My apologies to the queen for forgetting to review this place all these years. I remember when I first moved here, QoS was a godsend for my Ethiopian fix when all the other decent spots were an hour away--esp. since they delivered on Seamless. Portions were big, flavors were bigger, and prices were affordable. I just came back here with some friends, and well, times have definitely changed at the palace. The queen's got some nifty tablet menus now with lots of glossy menu photos, but the prices are heftier and the portions are noticeably smaller. Worst of all, the flavors were muted: too much butter, too little berbere, and the injera was too soggy and not sour enough. Sigh. Out of the Taste Of Sheba combo, the best dishes were the Menchet Abesh Wot, Yebeg Alecia and Doro Wot, while the worst/blandest had to be the Gomen Wot, Ater Kik Alecha and Tibs Wot. But at least the alcohol is still affordable.

I LOVE QUEEN OF SHEBA 5/5 This is a must go for me anytime I'm in NYC. My favorite Ethiopian restaurant I have tried. The food is so flavorful and spiced to perfection. We got the taste of Sheba for 32$ and it was absolutely delicious!!

Had been craving Ethiopian food and this place hit the spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small, cozy restaurant great for a relaxing meal and good conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got tibs wot which was absolutely delicious and came out with veggies for more well rounded flavors. My friend got the vegetarian sampler and enjoyed it as well. We were filling up quickly on the injera and had to ask for forks halfway through the meal so we could finish the food and ease up on the edible spoons/forks. We also ordered honey wine which was tasted exactly like it sounds.

Little spot tucked away in midtown! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walk in and you will immediately be greeted by a wave of amazing scents and spices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was not too crowded when I came on a Monday evening and continued to have available seating up until I left.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tried the vegetarian and meat sample platters, which was a great way to eat a variety of dishes. The portions were HUGE though, so I'd recommend sharing a sampler between 2 people and maybe getting another small dish on the side. The meat sampler was spicier than the vegetarian one and many of the meats tasted quite similar to me. My personal fave were the collard greens which I normally hate. The entire platter came on a big sheet of injera which soaked up a lot of the sauces and flavor and was amazing and fluffy. There was also plenty of injera on the side to use to eat the sauces. We weren't given utensils so I'm pretty sure you're supposed to eat with your hands. The food was definitely a lot easier to eat with hands; however, the smell of the spices is very difficult to wash off (I tried dishwashing soap and regular soap many times), so be warned (or give me tips on techniques).

I lived in hells kitchen for 3+ years and was a pretty regular here & at meskerem (now closed.) Ethiopian is 'interesting' when you first try it, but quickly grows on you and them becomes a craving. Ive now moved to South Carolina and (shock!) there aren't many Ethiopian options nearby, but frequent visits back to NYC allow me to satisfy my craving. I do love that in 15+ years, the restaurant hasn't changed all that much, the menu not seemingly at all, but they've stepped up the game with iPad menus and electronic pay options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is super authentic and you feel like you've stepped straight into Africa.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This time, it was for Doro Wot and my weight in Injeri. I wasn't feeling , so got the hot tea, which was absolute delish. My friend went for the cabbage wot, which is always a strong choice. I also highly reco the samplers if it's your 1st time so you can try a little of everything. It's an acquired taste, but one I'm so glad I have in my life. Cant wait to go back soon!!

Combination Platter for two more than enough food and reasonably priced as well dessert optional lol.

Wow went here over the weekend and boy am I glad I did! This was my first visit but definitely will not be my last for sure. We ordered the combination platter for two and the price and portion was very reasonable. Everything was tasty and the right temperature. My favorite of this particular plate was the Doro Wat which was very spicy and tasty yummy! I thought everything was seasoned to perfection and prepared with love and affection. I loved the bread that came with it was well slightly sour and spongy super fresh and bouncy. We also ordered the coffee which was strong and full of flavor and aroma great on this rainy day. I also ordered tea to warm up before having my meal which was delicious and had cinnamon added for extra flavor. Lastly we ordered dessert I had the rum cake which was delicious maybe a little dry for me not enough rum but that's the alcoholic in me just kidding lol. We also ordered the Egg custard which was very good sweet, creamy, and smooth. I'm not sure if they make the desserts themselves on premises but they tasted great and were fresh. The service was prompt and attentive paying close attention to detail and waiting on us asking if we needed anything at the right time without hovering over us at all. I highly recommend the place and will come again. Price is just right and the taste is out of sight well worth it in my book I'm impressed. Run don't walk to this place when you're in the mood for Ethiopian food and having something off the beaten path. Enjoy!

