I was feeling really sick right off the airplane and went to this urgent care. My initial reaction were the long waits here made me upset, they were running up to a 3 to 3.5 hour wait on a Monday. Luckily i got there before the rush and only had to wait 2 hours. When it was finally my turn, i received very good care by a doctor Keene and grateful for him because he did a really thorough examination, tests, x-rays and diagnosed me properly without rushing me out. This location has an xray technician which makes it so convenient. Highly recommend if you have a medical urgency that doesn't require an ER but you need urgent care. read more

Free Parking, friendly staff, and the doctor was very kind and thorough and explained things and answered our questions, the medical staff who took vitals and helped with the initial supportive treatment was very kind and hard working, and receptionist was hard working and did the paperwork efficiently. We came from out of town on vacation and had an injury and they were so kind and warm to us and generous with things we needed to be ok that night. Went yesterday as a walk-in for a swollen knee. It has been very painful and swollen for three days for no reason at all so I was a bit concerned. I did have to wait 20 minutes, but then I went to the back and was seen by Dr. Harry. This Dr was extremely professional, very nice and relatable. I explained to him that I have to go on TDY and take a very long flight Saturday morning, which was two days later. He understood and since he works I. Orthopedics, he knew exactly what was needed. He took x-rays and recommended a drainage. I was extremely scared to have a needle near my painful knee. He saw the nervousness so explained his background and how many times he's done this procedure to keep my mind at ease and it worked!! He was very gentle and he took great care of me. I visited urgent care at Pearl Kai on 11/30/24. I had been feeling pretty lousy and no appointments were available with my PCP. My temperature was 103 that morning, my chest felt so heavy, and I was spitting up thick mucus with blood. I did not have to wait long and told the intake person everything. She looked alarmed and said we may need to admit you to a hospital. But when I saw Doctor Pernille Ottosen, she did tests, discovered it was Influenza A, told me my body would fight it, gave me knuckles, and sent me on my way. No medicine or anything. She was much less concerned than the intake lady. So, I though, okay this flu is pretty bad. But I just need to push through. That night, I couldn't get comfortable to sleep. Every position I tried felt like I couldn't breathe. I considered going to the ER but would recall Dr. Ottosen's "Your body will fight this" and feel pretty dumb for being a wimp. So, I opted to go to CVS minute clinic in the morning. When I got to minute clinic (Pearlridge) I cried. I told him I was diagnosed with the flu and was told my body would fight this. But I feel so terrible. He said he will help me. He took my stats and saw that my oxygen level was in the in the low 80's. He told me this is a medical emergency and to go to the ER. So I did. I went straight to Pali Momi, they took my oxygen, immediately put me on oxygen and admitted me. Turns out I had pnemonia. But it doesn't end here. I was admitted and they tried giving me antibiotics for a day, but it didn't work fast enough and my lungs were going downhill. The doctor told me I would need to be on a ventilator for 2 days and he was sure he could clear this lung infection. Next thing I remember is 4 days later, waking up at Straub Benioff in town. I couldn't speak. The ventilator was still in. I was so confused. Later I found out everything. The ventilator didn't work, my lungs were failing... I was dying. My family was told to start gathering because I may not make it. I had to be put on ECMO for 4 days, ICU for 8ish days, and total of 11 days in the hospital. If you don't know what ECMO is, I didn't either. Last resort life support...pretty wild. Turns out the intake lady was right. I don't know if faster detection would have helped. My oxygen was 96% at urgent care. She listened to my lungs and there was no cackling. But I do believe my complaint of extreme chest pressure, high temp that day, and spitting up blood should probably have warranted a chest xray, and that would have revealed the pnemonia. I wish I advocated more for myself. It is almost a year since this happened. I'm doing okay but did develop a heart issue after this...probably from being so sick. But I'm so, so thankful to be alive. I'm not angry. But I write this reveiw to implore urgent care to treat all cases as serious. I know most people seeing you won't need to be admitted to a hospital or that some people exaggerate. But please err on the side of caution. It could mean the difference between life and death. You could make that difference! Unfortunately, I don't think I can ever go to an urgent care again. I'm sure they do some great things...but I'm too scared. I trusted the professionals to know better, yet they missed me, and I almost died. read more

