Excellent place to grab a coffee, breakfast, bagel, sandwich, ice cream, etc. I found the staff to be very conscientious, courteous, prompt, responsive & considerate. I ordered a everything bagel toasted with lox, cc, Bermuda, tomato & capers. The owner had to help the women in the back get it started but it was executed well, delivered fresh to my table. (I don't think the women line cooks are that experienced so I think addressing that might help overall with this place). It was not toasted per my request & the bagel had not been cooked that day but it was still good. The C02 cartridges at the soda machine were low & so my fountain soda was flat. Comfortable Cafe Love the location! Service was amazing. Food was good too. Came for breakfast and am worried that I don't know how to restaurant right. I walked in the back door, went to the front and ordered from the to go counter, took my food out back and sat at a table to eat. I think I should have let them serve me like a restaurant, and they didn't correct me or say anything. The owner Mo, came out and bussed the table after asking if there was anything he could do to make me more comfortable, and getting me the WiFi code so I could keep working. Bottom line is that this is a nice sit down place (if you let them seat you) and has an amazing view of quarry lake. Bagels were good with Russian black-bread bagels with sesame seeds. They also have a lunch buffet and felafel and a full menu. The small entryway hides the size of the place that goes to both sides of the building. After breakfast got to walk up the quarry walkway. Our first experience with Quarry Bagel was great; the last three have been not so good. It first time there, I got a poppy bagel with pain cream cheese, and it was great. Tons of poppy seeds, just the right amount of cream cheese. Great bagel. Since then, I've gotten the bagels that haven't measured up to the first. The bagel in the picture doesn't look like a poppy bagel, it looks like a plain bagel that had incidental contact with a poppy bagel. Additionally, when I came in to pick up my order, I was ignored by the of the people that work there, and had to speak up and ask if the bag on the counter for pick up was mine. I have spent over ten years working in the retail and retail food industry, and one thing you never do is ignore your customers. I've been here a few times since they've opened. I'm not sure what it is - perhaps my bad luck - but every time the front staff seems to be scrambling, needing multiple people to figure out how to ring up an order on the register or trying to figure out who's order to take next. The first couple times I just chalked it up to them working out the kinks, but it's been months now and they're still not running so smoothly. Thankfully the people working the line are on top of things and efficiently putting out orders. My last visit here was to place a carry out order. While it took a good 15 mins to place my order at the register (there was only one other person in front of me who was currently ordering), the cooks in the back had it made, packed and handed over to me in less than three minutes. I do think the food is decent - the roast turkey is juicy and their tuna salad rocks. Their bagels are acceptable as well, but it does irk me when I come in for lunch and they're all out of just about every type bagel save two or three. We're talking noon, not 2:30PM when they're getting ready to close. I also find is strange that there are still no prices anywhere to be found on their menus. They're listed online, but that doesn't help me when I'm physically there placing an order. Overall, this place has some work to do, but it is a nice addition to the retail offerings at Quarry Lake. I only venture in here when I visit the laser place a few doors up, am starving for a meal and have some pocket money to blow. Perhaps it's the area, but Quarry Bagel is as overpriced as everyone says it is in this review. There's no reason why I should have to pay $8 for 3 small falafel balls inside a pita with some raggedy chips and a sad looking pickle. This place really takes advantage of the comfort of convenience. Usually there's a younger staff person available and while the service isn't always pleasant, it's never unpleasant. The wait times are completely ridiculous however. I've never waited under 10 minutes and all I get is the falafel pita, which I can never understand given the only people in the restaurant would be already eating and there's never less than two people behind the counter preparing food. I will give them a shout out for having gluten free bagels although I've never tried them. They also have a section for locally made products such as cream cheeses and spreads but, again, just a tad too steep in my opinion. On my last visit my order was wrong and all I asked them to do was nix the pickles. I didn't have the additional ten minutes to wait for the order so I requested my money back and walked out, making that my last time giving my money to this overpriced place. read more

Turkey sandwich is a winner! Really, I barely understand the complaints people have against this place. However, I would, if I were a person reading them, generally ignore them. This place is now under new management. Under the old owner, things ran pretty smoothly, but under the new owner, things run even better. The staff is helpful, attentive, and there's always enough employees to help everybody as soon as possible. Insanely good sandwiches worth paying more than Subway or other shops. The breakfast is incredible and bagels with lox are to die for. Today they accidentally charged us for an extra sandwich and minutes later realized the mistake and corrected it before we could notice. They brought the mistake to our attention and immediately fixed it with kindness and earnest. The food is always perfectly hot and toasted when it comes out, and I recommend their paninis because of this. As I've said in other reviews from places in the Quarry, I'm in love with this location-- how convenient and what a great kept secret! It was jam-packed during lunchtime which seemed surprising since I feel as though the Quarry itself was relatively empty! Despite the crowd, the food came out quite quickly and was fantastic. There are a few outdoor tables that overlook the quarry, which I think would be great view and a great location for a moderately-priced breakfast or lunch. I ordered carry-out lunch from this cafe yesterday with some friends-- what a great surprise! We hadn't planned on the location having such a vast menu and it took us a little while to decide which entrees would be best; ultimately, I decided on the tuna melt panini, while friends ordered two different vegetarian sandwiches which they were more than pleased with. They have plenty of options for just about anyone for any meal; we couldn't help but try the sweet potato fries (delicious, but no restaurant can compete with Miss Shirley's). We didn't try the bagels, but I have big plans for returning since our lunch orders were so satisfying. read more

