Coffee wasn't good, place doesn't look like the pictures, service isn't great either. Wouldn't recommend

It is a beautifully design, lovely space which is co-joined with a cool little bike shop. We decided to visit due to great reviews and proximity to where we stayed in Encinitas. Staff was friendly. However, it was an awkward and disappointing experience visiting Queenstage. We walked in around 10AM and after we asked for a cold brew, friendly staff informed us it would not be ready for another few days. I found this interaction odd. How is it helpful for customer looking for a coffee to know that? Why is such basic drink not available in a tourist town? Shortly we were also told that breakfast tacos are not ready either. It was disappointing that everything we were looking for was not ready. My recommendation to the business would be take items off the menu that are not available, especially since their menu is designed in a way that makes it easy for business to do. We ordered an iced Vanilla Latte and an iced espresso (in substitute to an available cold brew) Drinks were okay - not outstanding, but also not bad by any means. We also didn't like the ice this coffee shop uses. It was very finely cut and there wasn't enough of it in the drink. Tips: Busy little beautiful spot in a co-shared space. From our experience above I wouldn't consider menu availability to be reliable. Parking is a little tight and was hard to find, but not atypical or busy summer in San Diego. Tip to the business: manage your menu. read more

I didn't think the avocado toast would be much but it was actually really good, I would order it again. Not a bad price either. The De La Olla Latte was good too, not anything crazy but good. Would also order it again. The service was quick on an early Sunday morning, there was no one else waiting before me though. Ambiance was nice with a good playlist over the speakers. Absolutely will not recommend this place. Came here early in the morning to have a breakfast. Ordered avocado toast with salmon and potato bites and tea. Food is disgusting... everything was oversalted . Salmon over salted, potato bites were over salted and over fried, they added pepper in the toast so this combination tasted terrible. Moreover it was overpriced. They charged me 30$ for that ‍‍‍ . Tea was ok. And the owner is aggressive guy . He was ready to kill me because I was slow and tried to find a parking in this new place for me .Behave himself as a soldier but in fact he is a ducky duck. Definitely stop here if you're around! Great coffee and the food to nibble on. The coffee was made very well. It keeps its earthy notes and is well balanced with the creaminess of the milk. I was very impressed with the biscuit with butter and jam. I would def recommend getting this if you're here even as a small snack. It really hits the spot and is well made. I really had higher expectations for this place. I was headed to Encinitas for the beach, and I also was craving a good coffee and bite to eat. I had trouble finding this place as it is not a visible address from the street. I saw a small display sign outside along with my navigation which allowed me to finally find it as I drove past it the first time. The coffee shop shares space with Moto Deli. As I proceeded to walk in, it was a basic design decor that could be enhanced with plants to give it more appeal. I ordered two coffee drinks and two breakfast items to try. The cashier messed up my order ringing me up by adding an extra item that I never said I wanted. I looked at the total to pay and noticed it came to 50.00! Really? I mentioned to her after looking over the items ordered that she had rung me up for an item I did not order. She did remove that from the other but it just added to more frustration of being at this coffee shop since it was not easy to find. Then, I told myself maybe it is worth the inconveniences if the coffee and food was good. While I was waiting for my coffee and food, I noticed the guy who was making my coffee was talking to a few customers as he was making my drinks as if he had all the time in the world not seeming to care about my time spent waiting as I was very hungry and thirsty. It seemed as if he was more interested in socializing than making my coffee drinks and getting my food out to me. At last, the coffee drinks were done along with my food. As I left the coffee shop I had sampled the two drinks and I was not happy. The iced coffee drinks tasted watery with no flavor. I tried a few bites of the breakfast items which I only liked one. I had to throw out both coffees and one of the breakfast items because there was no flavor. I spent a little over 40.00 to feel unhappy and disappointed. I ended up driving to Starbucks and saved the day with a delicious Macadamia Nut iced coffee with sweet-cream cold foam and a warmed Chocolate Chip Cookie. I have to say I will not be returning again. Coffee is a competitive business so offer cute ambiance, make bigger advertisements so customers can find your place, focus on getting the food out quickly by not socializing with customers while you work on an active order, make sure there is accuracy while ringing up customers, lower food prices unless the food is almost perfect, ambiance is cute, staff refrains from socializing while working on an active order, and bigger and bolder outside signage so customers are not having difficulty finding this place. Love this smaller place. It is a nice change from the usually hectic vibes of other craft Espresso/Coffee places on the coast. They used grounds from Steady State in Carlsbad, which is great. The consistency of the Macchiato's I usually order are on point, and offer a stronger taste, which I prefer. For food, I've only had the "Mr. Ham Toast", which is a great moderate sized snack or light meal. read more

This is just a pure hipster coffee shop for the vibes and doesn't actually have much substance to it's food or drinks. You are paying for brand and hipster vibes - not actually anything worth the money. Arrived at around 9:20 am which is almost two hours into the operational hours and had abysmal service. And order a matcha de la olla, cold brew, protein bowl, and a special toast + 20% tip which was around $55 ish total. 1. Within 5 - 10 minutes I received the drinks which were decent but average. The matcha was gritty and wasn't actually smooth and clean. 2. I was given the wrong order around 20-25 minutes in and it took around an additional 15-20 minutes for the order to be corrected. It should not take that much time for an order to be corrected if it's just a loaded toast with accoutrements on top. The only things that actually need cook time is the toast and poached egg + assembly which should just be around 10 minutes. All in all - if you want to buy brand name - this is the place. If you want something more worthwhile - look elsewhere. read more

Delicious coffee, avocado toast is pure perfection, free wifi, really cute and cozy inside, lots of outdoor seating outside and just about the friendliest service around. It's connected to the bike shop and given the name I believe it was originally intended to cater to the bicyclist community. However, it's also great for people like me who work from home and enjoy occassionally working from a nice coffee shop. Also great for people who just enjoy good food and good coffee. Absolutely a new gem in the Encinitas/Leucadia neighborhood. In both of our visits, the staff/owners were very welcoming, eager to answer questions about the menu, and see that we were enjoying our food and drinks. I overheard them excitedly brainstorming with customers about their aspirations for the shop to add more seating, expand the menu, etc. Their heart is in it. We ordered the house drink (Cafe de Olla) and an iced mocha-- both tasty. They also have alternate milks available. About the same price as other coffee shops in the area. The stand-out for us was their unique take on avocado toast (gluten free bread available) with their otra salsa. We could have ordered a second because it was just that good, and we proceeded to crave it for the rest of the week! Hidden gem!! The coffee is great but the food is incredible!! It's all high quality ingredients. We had the lox toast and it was outstanding. Perfect about of sauce, lox, and arugula! We heard the avocado toast is great too. There are options for gluten free, vegetarian, and for meat eaters. This place was clean, small and overall a decent place for coffee. The parking is one of the downsides because it's hard to find and easy to miss. Once you do find this place it's right next to a bike shop. There is limited seating on the inside but plenty of outdoor seating. As for the drinks we ordered the 'Salted Waffle' and the 'De Olla'. I wouldn't recommend the 'Salted Waffle' at all, it was just a plain coffee drink with no other flavor to taste in there. For almost $6, NOT worth it. The 'De Olla' was much better in terms of flavor, definitely get this one instead. We also ordered an 'avocado toast' with poached egg and the 'special toast'. These were okay, they definitely won't fill you up and for almost $50 on everything total you would think it would be worth it and reflect the price. Overall, the place is okay, definitely overpriced but given the location, I guess it makes sense. read more
