told to bring it in before 11am on that day. I had my truck towed to the shop. Rodney called me the next day and I didn't even want to answer the phone. I just knew it wasn't going to be good. When I called back, he told me it wasn't my transmission. HALLELUJAH!! He told me what the issue was, but I can't remember due to it being back in July, and It only cost me $156.00. Rodney saved me. The dealer said a new transmission and repairs would be more than $10,000! I didn't have that kind of money so I called around and another transmission place recommended Rodney to me. I was able to get a used transmission with warranty for less than half the price! Rodney ran into problems, more because of the type of car I have (the first place I called said they don't even replace trannys for newer Subaru's because the cost is so high!) but he was able to get everything straightened out and the car runs GREAT! I have an older truck. The transmission was rebuilt by another shop a couple years back. The shift shaft seal leaked fluid ever since. I took it back three times and they couldn't fix it. I gave up. I later took it to Quality Transmission and explained my problem. He ordered a seal, but it wasn't the right one. They ended up improvising a seal due to a factory seal was no longer available. No more leaking fluid. They did not charge me because it was not a factory seal. I offered to pay for the labor and he refused. He was just glad he was able to help me. What a guy! I am extremely happy and satisfied with the services I was provided! My clutch went out on my car and I couldn't drive it. I took it to AAMCO & they wanted to charge 1620, then went down to 1420. It was frustrating because I'm not sure what was done but my car wouldn't start anymore after I picked it up from AAMCO. My husband found this business & let me tell you, it was the BEST thing we found! They were patient with me & trying to get my car towed there. When I finally got it towed, it literally took like one day. They did a free inspection on my car. Before repairing my car I was given options, either $1120 if I wanted lifetime warranty or $975 without the warranties . My car was fixed so quick! I picked it up the next morning! It only took like maybe a full day. They ended up giving me the warranty anyway! I loved that they didn't pressure me on whichever option I choose! Rodney, the owner, is the man. I was driving from SF to LA with a slipping clutch (I thought I could make it) but my car broke down right near Bakersfield. Next morning I found this mechanic on yelp, called him, explained the situation and he said he'll do the best he can to put me on the road ASAP. The parts hadn't arrived the same day but next morning he drove to my hotel with my car to give it to me and yes - I was on the road. The price was unbelievable; he gave me the papers with parts number and warranty and said he'll always assist me if anything happens in the future. And he refused to accept a tip. I would like to point out few things. Firstly, He is a professional - he does only transmission and does it for many years. Second - he is extremely trustworthy and transparent. He called for the the parts right in front of me and explained every single detail was to be done. And lastly - he is very caring. He prioritized my car knowing that I'm not from Bakersfield. My pickup truck transmission was slipping and a local shop recommended replacing it. After receiving a couple quotes exceeding $4500, I considered selling the vehicle to cut my losses. Do not come here , the deal was to take out my aod stuff out and I would install my transmission my self. I brought a brand new flywheel / clutch and pressure plate . He basically stole my brand new parts and installed some old junk . The flywheel had surface spots which he said was "normal" for new flywheels and the clutch was already slightly used , I checked the box it came in and they are totally different companies. Rodney he owner is a scam artist with a bad attitude might be racist as he didn't treat my "other" friend with disrespect or nonshalant attitude who was with me . Stay away!!!! read more

We have a 2005 Yukon XL Denali that had 3rd gear go out. We still had 1st, 2nd & Reverse. So side streets only. The guys at quality transmission and clutch are wonderful. Can't thank them enough for helping us out in a bad situation. We were camping about 2 hours outside Bakersfield and my clutch completely went out. We called around to a bunch of nearby towns to figure out where we could tow it to. A bunch of people couldn't help us or didn't have time for weeks. Got ahold of these guys and they instantly realized how bad of a situation we were in and jumped on it. We arrived around 14:00 and he had our car done by 12:00 the next day. Also drove us to and from our hotel. My car is running better than ever and the price was very reasonable. NEVER COME HERE! Replaced my transmission and then my vehicle started leaking oil, which he called water. He said my water pump needed to be replaced. So we paid for the replacement. Got my suv back with a loud noise that started as soon it was turned on. He refused to fix the problem saying he only fixes transmissions. When asked why he changed the water pump he said he didn't want to talk anymore. I paid over 2k to get my SUV returned in a horrible condition. read more

