I love love love this bakery. I haven't bought cakes from anywhere else ever since my coworker bought me a birth cake from here!! I've had probably 4 cakes from Quebrada in the past 4 months... and I wouldn't take back one slice! My cake ranking is: (1) Chocolate Raspberry Torte - I don't like fruity cakes usually, but the raspberry accents are subtle and goes really well with the chocolate! As long as chocolate always dominates, I'm a happy camper - everything else should be secondary :) This cake was a hit! (2) Chocolate Cream Cake - the filling of this one is pretty pudding-like, and my coworkers RAVED about it. They have designated me as the cake-buyer for events, and they always request this one! It is THAT good! I think most people would have this as their #1. (3) Classic Chocolate Cake - Quebrada does a great job on this classic go-to. My main issue is that I'm not a huge fan of buttercream frosting in general. I think any of their buttercream-frosting cakes taste better with whipped cream frosting: it feels much lighter than the buttercream I have also brought some croissants into work a few times and they are always a huge hit. The plain & chocolate croissants are heavenly, but my personal favorite is the almond croissant. I have dreams about that croissant & the delicious almond paste on the inside :D I would strongly recommend Quebrada to anyone looking to please a crowd! My wife and I wanted to get a coffee, a couple of scones and an apple juice for our child on Sunday morning. We arrived at about 11am to find almost empty shelves. When we asked about scones we were told that everything was already sold out. No scones. No croissants. Stuff mumbled something repeatedly about everything being sold out. This is 11 am on Sunday! Coffee was cold. 11 am on Sunday. They were out of apple juice that my sun eanted. My best guess is that they did not bake anything and just were selling leftovers from the day before, but it does not matter. Even if they baked and were out of everything at 11 am it is a disgrace! A bakery that is empty at 11 am in the morning, has cold coffee and half sleeping stuff that tells you they have nothing shoul not stay in business! read more

The service here is problematic. How many times have I ordered "with almond milk" and they have delivered "with skim milk"? 5 in a row. This is why having a busy cafe/bakery managed by 4 teenagers is a bad idea. An easy coffee with almond milk that should take 2 minutes takes 10 minutes. For a bakery to constantly run out of its baked goods by 11:30am on Saturday and Sunday is unacceptable. People only go here because it's the only option around and the baked goods are indeed good, but no one likes dealing with them or all the times they are sold out. Quebrada is easily the best bakery in Wellesley. I have been coming since I was a child and really enjoy everything. Here are my favorites: Ham and Cheese Croissants - they sell out really fast so be sure to come in earlier if you want them. They're super good and always taste super fresh. I'm pretty sure that Quebrada doesn't make more after the first batch but I could be wrong. The croissant is super flaky and has a really gourmet taste for a croissant. Lemon Berry Cake - this is such a good cake to bring to small get togethers. The lemon makes the cake nice and zesty so it isn't heavy. Even though there's a lot of butter, you don't feel super icky after eating it. The cake is awesome because it isn't super sweet but does satisfy your sweet tooth. Pumpkin Bread - Quebrada's pumpkin bread is the best. I haven't been able to find a pumpkin bread that beats theirs. As someone who doesn't like pumpkin, they have made something that even I enjoy. The bread has lots of spices and really tastes like fall. The bread is also super moist and feels kind of like a dessert. Matcha Latte - this is a newer item but I hope it stays. It's a basic matcha latte but it tastes great. I always order soy matcha lattes from Starbucks and they come out as big cups of soy milk with matcha powder on the bottom. But, at Quebrada, the matcha is well mixed with the milk and I can really taste the matcha flavor, even if it's the same ingredients as Starbucks. The latte is smooth and creamy. Overall, I love Quebrada. They make great food and are super friendly with their customers. They're fast but never rush you. I took off one star just because their coffee hasn't been the same since they renovated (it's not as strong and is more acidic) and the prices can be kind of expensive. But, I do think it is worth coming and trying. read more