I came here because I needed a doctor's note. Wasn't expecting to see a doctor but good thing I did because I got medicine to treat my congestion. I caught a cold yesterday so I needed a doctor's note to extend my sick leave off work. I have body aches, congestion and stuffed up nose. Checking in was easy. I showed my HMSA card along with my id. The lady told me to have a seat while waiting to be called. The doctor listened to my heart and my blood pressure was taken prior to seeing the doctor. Was glad it was normal. I have been having high readings in the past. My doctor sent out the prescription to the Walgreens in Waipahu. It took awhile for them to get it so I waited only 5 minutes or so. I'm glad I went to urgent care for a check up to see i have nothing serious. I got pretty good customer service. I had Dr Rory, he was super professional and can tell he cares. No problem with him at all! I did try calling the office itself but nobody answered and I tried calling different days and times no response. So I had to actually drive in. They forgot that I was in the waiting room for an hr once, when all I needed was to get my light duty note specified about what I can and can't do. They said I needed to make a whole new appointment and I was literally just seen a couple of days ago. At least they have a lot of parking! Queens Island Urgent Care centers do not appear to be connected to the same systems or aligned in scheduling and availability. Arrived at the Aiea/Pearl Kai location at 6:39pm. My wife had just had an ankle sprain and had a major fall. We wanted to have her evaluated and imaging done on her ankle. Upon arrival we were notified that the imaging equipment was down and they could not perform any imaging. They suggested that the Ewa clinic imaging was available and advised us to go there instead. We asked what their hours of operations were, considering we were anticipating traffic and wanted to be sure that she could be seen. They assured us that the Ewa clinic closes at 8pm, and there was only 1 patient currently there so we would be able ti be seen. With that information we quickly left Aiea, Ewa bound. While on the road we made several attempts to call the Ewa clinic but nobody answered the phone. No voicemail just a "we're sorry..." message and instantly disconnected the line. We were able to get to the clinic by 7:15pm. And to our dismay, were notified that the clinic was closed. We mentioned that the Aiea clinic had sent us their way, and they apologized but they are already booked for the evening and could not take her. In addition, they said that their imaging is also not available that evening!!! What a waste of time! It would be helpful if the clinics were able to speak with each other and make better advice for their patients. read more

I am a regular patient at Braun's Urgent Care in Kailua. I recently moved so I thought it would be easier to visit the queens urgent care in Aiea as I am not feeling well and it's closer. I was wrong. I must share that as a native Hawaiian who is well aware that Queen's was created to specifically serve native Hawaiians that I am insulted and appalled at the service I have received. I called the day before to confirm what time they opened and closed. It would have been helpful to have been informed that they would close for lunch but instead I was told later that they don't have a specific time they take lunch. When I came for my visit the doors were locked. I waited 20 minutes, filled out a form to then be told I would have to wait more than 3 hours to be seen at which point I had to decline. I catch the Handi van so the entire time I spent waiting outside was sitting or standing on concrete steps. I experienced a lack of care and compassion from this facility. Visited this location for a sinus infection, less than 24 hours later I am already starting to feel much better. At 9:30am the waiting area was almost full but it was just under 90 minutes before Dr. Ruskovich saw me. I feel he had excellent bedside manner and was genuinely concerned about my overall health. I also felt all the staff were friendly and efficient. There is also ample free parking which i appreciate. I will definitely return to this location for future urgent care needs. I see many of the negative reviews are from those coming in right before closing expecting to be helped, I am pretty sure those are the same type of people that walk in to a restaurant with no reservation right before closing expecting everyone to stay late to serve them. read more

