The service is always spot on, the beer always cold, the food always fresh. They have something on the menu for the pickiest of people. I prefer the Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips and the Reuben ( which is the best in town). As for beer--Try the Mac Lomas Extra Stout or the Mor Buck IPA. I love Quarter Celtic! They have a fantastic selection of beers and the BEST bar food in town. As far as the food, the Celtic fare is fantastic. The fish and chips are some of the best in town, but be warned. It's a large plate and you may want to go with the half order. I have enjoyed all the appetizers. Their pretzel is really light and fluffy and pairs well with the beer cheese. And their wing! Oh my gosh, these are just delicious. The sauce is amazing, full of flavor and stickiness! They make some great beers. The Pedro O'Flanagan is the house staple and is really good. Their seasonal choices are usually on point as well. You don't hear a lot of complaints here. Not the nicest crew these days, this used to be a great place. I really hope service amps it up again. I mean they were so friendly to us. Oh well, the one constant is that things change. The food is good. Shepard's pie was tasty with crust and bacon added. There was a young dark haired woman serving us at the bar. It just didn't feel like we were quite welcome. And there was no memory of our years of patronage. It makes me a little sad. Atmosphere was basically the same. I don't think we'll be back for a while. The Carlisle location is friendlier. I've been to Quarter Celtic on numerous occasions with different friends and we have always had delicious food! We've tried a lot of different things on their menu and everything came out hot and was mouth-watering! Their fish and chips is fantastic. The Rueben is packed with so much meat it's not easy to get your mouth to open up that big! They have great craft beers with hilarious names. They include flights of both beer and wine. Ordered take-out Sunday night and was not disappointed when we ate it at home! Here's what we ordered: Fish & Chips Corned Beef & Cabbage w/ sausage Fried Pickles Firstly, the food traveled well! You'd think fried foods would get soggy if not eaten as soon as it comes out of the kitchen. That wasn't the case at all with the fried pickles and fish & chips. Everything was still warm and crispy just the way we would've expected it to be had we been able to dine-in. Portions were VERY generous. We had leftovers of everything. I swear there were at least 15 huge fried pickles in the to-go box!! All the dishes had great flavor and cooked just right. I was impressed with the mashed potatoes w/ gravy that came with the corned beef & cabbage too. It was full of tasty herbs and and good texture to go with the delicious gravy. I'm not a huge fan of mashed potatoes so I'm no expert, but I would definitely order those again next time I visit! Very happy and full from our delightful Sunday dinner! Ah yes, the sounds and sights of the Quarter Celtic Manager working from his makeshift bartop office, clicking his pen, taking calls, and demeaning his kitchen staff; totally ruining the atmosphere for his customers. You want french fries with your sandwich? Nah, they don't have those. They'll happily "substitute" sweet potato fries, but, of course, leave out the fact they upcharge you. And when you ask for the manager to correct the upcharge since they were out of regular french fries, he avoids you. Wish I got his name - but alas - no interest in hearing from this patrons and how he can improve the customer experience. We have tried the original Quarter Celtic location a few times but had never tried the Juan Tabo location until last week. We were not disappointed, we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. I have been stalking this place on the Dark Side Brew Crew blog, Google, you name it, ever since I saw the sign go up months ago. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Marble and Boese but the heights really needs some love when it comes to good breweries that have solid food. Honestly, we had been to Quarter Celtic at the San Mateo location once and we really enjoyed it but we just are hardly ever on that side of town anymore so I was anxiously awaiting this bad boy to open up. Enough on that though- I finally saw they were open this weekend and we had to go and we were definitely not disappointed. The selection of beers is great and every single one was solid. The Rose Marie is your basic b*tch wine in beer form. I personally love it- it reminds me a lot of Elephants on Parade if you replaced the wheaty flavor with a touch of tartness. The Dark Pedro was also delicious- like a craft version of Negro Modelo, I approve. Irish Handcuffs was damn tasty but the high octane with the heaviness of a stout is no bueno when it was literally 100 degrees outside. The food. So many options, it was really hard to choose. I went with the Reuben. I can't help it. I think I'm an unofficial Reuben connoisseur at this point. It was pretty tasty. Hubby had the fish & chips- also very tasty and they seriously have the best type of fries. I don't know how to describe them but they'd damn fine- same with the poutine. The house salad also was generous and the croutons were made from the same marbled rye of the Reuben. Overall, very happy with our first visit. Tried to make it in earlier in the week for dinner around 7:30 and it was completely packed as we should have known from the very full parking lot. It's a seat yourself place and it didn't seem like anyone was leaving anytime soon so we went somewhere else. Inspired by the big crowd and determined to give this place a try (we've seen the sign up for months) we made it in around 4pm on Friday as a group of 4. Seating was readily available. Service was just OK. I ordered the fish tacos (which the menu indicates you can order grilled or fried) which the menu says comes with beans. I place my order for fish tacos and the server asks which side I want (fries, slaw, etc.) I point to the menu and ask if it comes with another side in addition to the beans and she says yes. Long story short, despite my request for clarification, the fish tacos didn't come with beans so I missed out on the beans because the server wasn't familiar with the menu and substituted the side. Someone else ordered the cobb salad which from the menu makes it seem like it could be a meal-sized salad but it was WEAK. A few leaves of lettuce with some lunch meat torn up on top. I felt bad for him and urged him to order something else which he declined. Will probably only give this place one more chance and definitely won't order the salads. read more

