I ordered this food through the "Too Good to Go" app. Wait time: Minimal (less than 10 mins) Customer Service: Was greeted & acknowledged upon arrival. Food was brought directly to me once ready. Food: I was informed that it was chicken but seems to be beef as well. It also came with plantains and white rice. The portion for the price was good. What was supposed to be chicken seemed like just fat pieces so no actual chicken pieces. There was one big piece of beef (presumed) that gave me the chance to try the dish as a whole. The dish was very flavorful & amazing. The dish was spicy which I didn't expect but it wasn't over powering or too much. It was just enough and brought the dish together. This is not the last time I will be eating at Zion kitchen. The menu has other items I would LOVE to try NOTE: For reference, the portion was not enough to share but a single serving. To my understanding the amount can vary. This review is based on what I received through the "Too go to Go" app. I'm sure portion sizes are different directly from the store

This place deserves an update from me. I've never been to the restaurant and I was harsh in my initial review. No, it is not owned nor operated by W Africans but given the W African restaurants are readily available in this area (nor are they good), I order from here. Often. Very often. It's worth it. It is. No lie. I always order a few stews, the jollof, the pounded yam, the ginger drink and a couple different proteins and eat off of it for the week. It's delish. It really is, although it's not perfect. I do have a few issues... the containers for the stews aren't always filled, sometimes, the jollof is sometimes dry (it would be so nice to offer a lil condiment container of red pepper stew w/ the jollof), sometimes the efo riro is too spicy and not made w/ enough crawfish. I've ordered maybe 30x since this review (maybe more). I'm not a hater, I promise. I just prefer authentic cuisines that are made by those of that culture. Given no options, this is close enough.

I finally ate with my hands. Mark recommended Egusi with yam because I'm vegan. It was perfect. First time African food eater here. Clean place, nice atmosphere and good people. Hibiscus drink was good too.

We ordered delivery: egusi soup with goat and pounded yam, jollof rice with croaker, sans porridge, and a small side of stew. My tastebuds immediately snatched me back to the first time I ate West African food at the original location of Zion Kitchen on Minnesota Ave in NE DC about 20 years ago. I thought, "there's no way this is from DC, and I haven't been back since! I was so confused because the location on the app said Crab & Chicken in Laurel. The food was fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious! So, today I ventured to the Crab & Chicken spot and demanded to know who was cooking! This little Honduran woman said "me, my boss taught me how to cook!" I hugged her. Come to find out, she'd been cooking at the original location for over 10 years! She let me sample her egusi soup and the peanut butter soup she was finishing up, chef's kiss!! I promised her I'd be back as soon as I could afford it again lol. I also said I couldn't wait to sample her native cuisine! I wish she could teach me how to cook West African food, but I get it!

A produce sticker in my food.

We were headed to Amber Spice for a late lunch, and fortunately, we made it in before the 2:45pm cutoff (I called ahead to check). Since it was almost lunch closing, they did request that we place our orders soon after being seated. We already knew what we wanted to order, so we didn't feel rushed otherwise. We started with the veggie samosas ($6, two pieces), which were served with the traditional tamarind sauce and spicy cilantro chutney. The samosas were packed with the potato and pea filling and had a lightly crisp exterior. They were as good as any. For my entree, I ordered the butter chicken ($20), which is served with a side of basmati rice. When ordering, the waiter didn't ask about spice level. I did find their butter chicken to have some heat to it, but it wasn't anything crazy - I'd say a 3/10 for spiciness - I felt the warmth. The chicken was super tender and moist. I would be happy getting this again. I also ordered the garlic naan ($5), because you have to have something to sop up the curry goodness. The naan was hot and fresh; you could also taste the garlic. One basket came with four pieces (one whole naan), which is perfect for sharing. I finished the meal with the gulab jamun ($6) for dessert which came with three pieces of the fried dough balls served in a sweet syrup. My friend ordered the mango kulfi and loved it! She described it as a mango lassi, but frozen, which made it that much more light and refreshing. Amber Spice is a casual dining spot and it has the service to match. We were brought a carafe of water for the table to start, so it was self-serve the rest of the way. Food was brought out quickly and plates were cleared at the end, but we weren't checked on during the meal. Perhaps since we arrived near lunch closing, service was winding down, but we got what we needed. I enjoyed the food here and would come again. Everything that we had was not only super tasty, but also reasonably priced. There's also plenty of parking in the shopping center.

Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

Street parking is free, though it's important to check the posted restrictions, and there is also a small public lot just a short walk away. Our group of 11 had a smooth and pleasant evening. Our server was relatively new but handled the large party with confidence, including separate checks, which we appreciated. She was still learning the menu, but she offered honest recommendations based on dishes she had tried herself. The food was well received across the table. The kitchen gladly accommodated two guests with dietary restrictions, and that flexibility was greatly appreciated. I ordered the Lamb Shawarma, which had tender meat and a wonderful blend of Mediterranean spices. The empty plates around the table said it all. Dessert was the highlight of the meal. The chocolate mousse cake and the layered almond-lemon cake were both rich, flavorful, and a perfect finish. With generous hospitality, accommodating service, reasonable prices, and a menu I'd like to explore further, Olive on Main is definitely a place I'd return to.

I ordered the mussels in a garlic-wine sauce. I knew this could be risky because I wasn't sure that's what they were known for, but took the chance anyway, They came out quickly. The server also brought another bowl for the shells with a small fork and spoon. I tried one that had a broken shell and it tasted...off. Like the mussels weren't fresh off. I tried a bite of bread in the sauce and the sauce tasted like nothing. It was very bad. I flagged over the server, explained what was wrong. She promptly took it away and took it off the bill. She asked what I wanted instead, so I went basic and got the 198 burger. It came out a couple minutes later. The burger itself was really tasty, well cooked and well seasoned. It could have used some additional sauce that wasn't mayo but that's personal preference. It came with fries. They were blah, very soggy and greasy, so they were basically untouched. My advice - go simple, and it'll be fine. I'd go back again for another burger, wings, etc but wouldn't go out on a limb again with something more adventurous.