I arrived at 7pm for an ear infection that cannot wait till my appt with PCP in 2 days. It was ONE hour before closing time and was turned away as "We have reached maximum capacity for the day." I called Straub Urgent Care in Sheraton Waikiki and was told the clinic locks their doors at 8pm so may not admit anyone arriving around 8pm. I arrived there at 7:30pm and had a blood pressure of 167/107 having ran from the garage to the clinic. Never going to any Queens Urgent Care Clinics! They staff is great. Friendly and very helpful. Most of them let you know about how long you'll need to wait. For me it was about 2 1/2 hours. Once you go in and are seen it went fast for me. I only had a head cold but want to make sure it wasn't something else. Would be a good idea to call the location you want and check wait times. When it is so busy that it's an hour & half wait time no seats available, they should offer to call or text patients so that we can sit in cars or grab a snack and wait until 15 minutes prior to being called in. I caught a cold and had pretty bad symptoms but all I needed was a doctor's note so I could recover at home for a few days. I first visited the location in Pearl City and they gave me an estimated wait time of 2.5 hrs. I then tried this location at Pearl Kai shopping center and I wasn't given an estimated wait time but it did take about 2 hrs. before I was seen. The medical facility itself was clean and nicely laid out. The parking lot had a good amount of room but can get crowded because they share the parking with many other facilities in the area. The facility's sign is large enough to be seen from the main road when driving past so it's not hard to find. Upon entering, the front check in desk is to the left and patients waiting could sit along the wall on the right side. There were 2 receptionists working at the time but I wasn't greeted until one of them were finished with what they were doing which is fine because it looked like a busy Monday for them. When I was finally checked in, the lady that helped me was very patient and polite. She asked a few questions for her intake form since it was my 1st visit to this location. I handed her my ID and insurance card and they take United Healthcare Insurance. After that, I asked if I could use the restroom, and she had a buzzer on her side of the window that unlocks the bathroom door for you. I took a seat in the waiting room when I was finished and just played on my phone until my name was called. I did wait for a while and many other patients came in and out. I think you're able to call ahead and make appointments because I did see a few patients walk straight in and get called to the back right away. I did a walk-in appointment like the rest that were waiting for a while so I understand the wait time. When I got to the back, I was put in a medical room and my vitals were taken. The nurse asked a few questions then said that it'll be a few minutes before the doctor would see me and she left. It was about 6 minutes or so before the doctor came in. She reviewed my record and listened to my breathing and heartbeat. I said I only came in for a doctor's note and nothing else. The process was quick with her and I received the documents I needed. I was out within 15 mins of being seen. Overall, my experience was good and I didn't have any problems. Although they advertise Urgent Care, your wait time can vary depending on when you come in and if you have an appointment. I'm glad the patients in the room with me didn't look like they were in dire need of medical attention so the environment was calm and controlled. read more

Bought my Mom here as she had some stomach issues. The front desk receptionist was very nice. They took my Mom's Humana health insurance which is a plus. Got seen very quickly and the Doctor was very thorough and understanding. She recommended that we see a gastroenterologist and we were happily on our way. Urgent? Care?? I'm going to preface my review by firstly stating a few facts of my visit: 1. The day of the visit that I'm sharing about is Sat, May 7, 2022. 2. I was not the patient today 5/7, although I have been to this location 3x within the past 7 months for return-to-work covid testing; my mother was the person that needed to see a medical professional. 3. My mother and I both interacted with the check-in staff, medical assistants, and one of the physicians on staff. As I've already stated above, my mother needed and opted to visit this location because of her need to see a medical professional/doctor (unfortunately, her PCP at Straub was unavailable). We decided to do a walk-in versus calling to make an appointment. We arrived shortly before 10am on Sat, 5/7. We patiently waited our turn in line (social distancing is still being observed), and thankfully we didn't have to wait very long before it was our turn to check-in. The receptionist (1 of 2 on duty) was a friendly, polite, and professional young woman. She asked for my mother's ID and insurance cards, and then provided some forms for her to fill out. The wait to see a doctor was about 10-15 minutes after the completion of the forms. My mother was in the exam room for about 20 minutes before I was called in by the doctor. The doctor had examined my mother, and they both wanted my opinion on how to proceed with a course of treatment. In the end, it was agreed upon that she would also obtain an x-ray to rule out other medical conditions. In regards to the x-ray, we were given instructions to go to Queen's POB III on the QMC Punchbowl campus to have an x-ray taken. There is an x-ray machine at this urgent care facility, but there was no technician on site to perform and operate the instrument. And so, we were given paperwork and sent off to POB III. Sadly, the day goes downhill from this point on. As we were leaving, the medical assistant handed me the paperwork from the visit and said we were "good to go". Since she didn't mention the x-ray or our pending visit to POB III, I asked her if the staff at POB III were expecting us. Her answer: "Yes, they are, they know you're coming". And so, with that reassurance we were on our way into town. Upon arrival at POB III, we discovered that the imaging department was CLOSED. Yes, they were CLOSED. The sign on the door (which I neglected to take a pic of) stated they are open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm, closed for lunch from 11:30am to 12:00pm. At this point, some panic set in. But, I collected my thoughts and called the urgent care center from the lobby. I tried to calmly explain our situation to the receptionist, who in turn put me on hold to get the doctor. The receptionist had to call me back, but eventually I was able to speak to the doctor, who in turn apologized immediately for the wrong info and sending us to the closed imaging department. She went on to explain that "she thought she sent patients to POB III on Saturdays"; she then went on to state that only QMC West accepts imaging patients on Saturdays till 11:45am. At this point, it was nearing 11:45am. I asked what our options were and she stated that we could return to POB III on Monday 5/9, or we could return to the urgent care in Pearl Kai and she would operate the x-ray machine herself. She went on to state although she knows how to operate the machine, she prefers the x-ray technicians to perform this task as they're more knowledgable. So, with little to no options, we returned to the pearl kai location. Upon checking in (again), we were ushered into the x-ray room and the doctor met with us shortly afterwards. The x-ray was taken, she provided her assessment, prescribed some medications, and we were on our way (again). We finally arrived at home and we had some questions about our ordeal: 1. Why would the staff not check the hours of the imaging department BEFORE sending a patient there? 2. Why would they send a patient to a CLOSED department?? 3. Whom did the medical assistant speak to in confirming our visit? BOTTOM LINE: I was unsure on whether to write a review since I was not the patient today. However, I wanted to share my unfortunate experience with others and help them make an informed decision about visiting this location. My advice should you choose to visit this location: if you are sent to another healthcare facility, please make sure that the location is OPEN. I hope, dear reader, that your time will not be wasted and your efforts not in vain. My mother and I are unsure of whether we will consider this urgent care for any future visits. read more