I have made several special orders at Quebrada for special occasions, and each time, it's been a complete success. We ordered an anniversary cake that was excellent, birthday cupcakes (in a complex variety of flavors, frostings, toppings, and writing) that were a dream, and tons of their little amuse-bouche desserts. Never have we had anything but the best experience at Quebrada. The quality, price, service, and tastiness of their products is untouchably good. I had to call and change several things about our cupcake order (quantity, types, and pick-up time), in several different phone calls, and they accommodated our calls and requests without any problems. They bake everything: bread, cake, muffins, cupcakes, and all kinds of other things. We love this bakery! In their bathroom hangs a sign to employees that reads, "wash your hands while singing Happy Birthday To You." That's the sunniest, classiest make-sure-you-wash-up-for-fifteen-seconds sign I've ever seen. Now that Whole Foods has moved, there's even more good, free, off-street parking at Quebrada. read more

Their croissants went downhill for the past 2-3 years since they've expanded at Wellesley. What used to be flaky buttery croissants are now just average semi-soggy slightly better than average overpriced croissants. Not sure why. This place smells delicious! Like warm, fresh donuts and coffee. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try any of their pastries. We picked up a cake for our little one's birthday. I had called earlier in the week to see if I needed to preorder and they said no, they make the smaller cakes every day. The part they left out was that strawberry cakes must be preordered. Bummer. I was really looking forward to trying their cake since the reviews seemed very good. A friend also chimed in that Quebrada was a good pick since she likes to go there whenever she's in the area. We ended up with a chocolate cake. I was surprised to find that the cake was dry. I'm not much of a fan of icing but theirs was a bit stiff and not all that tasty. I grew up on homey, family owned bakeries so I'd want to try them out again. Maybe it's just the strawberry cake that's their star. I'll know better now. Next time, I guess! I don't think I'll be able to resist their pastries a second time either. Update: Tried them again. We have ordered a few cakes from here for work parties and they have always been fantastic. Their cakes and pastries aren't grocery store prices but you aren't getting grocery store products either... you get what you pay for :D Recently we had a chocolate cake that was perfect - not many bakeries make a good chocolate cake - but they certainly do! We also get scones from here from time to time for meetings and they are always great and always go quick. Quebrada recently renovated and it looks amazing! It's bright and open and they are able to showcase there amazing baked goods much better than before. Their cakes are delicious, especially the chocolate and raspberry. They have so many different types of croissants, both sweet and savory , any pastry lover's dream. All of the desserts I have tried there have been amazing. I got a mocha, but it seemed there was no chocolate in it at all, which was disappointing. I highly recommend their cakes for birthdays and other special occasions, as they are so beautiful. I studied here for a couple hours the other day, and it wasn't too loud, plus they had free WiFi. Their food is great, though portions are tiny. Prices have sky-rocketed, and they were already too high. My main complaint is the service. The teens/younger crowd they have working there always seem to be great, however, the person I assume is the owner/store manager is so incredibly rude. She has been rude to me, but more importantly, I've seen her speak in an extremely inappropriate way to her staff on multiple occasions. This alone has made me dread revisiting. I used to go every weekend, but since this occasion, I've visited only once, which is the next thing I want to mention... Upon revisiting, I put in an order for a pick-up to surprise my family. I drove an hour to get there and when I arrived for pick up (during COVID, so I had to call to inform I was there) I was on the phone with someone for close to ten minutes because they couldn't find my order, which I had already paid for. They couldn't even find my email, so when they had to rebuild my order, they didn't have what I had paid for! Just a suggestion: maybe charge your customers AFTER pick up, if you can't get a handle on this. Even worse: I was accused of SENDING SOMEONE ELSE TO PICK UP this order and then trying to pick up A SECOND ORDER!! As if I have nothing better to do during these insane times as a teacher than to drive almost two hours back and forth in order to steal 20 bucks worth of croissants from this bakery! On top of this, they made me give them my name and number before they handed the order so they can "investigate," adding insult to injury! Yesterday was my birthday, I ordered my favorite birthday cake from Quebrada (The Strawberry Cake). When I arrived to pick up my cake it had been damaged during delivery. The staff was on it, they were frantically calling to get me another cake. I was so impressed. I bought cupcakes just in case the worst case scenario came and I couldn't get a replacement in time. But then only a few hours later my phone was ringing, and free of charge they had driven to my home to deliver my birthday cake. I wasn't home and these sweet humans (with my permission obviously) put the cake in my fridge to make sure it was safe and sound for my birthday celebration. Easily