Well, I am old man in my 50's and don't do reviews, but this gentleman at Quality Transmission and Clutch saved my ass. My father drove my Suburban there, but broke down before reaching the gate; he's 80 by the way. Rodney took care of getting dad and my vehicle to his shop and even stayed late for me to get there to pick up my pops. My truck was done in one day and is running smoother than ever and at a much more appropriate cost than other shops here in Bakersfield and added a 2 year warranty. Don't get me wrong they do ALRIGHT work here , but randy is not the friendliest person .. I understand people go through stuff and people aren't the happiest sometimes but some shit you have to leave at home in order to keep customers around , in my opinion I think he has a problem with black people . I can't say anything bad about this place! The clutch went out on my 2007 Ford Focus and I was recommended by another transmission shop that I was recommended to by my bosses but didn't do clutch work. From the beginning when I called just for a quote, Rodney was more than willing to help. He immediately made phone calls to quote parts so he could give me an accurate price. He was very honest, explained everything that was going on with my car and how it worked/what exactly was wrong/what exactly needed to be fixed and my car was done when he said it would be done. He never talked down to me or tried to squeeze extra money out of me - which, unfortunately, can be a problem when you're a female with car problems. My car runs great, I paid a very reasonable price, and I was very happy with the service I received here. Hopefully I don't HAVE to come back soon... but if I ever have any other transmission/clutch problems, Rodney would definitely be my first call. read more

My 1994 F-150 was giving me problems as I was driving for over 4 hours from NorCal and the clutch would not work. I gave them a call and I forgot his name but it started with an R helped me and was very very helpful. He talked me through the steps on what the problem could be. Located the problem explained to me how to fix it and what to do to keep driving. He did all of this over the phone and gave me a call an hour later to check up on me. To my utter dismay, they didn't put the bolt back on my steering column which is very dangerous, when I called to express my concern I was completely blown off by the owner and was assured he would give me a call back and never did. Also they left a tool in my engine which got stuck in my fan. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE AND IT'S A MIRACLE I MADE IT BACK HOME WITH THE WAY THEY RETURNED MY CAR TO ME!!! In 2016 I had a problem with my 1993 Toyota manual 5 speed Pickup. It would not go into 3rd or 4th gear. I took it to a service shop for repair. They had it for a few days and said they could not repair it. It set in my driveway for 1 1/2 years, being used sparingly. In 2018, registration required a smog test. I decided to get the transmission checked again and looked online for a transmission shop that was open on Saturday. One of the ones I found was Quality Transmission. I called the shop and Rodney said he could look at it. After playing with the gear shift, he said he would order a part and call me when it came in. A couple of days later he called and told me to bring it to the shop. To wait for the repair, He took me to the Valley Plaza to occupy myself. On Tuesday 11/21 my sons clutch went out, we needed the clutch replaced asap because he needs his car to get to work and to college in Taft. We made several calls to garages and not only was the price going to be $1000-up but no one was even going to be able to get to it until the following week. We called Rodney at Quality Transmission & Clutch and he said get the car to him and he should have it done the same week. About 6 years ago I needed my tranny to be rebuilt in my 99 F-150 so I called every tranny shop in town and QTAC was by far the cheapest, not knowing any other shop in town or any reputations I went ahead and went with the cheapest. Rodney was a VERY friendly guy and got my truck out on time. This rebuild is still running strong to this date. Two years ago I needed a rebuild on my 03 Honda Civic and he did that rebuild and got it done even earlier than he said he would. He also replaced my CV half shafts at no cost (I purchased half shafts from autozone and took them to him) he said since they would already be out of the car. Here we are today and I am now getting my transmission re-built for my 65 Chevy Nova and can't wait for it to be done and in my car so I can enjoy my Chevy II. If you need transmission work this is the place to go in Bakersfield. Fair and honest. Rodney's guys rebuilt the transmission in our daughter's mustang Dec 2015. This month the check engine light came on due to a selenoid or transmission problem. He was able to take it in within 2 days of calling and fixed it under warranty with no cost to us. The clutch was almost non-existent in our 2000 Nissan Xterra. I gave this shop a call first thing in the morning and spoke with Rodney, the owner. He said he'd make sure the parts were available if we needed a full clutch replacement. They were. I dropped the truck off, they checked it and full replacement was needed. It was done by closing time. They saved the used parts and explained what was wrong and why things needed to be replaced. We also got a lifetime warranty on this particular clutch kit. Rodney was kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to go back with any of my cars. I definitely recommend this shop. Easy to find. We had towed our van and only to find out that with a call from customers, he can be available to help even on Sundays. He not only helped us assessing the transmission condition, he drove us to a rental place where we could rent the car and come back.