First and LAST time here! 2 stars for the 2 good medical assistants there. Short version: Because the medical assistant administering swab tests was rude & rough with my 5 year old. Longer version & full break down of the whole experience Pros & Cons: PROS: Checking in was a breeze and Jacie was helpful and through. She was patient even when my 5 year old kept trying to talk to her in-between us while collecting information from me. I also liked Rona, she was the medical assistant that checked my daughters weight and height and got all the necessary information in the patient room. She was also very patient and kind with my daughter and even showed that she knew how to treat little ones, even ones like mine that would try to start a whole conversation with her. 100% would recommend those two. As for the experience with the Doctor, i felt like it was obvious she wasn't specialized in childrens care but she did do her best regarding cross elimination, diagnosing symptoms and recommending the necessary tests to get to the bottom of what was causing my daughter to feel terrible. I know this clinic doesn't have any pediatricians but my daughters pediatrician recommended going here or to pali momi since i wasn't set on making my way to Kapiolani right now while there in negotiations and striking. Anyways moving on.... CONS: The reason for my 2 star review...was due to the medical assistant Myrah. I would NOT recommend her to assist with littlest patients like mine, definitely NOT for younger children that can be afraid of getting a nose or throat swab. Mine became very afraid and started to cry, understandable & also understandable for a medical professional to be a little impatient, im understanding so i let her talk directly to my daughter. She explained to her that she needed to stay still so she could test her, but while my daughter was retracting away and still upset, She then says " if you cant stay still, ill have to get the other nurses to come hold you down while your mom waits outside". Well that i thought was a little odd but i understood where she was coming from. I held my daughter and of course she moved. Myrah again repeats herself, in a irritated tone, "you have to stay still or ill have to do this again and again". Again, understandable but not how i would say it to a child. Anyways. I reatrain my daughter and she opens her mouth tongue out, Myra begins to insert the swab, my daughter moves back from discomfort, and Myra shoves the swab down her throat. Can't really blame her, but she did pause before jabbing it further in so, you decide if thats something you'd be okay with. Now after she collected that sample, it was the nose next. She side eyes me and asks if i can restrain her for that, because she needs to do 5 swabs on both sides...welp, i tried and she became very resistant. The swab touched her hand and Myra looked annoyed, and left to grab another one. First thing i hear is her and someone(s) outside say something and she laugh. Honestly could have been for anything, but to me it sounded like they were finding humor in the fact that my child was stressed out and scared. She comes back with another swab, i hold my daughter tightly and shes about to swab, but my daughter gets her head to move slightly so i was about to readjust, Myrah then looked fully irritated that this was taking so long. I felt like she was feeling inconvenienced at that point and did not want her to do the nose swab. All we needed to happen was her shoving that swab up her nose too far then who knows the consequences from that. So i asked her " what the treatment would be for positive flu and strep would be" she said "tamaflu or antibiotics" in a very condescending manner like i shouldve known this. That was it for me, i told her we'll just do the throat swab and ill reach out to her pediatrician again tomorrow. She looked at the newly opened swab, then back at me, then rolled her eyes and walked out. I then calmed my daughter down, and waited for the results. The doctor brought my after care paperwork and said she was negative for strep. No recommendations after that. Just handed papers to leave. I then asked for everyones name and left. My daughter has had her nose and throat swabbed before, has given some resistance, but we NEVER ever had this type of interaction with any previous medical assistants, nurses or doctors and always had the necessary tests done. Anyways, beware if you have small children. This is a huge no for my family. No compassion, empathy or consideration towards little humans, besides the 2 medical assistants mentioned at the beginning. I think theyd fare well working in a pediatric environment. I came here with my lethargic and sick 4 year old daughter straight from the airport after landing in Hawaii. The staff here tended to my daughters needs extremely diligently and were kind and accommodating to our out of town needs. I want to specifically mention Kala, the nurse, she was extremely understanding and made my sick daughter feel extremely comfortable. Her loving and caring demeanor turned out hellish day around. I was referred here by the queens covid hotline because they do drive through covid testing by appointment only. The lab tech that met us at the car was very kind as she went over what to expect while performing the test on my 98 year old grandmother. She was very thorough and when she couldn't get the swab in one nostril she told us that she would try the other. I really appreciate that they were very understanding of the situation. And I appreciate that get called us back as soon as they got the result. We're just very thankful that the it was a negative result, just in time for her 99th birthday tomorrow. read more