the best bacon and egg sandwich I've ever had. I had never been before, so I was expecting it on an English muffin. When I saw that it was on a croissant, I was like, "Great, this will fall apart in two seconds." I WAS WRONG. It was the perfect temperature, the perfect texture, the perfect size. Absolutely delicious flavor -- and it kept its shape while I was driving on my way to work. I was a little surprised by the price but after eating it, I felt like it was all worth it. Quebrada was my longtime favorite bakery while I was an undergrad at Babson. They baked my 20th birthday cake through a blizzard (a phenomenal chocolate cake with chocolate-covered strawberries), my friends would visit as a halfway mark during their morning jogs. Getting a savory croissant (ham and cheese was my favorite) or pastry here was always such a treat. The inside of the bakery is super charming, and it's always so festive during different holidays (Christmas, Easter, etc). We were passing through the town and decided to make a pit stop for coffee. We ended trying out and enjoying a lot more than coffee ! The service was great. The folks are truly nice and passionate about what they served baked. We tried the walnut and fruit jelly tart that was put out for samples and it was beyond delicious! We asked for one to go but they were out of it. We ended up getting a berry cake which was equally delicious. We had banana nut muffin which was ok. My kids loved the sugar cookies! Great coffee! Parking out front was easy. The staff was nice and accommodating (let me use my reusable coffee cup), but I wasn't as in love with the pastry as I wanted to be. Got a croissant and it wasn't the flakey French kind, it was a little more like the sponge-y cake-y kind which isn't my fav (croissants are so much butter--I like the crispness so they're not as greasy, however this would be baller hangover food, ha!). Honestly this place is OK. I feel like whoever is giving them 5 star reviews have never had a proper pastry/baked item. If you grew up in an Italian household like me I would not recommend. The cupcake and cookies were flavorless and not sweet enough (this is coming from someone who prefers savory over sweet and abhors overly sweet items). The filled croissants barely had filling. The customer service was severely lacking. Overall there are pleanty of places nearby you can get more quality items for the money. I couldn't believe the total when I check out. Way too costly for the quality. I agree with another review that some of their items are clearly made the day before that they are passing off as fresh. I just wanted a cookie . . . I nibbled a sample of a chocolate chip cookie as I browsed the wide selection of cookies here. From adorably decorated sugar cookies to chunky and moist chip-based cookies, everything looked good. I finally settled upon a chocolate-chocolate chip cookie. They were priced at $9.95/pound, and while the cookies were pretty small, they were dense. Whatever. I had no problem shelling out a buck or two, because I really wanted a cookie. I placed my order with a young-ish high-school girl, who seemed pretty new and was unfamiliar with the register. She fumbled around for a bit while the thing beeped at her. Finally, she told me that my cookie was 11 cents. Holy cheapness! I looked surprised and handed her a buck. As she entered $1.00 into the cash register, it started beeping at her again. At this point, a manager-ish woman came over and totally lost her cool with the girl. In front of a customer. I was horribly embarrassed for the kid behind the counter and really just wanted out of there, as quickly as possible. The cookie was divine, but I just can't support a business that let's its managers behave like that. So, I give this place 5 stars for the cookie, and 0 stars for customer service. I'm really impressed by all the reviews from regulars. If I was a regular here, I would weigh 300 pounds easily. Not that there is anything wrong with being 300 pounds (assuming you're 7 feet tall). I've now been to Quebrada a couple times, once for cupcakes and most recently (2 days ago) for a birthday cake for my mother. For comparison, I've previously purchased cakes from the bakeries at Whole Foods in Newton and Wellesley. First off, kudos to Quebrada for a modern and easy to navigate website, complete with all pricing information. Most of the reviews on Yelp say their prices are on the high side, but I think that's subjective. Sure, it's more expensive than Trader Joes or Stop & Shop, but I'd beg to differ that the quality is much higher as well. 6" cakes average $26/ea, cookies are $1, cupcakes are $3, and a dozen mini-cupcakes are $10. I don't think that's too outrageous. If you bought one cake per week you'd have a $100/mo cake budget; and also most likely diabetes. Fair warning that they only make a limited number of cakes per day, so make sure to give them 24 hour notice. When I went, the only cakes they had available were carrot and chocolate. They told me that they only make whipped cream cakes to order, so keep that in mind if you're looking for the strawberry or lemon cream cakes. The 6" chocolate mocha cake I went home with was divine. Although, I really want to try the lemon cream cake, so I'll probably convince my family that the pilgrims ate lemon cream cake on Thanksgiving. The service was great and they did a phenomenal job personalizing the cake and making sure it was secure in the box. Quebrada will be my go-to bakery for years to come. read more