Great bagels! Very soft and fresh. I ordered the breakfast special with a bagel, 2 eggs, potatoes and coffee. I couldn't believe what a great deal all for $5.82!! The potatoes weren't bad after adding a little salt and pepper as well as the eggs. Coffee was pretty good and there was a variety of blends and flavors of coffee to choose from. Tried the newer Quarry Bagels location in Owings Mills yesterday (same menu as the one on Quarry Lake so must be the same ownership) and my experience was poor from the moment I dialed their number and walked inside. The person who took my order wasn't too pleasant - not rude, but not friendly either. When I arrived to pick up my food, there were about 4 people behind the counter, all of which were huddled on the corner/side looking down at their phones. One young lady finally came over to ask what I needed, with an attitude as if I was intruding on her day, and she turned behind her to get two bags containing my food. She hands the bags to me, and tells me the amount that I owe. I could not get the credit card out of my wallet with one hand, and attempted to find a place to set down my bags but there was no place to do it... the countertops were cluttered with biscotti and old school cash registers and so much other stuff that there was no where to even put the food, so I had to sit it on the floor. The girl behind the counter rolls her eyes a bit while waiting for me, and then takes my card, swipes it, hands it back to me and walks away. And that was it. That was my first encounter, and likely my last. Not one person was friendly or hospitable, and our food was awful. I ordered a fried egg avocado toast. The key word is toast. I received a fried egg on a piece of bread with a big smear of avocado. The home fries were hard, flavorless and over cooked. Nothing was appealing - not the food, not the service, not the pricing. I can't see how these folks will last at that rate; there are plenty of food choices in the area to give them another chance. read more

If I could I would give zero if I could. Never order from here on yelp or grub hub! Placed an order at 11:15 today. By 12:45 it had not come so I called Grubhub. They contact the restaurant and say there was a communication error and my food will be here by 130. At 1pm I receive a text saying my order is canceled due to no drivers. Almost 2 hours after my order and now no lunch!! Completely unacceptable. If they are unable to deliver the food then it should not be an option to even to order it!! read more

Too dense and no flavor and hard crust coating it. I got the special for beef shawarma but the meat was just okay, the tahini was watery, and wrap thin and tasteless. Cashier was impatient even though there was no line or rush. It's a clean location and the case showed a variety of cookies and pastries. Too pricey for what they can offer. read more

So here's my two cents. I live down the street from this place. The bagels are great, the food is ok...it's not gourmet. You have to get there early to get the good bagels. But no matter when you get there, the customer service SUCKS, my orders have never been correct and the cleanliness & professionalism of the place is seriously lacking. I can say this since I've been going here off and on for over a year. My order has yet to be made correctly (and I have yet to not be blamed as the customer for not giving the order the way I want it - seriously!?). The same angry looking/sounding, unprofessional owner/manager walks around cleaning, handling money and cooking with the same clear gloves on (witnessed this for 20 min today!). The staff are all disheveled, more into socializing than working and wear whatever street clothes they want. And the kitchen is just gross...you'd think that having an open kitchen where your customers can see you, you'd present your cafe a little nicer!? No, it's kinda gross and it is a pet peeve that they cook with earphones in. No wonder my order is never made right. For the half-a-dozen bagels once or twice a month I can stomach coming to this place...but for a meal, for service or for someplace to bring a friend, I'd rather pay double at the starbucks down the street. read more

But this place really takes it to a whole new level. And the wait... forget about it! The last time I was there I waited about 15 minutes for a bagel with cream cheese and a side of bacon. More recently I got their "fish platter"- a bagel, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a bit of lox and whitefish salad. In the parking lot is a 4-way stop with stop signs. When I was driving up to the place, a guy in front of me ran the stop sign and almost hit an older gentleman who had stopped and was ready to move through the intersection. Both guys were headed to this bagel shop. Both got out of their cars, the old guy said a few things to the bad driver, the old guy went into the place while the bad driver stayed outside. I headed inside, then the old guy left with his bagel. Then the bad driver comes in, goes behind the counter into the kitchen and starts making fun of the old guy he almost hit with his car! 1. He was in the wrong, knew he was, and didn't do anything about it. ("Hey, come on in, I'm sorry, have a bagel on the house...") 2. He clearly stayed outside as long as the old man was inside, because he didn't want the old man to know he was a worker/owner at the place. 3. In front of other customers (me), he made fun of one of his customers. That about sums up this place for me. I've been twice, the bagels were OK nothing special. But the folks running this place and behind the counter aren't really interested in keeping customers. read more

I had the gyro. which was very good. I think I paid just over $5 for it, which was a nice surprise because the menu said $9. It came with chips and a pickle. I don't think I have ever had a gyro with a pickle, but the pickle was crisp and surprisingly satisfying. The coffee is fine, it's good for a quick bagel sandwich or breakfast order. The sticking point for me are the prices. This place is absolutely amazing! They have a variety of bagels to choose from that are soft and delicious I usually get the blueberry bagel to pair with my coffee. I came once for the buffet and I am glad I did. If you're looking for great tasting Mediterranean food then you MUST try their buffet. From their rice to the flavorful meat along with the dips and salads everything just left my mouth watering. The price is great for the amazing food they have and the place is very modern and clean.