I really like the friendly Front Desk here. The check in process is fast (sometimes people are waiting though) just make sure you always have your iD for any visit. I had a wonderful experience at the Aiea Location today with Ms. Ashley. She saw me once before at another location and totally remembered me! You know how many patients Medical Assistants see and it's special to me when they welcome you back won't open arms and that is how it is with Ms. Ashley! Thank you for working so hard and going the extra mile to make sure patients are taken care of. Despite the normal wait time of a urgent care, and the front desk being a hit or miss at times. The nurses and doctors are very good when they see you. My family goes here when we can't see our PCP. The doctors go above and beyond to ensure you get the help you need. Even going as far as telling us to go to a ER when it was more serious than we thought. The nurses are kind and make sure they take down thorough notes about your visit before you see the doc. So if you can get passed the first half you're good! read more

Came here for a neck sprain. The clinic is very clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. As I walked in I was greeted and asked how I can be helped. They verified my information and had me sign an electronic treatment agreement. My visit with insurance is a $15 co-pay. There was only one person a head of me. I came around 2:00 PM during the week. As soon as I sat down, I was called in. My vital signs were taken and my information updated. Then the dr. came in. He was very friendly and down to earth. Great bedside manner. He examined me and then prescribed me a muscle relaxer for my neck sprain. I was in and out in 30 minutes. This location is conveniently located next to the pearl ridge shopping mall. So you can pick up your meds at the longs there. I highly recommend this location for your urgent care needs. read more

I searched for an urgent care near me and found the queens website, where I checked for their hours. It said 8-8. I drove to urgent care with my sick baby and arrived at 4:10. I was told they were closing at 430 and we couldn't be seen. If you are going to close early, your website should reflect that, not a sign on the window once you already get to the urgent care. read more

I don't really like to leave low star reviews but this is the 2nd time with the same doctor that I left not having a good experience. I mean I shouldn't expect much from urgent care since it's not a regular private practice.. I spent 2 hours here today and was seen for 15 minutes. The rest of the time, I was waiting for the doctor to fix a mistake or do something she forgot to do. NOT so urgent and NOT so much care. read more