Giving this 5 stars based solely on their croissants - I was randomly driving by and stopped in to see what they had for savory breakfast pastries and was delighted to see so many croissant choices. I went with my preferred, ham and cheese, and while I was there figured I'd grab a chocolate one to try later. The ham and cheese one was by far the best I've ever had! It comes warm and it was so flaky and buttery and Just absolutely delicious. After I scarfed it down I figured I'd have a bite of the chocolate one just to see if it was equally as good and it did not disappoint- I ended up eating the whole thing right away bc I couldn't stop! The head of the Nursing Dept at BC brought us these bad babies from Wellesley as we worked on a grant. The sticky goodness did not stain the PDF. So this is how people from Wellesley eat. Quebrada is also in Arlington. Quebrada has these lovely pastries with plump raisins, twisted up light flakey sugar iced. Twisted up peacan pastries, better than Linda's pecan delights. I love you mom, that's just my evil sweet tooth talking. You know how medicore pastries are just heavy? Not these. And croissants filled with raspberry jelly, or special chocolate, not that they need any filling. Some say "best croissants" in Boston. I've been going to Quebrada for many years, because I like the pecan rolls, the almond croissants, chocolate croissants, and the raspberry croissants. The sugar cookies are cute, but mealy and not very tasty. The muffins are heavy and dense. The cupcakes are refrigerated, so they're somewhat hard, and the frosting is cold and congealed. The bread is spongy and dry, and it doesn't hold a candle to Hazel's Bakery bread which used to be located in that strip of stores years ago and is now in Needham. Quebrada used to serve coffee in mugs, but then they switched to paper cups. Now they have changed paper cups brand to a lower quality, and you can taste the paper when you drink the coffee. In the afternoon, Wellesley teenagers work there, who are much friendlier and classier. Recently, I went there in the morning and had a really unpleasant experience with a transaction that makes me not want to return until they hire nicer and more professional staff, which is why I gave only 2 stars, even though the croissants and pecan rolls are very good. I buy Trader Joe's frozen croissants and rise them overnight, then bake them in the morning myself. They're warm and toasty out of the oven, flakier, lots cheaper, and I don't have to brace myself to deal with the morning staff. Clear Flour Bakery in Brookline is better than Quebrada in overall quality of baked goods, and the service is pleasant and professional. Unfortunately, it's far from my house and parking is scarce there. One piece of advice if you go to the Wellesley Quebrada: use a credit card and request a receipt. The staff often acts impatient in the mornings, but don't let them rush you to the point you don't have time to ask for a receipt to make sure you've been charged the correct amount and gotten the correct change. read more

Complimentary water is often dirty, probably due to the fact that the tank never been cleaned, when this was brought to the staff's attention there were no apologies, they looked at me I like I was just another Wellesley snub. 1-star for service Coffee gets 2-stars. It is more expensive than DD or Starbucks but can't match either in terms of quality. No respectable place would serve coffee from a thermos. I was religiously coming here for the last 18-month. I came here in January and completely forgot to review this place, probably because I wasn't too impressed. They have parking on the street, so on a busy day finding parking could be an issue. Service here wasn't that good! Me and my sister went here on a dead Saturday afternoon and the we were barely getting any attention from the staff that day, but it was a teenager behind the counter, so that says it all! It was my first time going to Quebrada and I had no clue what to get and the staff could've given me some recommendations or said something, but of course he didn't say anything! We had gotten a box of 5 mini sized desserts, which were 2 chocolate cheesecakes, 2 strawberry cheesecakes and a mini fruit tart for my wife. My sister wanted the plain croissant and that's what she bought. When we had gotten home we ate dinner and than had the desserts. I thought the cheescakes were pretty good and my wife loved the fruit tart, but my sister wasn't to impressed by the croissant and actually said she would rather go elsewhere for a croissant. This place wasn't bad, I went here based on the Yelp reviews, but the horrible service didn't give me the best impression.