There is metered parking or a parking garage close by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is small with only a few tables and low lighting but the service is great and the food is yummy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the combo meat and combo veggie, the portion size was big so we did have leftovers. I always love the chickpeas and lentils. The green beans were also really good. The doro wot had great flavor. It was a great meal that we both enjoyed. The price is on par with what I have seen at other Ethiopian places.

We had an excellent meal at Queen of Sheba. Our waitress was quick to help us and answer our questions. We were trying to get to a show and needed something fast, and they delivered on that! Our food was amazing. We will be returning!!

My friend and I were craving Ethiopian food and stumbled upon Queen of Sheba last Monday night. The food was really good, we got the sampler for 2 and were very satisfied. My favorite was the chickpeas but the beef was really good as well. The service was good, they kept refilling our water and checking in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were there for a couple of hours and noticed it started getting busy later in the evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had candles on each table for dinner giving it a nice ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Felt sick right as I was eating the platter -- came with a bunch of meats and bread, but wasn't too hot as it came out, thought it'd be hotter. Unfortunately, I did not have a good night after that, but did eventually feel better. Given that experience, I will probably be avoiding Ethiopian food for a while. Also the staff there were very slow and practically did not see our table the entire time.

The menu is huge and a bit overwhelming, it's best to just jump to the samplers. We had 3 hungry adult men in our group so it turned out that one of each of the two samplers was more than enough. And since there is only a little overlap between the two samplers, you get to try many different items that way. Taste Of Sheba Sampler: My favorite of the two samplers I tried, probably because it's so meat forward. The Tibs Wot and Bozena Shiro were the tastiest to since they used cubes of meat that carried the spices so well. Everything else was tasty though and paired so nicely with the injera. Though the hard boiled egg in the Doro Wot was a bit challenging to share among 3 people; it got really messy when we were picking it apart. Sheba Vegetarian Sampler: Also offers a nice variety of dishes to try. Runs the gamut from stewed lentils to fresh beets. Didn't feel as hearty as the Taste of Sheba Sampler, but that's probably the meat-lover bias in me. I did like having enough people in our group so we could try both.

Such an amazing restaurant! The food is incredible and the staff is very nice and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is very charming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've been here many times over the years and it is always consistently delicious.

    Is the lamb halal?

No. They don't have halal food.

Is this restaurant open for outdoor dining?

    yes!

Hi. I'd like to know whether there're gluten free options?

The basic product here is Injera, which is made of a grain called Teff- and unlike other grains it's gluten free. On that you can order any meat or vegetable option that you prefer.

We shared everything and tried both the Meat and Vegetarian combinations. Each vegetarian combo came with three veggie dishes. For the meats, we got Ye Siga Alicha Wot (stewed beef with sauce) and Doro Wot (chicken legs with berbere). Personally, I preferred the beef--it was very flavorful and tender. For the veggie choices, we had: Fasolia: Sautéed string beans and carrots Shiro Wot: Chickpea sauce Yemisir Wot: Red lentil stew--one of my favorites Ater Kik Alicha: Cooked split peas, very tasty Yatakilt Alicha: Cabbage, carrots, and potatoes Key Sir: Red beets, carrots, and potatoes--another favorite The portions were really generous, and everything came with injera, their spongy sourdough flatbread made from teff flour. The bread was a nice balance and paired perfectly with all the food. The service was great--friendly and attentive without rushing us out, so you can relax and hang out after your meal. It was also really fun to eat with my hands, which added to the authentic experience. The food tasted so good and genuine. Bonus points: the restaurant is close to public transport, and they accept both cash and card. Overall, I give this place a 10/10. Highly recommended!

I chose the misir wor (red lentils), shiro (ground chickpeas), gomen (collard greens), tofu tibs, and cabbage carrot dish. The mixture was a good blend of heartier lentils with fresher greens. Each dish had a unique flavor even though they use similar spices. My favorites were the shiro and the tofu tibs. The gomen felt undercooked and could have used more flavor. Finally, reservations are a pain to make - no one answers the phone or responds to emails and you can't make them online.
