Due to the COVID restrictions at the time, we couldn't sit inside, let alone sit at the rooftop bar, as we discovered there was none with the Quays. However, they did have seating available across the street in a make-shift outdoor patio with barrel tables and bar stools, so we took a table and ordered some Jameson. If anything, the outdoor seating allowed us to enjoy some people-watching in the heart of Temple Bar in Dublin City Centre. As we were the only proper tourists in the area, as Ireland had just opened up to travelers, we enjoyed hanging out with the locals and the warm weather (at least for Ireland standards).

A taste of home for an American who just couldn't do anymore Guinness!

I was an American Tourist when I Went there. And I went to NINE pubs that day my friends. Of all the temple bar area pubs this one was the best. They accommodate (to a degree) the confusion of foreign tourists. The beer is cold and crisp. The music is on point and the place is perfectly located. If you are a tourist and go to one bar in the temple bar district only, this one is the place

Another expensive must stop in on your tour. Excellent location with great vibes to indulge in yet another pint of Guinness, meet new people and enjoy the lively band, who is taking requests for the classics! This place was PACKED ON THE WEEKEND. No seats to be had! It was a great way to ensure everyone is up and moving :) Of course, this is yet another location for overly priced pints meant to gauge tourists :) 10 euro minimum for credit cards.

We could not have been luckier to stumble on this place after wandering for what seemed like forever for food! The 45 minute wait was intimidating, but we saw the food around us and knew it would be worth it. For such a crowded place, the service was quick. My traditional Irish stew was hot, fresh, and tasty. I had never had it before but I can imagine it was high quality. The Bailey's ice cream was a perfect end to the night. Would highly recommend a nice meal here, just go early to avoid a wait.

Upstairs pub and restaurant in middle of Temple Bar area. There is a 20€, 2-course menu with many selections to choose from. I opted for the Boxty cake starter and fish & chips entree. Both were pretty good, but the Fish really stood out - tender, fresh, and large portion. This is nice place to take a break at, whether for a drink or meal. Atmosphere is homely and welcoming, service is top notch.

In Temple Bar square, the Quays Bar remains a popular destination for Dublin tourists and new residents. It draws a steady crowd because throughout the afternoon, musicians take the stage (conveniently placed in the window of the pub). I go here sometimes because the music is good and there's good craic. Simon Gynn, a singer and guitarist, plays throughout the week. His good looks and charm keep many customers entertained. Alternatively, the Quays also doubles as a sports' bar. You can catch all major sporting events on their flat screen TV. This pub is not the most authentic Irish bar, but it's a safe bet. The Guinness is tasty and the customers are interested in making new friends.

The Quays: I'm a fan simply for the live music and for the cool location on a square in Dublin's Temple Bar! Temple Bar is already a vibrant location but add some really cool tunes and it makes it an even more memorable experience. What's more... if there's an event (like the recent American college football game tailgate) you can request plastic cups to enjoy your bevvies outside while taking in the festivities. And, the tunes can be heard curbside! Rock on at The Quays (it's pronounced 'keys' by the way ;)

A lovely place to settle in for a pint, even if it is amongst the tourists. Serving up a great pint of Guinness, the bar staff is great and is attentive enough that I don't think I ever had an empty when I was sitting at the bar. The decor is traditional pub, which is I suppose why the tourists love it so. It gets quite crowded, so make sure and time your pub time well.

Great place to head if you're struggling to achieve your 'one-a-day Irish-American tourist' targets. Personally I love those guys, here because their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents hail from the Emerald Isle, and kicking themselves because they haven't experienced the craic sooner (and gosh, I can't talk myself...) So what you'll get at The Quays is not your authentic Irish pub experience, it's more of a 'tourists experiencing an Irish pub' experience, but the crowds are good, the craic is mighty, and the live music is rocking. Head here at any time of the day or night (but it gets mega packed in the evenings, so don't plan on moving once you get inside!) The great locale in the centre of Temple Bar means The Quays will always attract its fair share of customers, and will always hold the possibility of interesting conversations with soon-to-be best friends!

Good cider selection for the sweet tooth.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.

Thankfully, when I arrived around 1, one table happened to be opened so no wait for me. A long queue did start soon after though so just be prepared for some wait depending on when you arrive. I ordered the Seafood Chowder and the Guinness Stew. Both were very tasty! The Seafood Chowder had a good amount of seafood and the flavor was hearty but not overly heavy. Same applies to the Guinness Stew. Very hearty with lots of beef chunks but I didn't feel too heavy after eating it. The stew is definitely much different in terms of flavor and the richness (the stew was a lot more rich) but having the contrast of both dishes was ideal. To top it off, dipping the provided soda bread in each of the dishes was an added bonus. The service is very prompt and the staff are friendly. There's a decent amount of tables so turnover shouldn't be too long for those waiting in the queue. Will definitely be back on my next visit to Dublin to try the other dishes!
