I was welcomed by my hair stylist Marisa, she's very friendly and she came early for my appointment (coz they open at noon but i can't make it tomorrow so she offered me an earlier time than noon) Anyhow, she even offered me breakfast (tea & cookies) that I haven't been to any salon offer me that kind of service. (Review based on 3.5 stars) Que Bella Salon is located right next to Baskin Robbins near a corner with (free) street parking (limit 2 hours). I came by this salon this afternoon (They are closed on Mondays) around 11:45 am for my 12 pm appointment with Sabrina. When I entered, she was already waiting for me at the front desk. She was very friendly and it was nice chatting with her. I came in mind with a specific request, which I explained to her that I wanted to cut my hair for charity. I always grow my hair and donate to charity (specifically I donate to Pantene Pro V's Beautiful Lengths in case you were wondering). And so I had asked her to tie up my hair and braid it, as that is the way this particular charity I am donating to would like their hair to be sent. She told me that people come in here all the time donating so this request was not too unique. Anyways, after she cut my hair (just to donate, this isn't the full hair cut that I had come in for), she took me to the back to have my hair washed. I also had a deep conditioning treatment as well, where she left me alone and walked to the front. She didn't tell me how long she would leave for, which I thought she should have at least. But after the conditioning treatment, she finished rinsing my hair (which she got some of the treatment and water on my face a few times) and walked me over to the chair in the front. She finished trimming my hair and blow drying it to add volume (she didn't ask me how I wanted my hair to be). She actually burned my ear a few times while she was blow drying my hair (which made me a bit nervous the whole time she was doing this). During the time she was trimming my hair, another employee was talking to her (which I thought the employee should have waited til after I was gone to talk), while she was talking to me (so it made me feel a little odd). Also I felt that just a little part of my hair was a little uneven (barely noticeable though, but still bugs me). In about one hour, I was done with much shorter hair (at the length I am happy with), hair ready to be donated in a little bag and my hair feeling so nice and soft. Now I just wanted to mention that I had some trouble making an appointment initially. I had tried calling a few times and left a message but never got a call back. I had also tried making an appointment on their business website but never had anyone contact me. Then just one day, I called around 11 am on a Saturday and was lucky that someone answered the phone. First visit, I got my asymmetrical cut done about six months ago. Second trip...and got my hair bleached, lifted twice and pastel purple! Couldn't have asked for anything better. I went in wanting part of my hair dyed pastel, and Sabrina was able to help me figure out exactly what I wanted and what would fit my hair style. We went with pastel hair on the long side of my asymmetrical hair cut, since ombré wouldn't work well with my short hair. I don't understand why this place isn't overflowing with yelp reviews. Lorenzo is a god. Both times I've been here, I've shown up with some vague idea of what I want (and I really mean vague. I am horrible at going to salons because I really don't know what I want, I just have general ideas relating to color), and Lorenzo has delivered. This time, I gave him some inane description like "Some highlights, maybe? Not too crazy red though. Something that will grow out nice and I don't have to maintain. Oh, and layers." Lorenzo took one look at me and then had Vanessa do my highlights. She did an AMAZING job. Lorenzo's cut and style had me feeling like I should have planned something more exciting to do than go eat meat pies in Monterey Park afterward. I don't like getting haircuts generally because they cost an arm and a leg and I don't trust that the hairdresser will get it right the first time. Lorenzo has not failed me. I will gladly pay the price to be able to place complete faith in someone, knowing they will make me look great. There are a lot of salons in a very small area near this salon. I haven't been to all of them, but that's because once I had gone to Que Bella I didn't feel the need to keep trying the others. I have been a client of Que Bela for a couple years now and every time the service and quality has been outstanding. After being greeted, I am offered a glass of ice tea or a rose or some other wine. I know it's a little thing, but I love being pampered. The owner/lead stylist is Lorenzo and he is an artist. I know that he used to run the salon as an employer and all the other stylists as employees, but that now, some of the other stylists rent their stations. All that is to say, I can't vouch for the quality of any non-Lorenzo trained stylists. But I can say that every time I or my girlfriend leave the salon, we look fabulous. Chic, sleek and sexy. This review is for Marisa! I bought the Groupon deal for the $36 gel mani & regular pedi. When I walked inside there was no receptionist, only a hairstylist working on a client. Marisa later walked to the front and asked me if I had been helped. She was working on