Where oh where were you when I lived just down the street? No matter I'll travel the extra distance for the beer, food and friendly faces. From Poutine with an umf with green Chile and bacon (trust me) to the staple fish and chips. All the food is delicious and always served with a smile. They have staple beers on tap but the fun comes with the seasonals. Ask for a sample of you feel uncertain but before you leave you'll find a favorite. When friends ask for happy hour ideas this is my new go to. Looking forward to the warmer weather when I can enjoy the patio. Maybe even invite one of my fur babies to share some scotch eggs. We started with the pretzel stick with cheese... delicious! & the wings absolutely delicious (one said spicy, I thought they were perfect!) then for dinner, I had the Reuben... ummm it was uh-mazing!!! The others had the Celtic trio. Bangers & mash, scotch egg, stew, fish & chips... bangers & mash... good Scotch egg- good with mustard Stew- delicious Fish & chips- the fish was perfection!!!! We did *not* expect this place to be as good as it was, and that's not in anyway a disparagement. We both thought we would be in for a treat, but quite literally every dish was the best my wife and I had eaten of its type. Best bangers and mash, best beef stew, and the kicker - the best scot eggs; we make them at home from scratch and don't make them this well. The vegetarian burger was amazing, which is too many times an afterthought at places like this. Oh, and their beer puts to shame just about all of the posh micro-brews I've visited - and you can get them in cans to go. What a gem. We have always frequented the original Quarter Celtic but we are now hanging out at the one they have opened on Juan Tabo as it is closer to our house. They have the same delicious beer, wine and food! My husband loves their Crimson Lass and all of their IPAs are delicious. Food favorites include the fish and chips, the hamburgers, and the nachos. You can't beat the fried pickles and their salads. Bottom line, all the food is fresh, nicely prepared and reasonably priced! They have always had excellent service. This location has set up an outside patio behind the restaurant during COVID-19 as they only have a very small patio so you can still go there if you prefer outside seating. Check it out! read more

We live close to, and visit often the other location on Lomas & San Mateo. My brother was visiting and told us about the Juan Tabo location! I was so excited and couldn't believe we'd missed its opening. It's in a little strip mall and the parking is tight. But we got a space after about 30 seconds so it was still fine. They have a little patio out front that I'd like to enjoy in the Summer, and inside it's spacious with a nice pub feel. We were greeted very warmly and led to the others on our group. They have normal sized tables, tall tables and a bar. We were at a tall table. The beer was good as it usually is with them and everyone was satisfied. I got the fish & chips which is a solid dish to get with them, and most of the other people at the table got the corned beef. It smelled amazing and the tiny bite my husband let me have was heavenly. I'll give the whole dish a try next time for sure. The staff was courteous and made eye contact. I'm glad I have a NE Heights place to take folks and I'm looking forward to going back. read more

I stopped by with a friend and we got some fish and chips along with an order of poutine. The poutine is spot on, hot savory gravy with fresh curds to really give a good melt to your fries. Yes it does become a sloshy pile of fries, but thats when you know its good, all the flavors melting into one delicious dish that goes really well with a cold drink. Checked this place out on a Friday Night. They were busy but we were sat right away, and the service was very good and quick! The Pretzel Sticks we ordered were pretty good. The cheese was not warm enough, but it wasn't cold either. Definitely would get them again. The fish and chips were good, not great, but still pretty good. Slightly overcooked, and the tartar sauce was more watery than I prefer. Price was fair though. I don't think I will get the fish and chips again, but I will definitely be back to try some other options! read more
