This is probably the best Caribbean/African restaurant in the Bowie area. The food reminds me of home with every bite. Love this place.

They do ask for at least 48 hours for catering orders so make sure to give yourself enough time. That being said, I was overjoyed when they were able to provide a trade for me within 24 hours. It was just jollof rice so it might not have been as difficult if it had been a main entree but nonetheless I was able to pick it up that evening but ordering over the phone that day of. I had never been into that shopping center before so it was interesting to see the other businesses sharing the space. I walked in about 10 minutes before they close however I called to inform them I was on my way and was quickly greeted. I didn't know stew came with jolloff rice and when I was offered it, I declined. When the young lady in the back told me it comes with it, I then said oh yes, of course. They called it stew so I thought it was a bowl of soup lol. Turns out, you actually put it over the jollof rice and Game Changer! The jolloff wasn't overly powered with flavor or vegetables mixed within but I'm guessing that's what the stew is for. I definitely would order her catering trays from them if I need them in the future. I couldn't get enough of that rice and had to stop myself from eating it. It was a perfect base for the bowls I made for a catered lunch. I wanted suya and jollof but they only offer jollof so that's what I went with from them. Pick up an ordering was extremely easy

(Came back to add the rice tastes like the pan was dirty). 3. The plantains had a strange taste and texture. They were dry and completely flavorless. 4. The beef--oh my. It was tough, bland, and served in a ridiculously small portion. I need to emphasize the portion size again--it was tiny. When I cut the beef in half and took a bite, I immediately realized it wasn't good. I went to the counter and politely asked if I could swap the beef for fish instead. I was told "No."--unless I paid for an entirely new plate. The reason? Because I had already taken a bite. Well, yes, I had--how else would I know it was bad? Overall, this place deserves zero stars. They didn't have any drinks available either. The customer service was poor--they simply didn't care whether I was satisfied or not. They got their $35, and that was the end of it. We won't be back, and we'll make sure our friends and family know this place is not worth their time or money. As for the ambiance--it was clean, but it was clear they don't get many customers. Now I understand why.

It's only about a five minute drive away, so the location worked out great. This was everyone's first time trying Kenyan food and we were all blown away. Everything at the table was delicious. Our server Diamond was wonderful. She was warm, helpful, and really guided us through the menu since we were new to the cuisine. Her service made the experience even better. Such a great introduction to Kenyan food and a really fun group dinner. We will absolutely be coming back.

Started with a Margarita cocktail which was $16.00 and terrible. Low grade tequila and store bought margarita sour mix. Service was very slow and one of the mangers was drinking and having a long conversation with the bartender. We decided to try the Jollof Rice and Suya bites. The rice was very bland. The Suya had some flavor but seemed to be missing something. I decided to take the leftovers home but unfortunately the Suya bites got very hard overnight so were not enjoyable the next day. Since eating out is pricey you may want to choose a different restaurant to try.

But seeing them attempt this buffet concept for Valentine's Day, Easter Sunday (when I went), and now again for Mother's Day this Sunday? I actually respect the initiative Everybody is always shouting rubbish this ____, and rubbish that ___ meanwhile OUR OWN cultural foods are sitting right here in Silver Spring looking delicious and full of flavor. When I say all the staples were THERE, I mean THEY WERE THERE Amala Moi moi Pepper soup Jollof rice Fried rice Everything hot, fresh, flavorful and tasting like somebody's mother entered that kitchen with warning And can we discuss the drinks please?? Non alcoholic but SWEET, refreshing and pairing perfectly with all the food. Very family friendly atmosphere too. You can bring auntie, uncle, cousins, everybody Now let me tell the truth small because you know I don't lie for reviews The wait time? Hmmm. Table organization? They can improve that one too because people were kinda just standing around confused at moments. BUT no wahala this is still a new venture for them and honestly I can already see the vision. The most important thing for me? Their service was AMAZING and they accepted feedback very well instead of doing attitude. That part matters. I actually want to see this succeed because we need more innovative African food experiences in the DMV that push our cuisine to the forefront instead of acting like only tacos and burgers exist outside Jollof Etc Silver Spring, Maryland

I have African friends who have fed me well throughout the years and this is the portion size you would give an infant this is not what you would serve someone from your home let alone a business that you are making people pay full price for. It was also bland (the chicken) and over-seasoned (moin moin) and I'm just so disappointed. I want to give an honest review and share my experience and I don't want to talk bad about a business from our people, but this is what I got. The chicken was beautifully roasted, but lacked salt. I'm very sensitive to it, so for me not to taste it was alarming. The moin moin was overseasoned and the amala soup was less than half a cup! This looked like leftovers just added at the end of the day or a kid's portion. I wished I contacted the restaurant about it once I got it, but thought I'd be able to let it go.

It's a small, humble place--what some might call a hole-in-the-wall--but it's packed with heart, hospitality, and seriously satisfying portions. I'm not sure what the brown pieces were that were in at this time, but it was a bunch of them. I really didn't like that and it wasn't in there the first time but it was still decent and it's close to my home so I went a third time when I wanted some fufu and Egusi but this time it was no flavor. I end up having to put a little sea salt in it to spruce it up a little bit which I just don't wanna have to do. I also got the peanut butter soup with chicken and jollof rice. The portion for the peanut soup and jollof and chicken was great. The flavor was zero... a major major disappointment. I was so disappointed that I wish I can go and get my money back because I tried to spruce it up but it was just nothing to revive it. No Bueno not good at all so mad I wasted my money on that. The ambience is just basic Mom and Pop African shop. Nothing grand and the service is OK. It's just basic service. Nothing too special. Although the first time I went in there with my son and I told the woman, my son's name she insulted me by saying oh that's the problem with you Americans ... and thats the difference between Americans and Africans. Insanely rude to say to somebody who supporting your business because she didn't like my child's name so I guess that's not great customer service. She should focus more on the flavor of her food and not with people named their children.