someone's hair and was running a little behind. At this point I wondered if the Groupon was a mistake, but Marisa seemed sweet and sincere. About 30 mins later when she starts my nails she explains how her coworker was out sick. Marisa was running around working on 3 different clients and trying to man the front desk! She finished up the others right after soaking my nails. Let me tell you, my nails needed some major TLC. Marisa was so meticulous and detailed, the mani came out gorgeous. As for the pedi, I was so embarrassed at my ogre toes and chewbacca leg hair but Marisa saw it as no challenge whatsoever. She is incredibly kind, and incredibly skilled. The salon also offers complimentary tea/water/hot chocolate and the Aveda products she uses for the massage smell sooo good . My pedicure also came with a scrub and some awesome soft oily stuff. I regret not having more for tip, but when I return (which I definitely will do) I look forward to my appointment and giving her the tip she deserves. If you come at a hectic time, be patient. Came in today for a cut with Lorenzo. Very happy with it! While I was waiting for the client ahead of me to be done, Lorenzo (who is the owner) struck up a conversation with me. It was nice that he remembered me since I had only been in once before. We also talked about what I wanted with my cut. Jessie (also very friendly) then gave me a nice scalp massage, shampoo + condition, and glossing treatment. Since the last client was still being worked on, he also did my make-up (fun!). I have been going to Lorenzo for over 10 years to get my hair cut. I first visited him to fix a bad highlight job and he did such an amazing job that I have kept coming back. Lorenzo is truly an artist. He gets to know you and can come up with great ideas for your hair. Most importantly, he listens to his customers and stays within their comfort zones. When I was ready for a bob in 2008, he is the one that did it. Now, I go in with an idea of length (today I told him I wanted it just under my shoulders) and let him go with his idea. He is also great at showing how to style hair. My hair is super straight and I am often rushing in the morning and he cut it in a way to make it easy for me. I never write reviews, so it takes a really good or bad experience to get me on Yelp. I was excited to try this place, but upon rescheduling my appointment, the owner called me back and said he noticed that I cancelled my first appointment last minute. I admitted to that--I was planning to get a mani-pedi that day for an event that ended up getting cancelled, and when I called to cancel, the girl who answered said it was no problem. He then told me how if I came to the new appointment, that I would be charged an extra $15 for canceling and that this policy was supposedly included in the fine print of my Groupon. I checked my Groupon after we hung up and the explanation of the cancellation policy was nowhere to be found. The only thing the fine print said was "cancellation policies apply," and if that were the case, the girl who answered the phone should have told me there would be such a costly consequence. To top it off, after he explained this, he preceded to scold me and tell me that if he were me, he wouldn't cancel on someone because it'd be an inconvenience. The nerve. This was extremely unprofessional. You should never talk down to customers or make them feel uncomfortable the way he did. read more

I was sitting there with my hair wet and dripping for a good twenty minutes while the stylist worked on her. I was actually really annoyed. The back of my shirt was all wet when I left the salon. 5 stars all around! I thank Groupon for bringing me here. Upon walking in to this gem, I must admit I was a bit hesitant. Not because I was offset by the staff or anything, but because of my past 4 horrid hair experiences at salons. Moving on, I scheduled my appointment on a Thursday to have my hair cut, highlighted, and deep conditioned. Tip: I generally make my appointments on days that the stylist is least/less busy because they're more personable and less likely to feel rushed/get distracted. Anyways, this review is specifically for the sweet Cassandra that took care of me. I went in with not really having an exact haircut in mind, so I just blandly told her that I wanted something "natural but a questionable color with a cut that gives volume and flatters my face." Color was a whole new world to me considering that it was my second time ever having my hair treated; perming my hair took my hair-ginity (which was a disaster), and getting partial highlights would be my second (a complete 180 delight). Cassandra was extremely nice and made me feel completely comfortable. Essentially, I trusted her to do whatever she felt was right to my hair without asking my opinion--which isn't necessarily a feeling someone would easily get after 4 consecutive borderline traumatizing hair experiences. And my instincts were right! She worked wonders. Wonders! She even gave me a complimentary hand massage as I waited for my hair to change colors (sorry, I don't know the proper term for this haha). At the end of it all, I walked out of the salon with a Rachel (from Friends)-like haircut/style and restored confidence in my hair :) Completely random side note: they have a really cool oil diffuser in their bathroom LOL and all their products smell really refreshing.
