After a while, I asked the bartender about a table for two, and she informed me of the self-seating policy. Once I found a table (though one of the chairs was blocked by a pillar) we waited for another table to free up. After that, the experience improved. The waitress was attentive, and both drinks and food arrived quickly without much wait. The overall atmosphere was great, and the live music added to the experience. It's exactly what you'd expect from an old-school joint like this: overcooked and loaded with unnecessary spices. But with the tasty, hot fries and fresh condiments, I actually wound up enjoying it a fair deal. It went really well with my beer, too. Eventually he showed up at my table with a glass of water - no sausage. I remarked that he should get off his phone and serve and he gave me the fey shoulder shrug indicating he did not give a fuck. He returned behind the bar and his colleague (fool #2) asked him something and they both gave that same fey shrug and disappeared back into the kitchen and reemerged with a sausage in a bowl - at this point I was finished eating the eggs, toast and bacon - the sausage was too late and my mood for these 2 idiots had expired and I left without tipping. It is not unreasonable to expect that a chain like Firkin could do something about this sub standard of could-not-care-less attention to their customers. The 2 fools who were supposed to be working and serving customers act as though the customers are a bother.
