I've been here several times, but most recently was the worst experience. Bathroom didn't have the water working, staff wasn't overly careful or skilled and I'm left with pain and bruising in my arm where the phlebotomist blew the vein. read more

They say walk ins welcome on their website. But they don't actually have a system for seeing them when you get here. I just spent 90 minutes waiting with no movement on that "standby" list. They are also apparently behind on their appointments. False advertising on their website. read more

I went in for blood work and left without bothering due to the rude service. One worker told me I already 'failed' by walking into the wrong individual office for the work. The second didn't have the order from my physician and angrily continued to interrupt me while I was on a call to his office so they could immediately send it over. I would not want either one of the workers there drawing blood from me. read more

Very poor service. Check in at the kiosk with no live person to speak with. They take walk ins but it will take OVER an hour sitting. 8 people in 8 chairs. Next person gotta stand. Understaffed. Waiting for an hour so can't speak to the experience outside the waiting. You can hear some arguments in the back and a lot of complaining by the staff. I would suggest other labs like Labcorp. I went for the blood test. The person who was drawing my blood, was lying to me about needle sizes used on me. Why??? She also missed a vein ( I have good veins) and then proceeded to "fishing" for the vein causing damage and more pain! still did not get it and had to stick me with a needle on the other side! very unknowledgeable, unprofessional, uncaring, and wrong!!! read more

Came for my apt and the door was locked. Tried to call and you cannot get through to a real person on the phone.

Worst check-in system ever. No human help available. Surly technician came out to get next customer and did my check-in which consisted of scanning two insurance cards front and back and drivers license ID. I had a confirmation code that the machine wouldn't read. It was my appointment time but surly technician had to make a new appointment in the system. Luckily I only had to wait an hour. The bright spot was a friendly capable technician Jasmine. I will not recommend Quest to anyone. read more

I went there for a blood test. I waited 15 minutes in the waiting area. The person who did the test was quick and very nice. 4 stars!

The woman who did my bloodwork was nice, but forgot one of the tests. I got a full panel and they forgot (...?) to test me for celiac which was written on the same lab order. Weird. I might go elsewhere next time and do have to retest for celiac which is tough. read more

The staff was ineffective and rude. People with appointments still had to wait well past there time. Unlike other Quest locations, that had staff to answer questions, this location kept behind closed doors with no way to communicate with anyone. Avoid at all costs. Quest Has a horrible billing dept. They have no one accountable for sending bills to insurance. Auto billing does not talk to the clinics so everything is on auto. Don't ever give them your credit card or they will charge you hundreds of dollars and not send to your insurance but tell you they did. Quest has quite a scam going on with billing and insurance. Beware of the $5. blood tests turned into $350. bill! Ask you doctor how much does a blood test really cost. they will tell you NO more than $5. a test. And while you are trying to sort things with them they send you to collections without even contacting your insurance. I think perhaps its the tip of another iceberg medical scam. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a test done that was supposed to take 2 to 3 days to get the results. The results have not been posted on my quest account or been received by my doctor 10 days later. They state the results were sent to my doctor but he does not show a receipt. After several attempts by phone call and online I still do not have the results after requesting the results be resent. When you call you cannot get in touch with anyone to discuss or it takes about 20 minutes to figure out how to get through and the people can't help you. This test I am having is very important and time sensitive but apparently they do not truly care about peoples health. read more

I went to Quest for the first time yesterday. I had an 8am appt for a lipid panel. I was worried at 8:15 when I wasn't yet called, but I was called soon after. I had the best lab technician named Hunter. He was professional and friendly and put me at ease since it is usually hard for techs to find a vein. Not only did he find it first try, but the needle did not even hurt going in! That was a first. The place was clean and well-organized. I will go there again if I need to schedule a lab and hope I get Hunter again. read more

I had a great experience as a walk-in at this Quest on a Tuesday early morning. The check-in process and waiting room queue are great. When I arrived, there were two people in front of me and my approximate wait time said 9 minutes in the queue. That wait time was pretty accurate. From the time I checked in to the time they finished taking my blood was about 20 minutes. Erica took my blood. She was very kind and she did an excellent job. My veins are hard to find and I often end up with bruising and sometimes have pain after. Not with Erica! I have no bruising at all and the whole process was as painless as possible. Getting blood drawn can be stressful but not at this Quest. Thank you! read more

Excellent service from Mechelle M. at this location. I made a same day appointment and when I got there I only waited 1 minute before she brought me back. Phlebotomists always have a tough time finding my veins but Mechelle had no problems and there was zero pain. She was also very courteous and friendly. The phlebotomist (I believe her name is Rainelle) is also the front desk person at this small, one-man operation. Yes, this can result in delays. Yes, that can be incredibly frustrating. However, she is an EXCELLENT phlebotomist. As someone who is very tough to draw, I would much rather wait a little extra and not risk having a massive bruise. On average, it takes phlebotomists 4 times to stick me before drawing blood. I once had one person try five (!) different locations on my body a total of over TEN (!!) times before giving up. Rainelle got me the first time, and it was relatively painless. Highly recommend. You can walk in, but it's far better to get an appointment. Appointment times appear to be every fifteen minutes. If you walk in, be prepared to wait a little bit. read more

This was a great experience! Super clean, easy to locate, easy check in, and actual time for blood draw was 30 seconds. The woman who did the blood draw was very experienced and made the draw literally pain free! After she put the gauze on I was able to just walk out, as she had already taken care of everything else preemptively given I had made an appointment. She likely wouldn't have needed more than 5 mins to get things wrapped even if I had been a walk in! Plus she was able to help answer some billing questions I had too. The thing about this place is that they are SO understaffed. A few weeks ago I went in to do a simple wellness screening. When I got there at the time of my appointment (3pm), the front desk person told me that their blood pressure machine was broken so I had to come back another time to get the screening done. I was FURIOUS. I had fasted all day, left work early, and walked a mile to get there only to find out they couldn't do it and no one even bothered to call me!! Ridiculous. A couple weeks later I tried to make a new appointment but they had basically no times available so I just did a walk-in knowing I'd have to wait. I went in right when they opened at 8am and waited about 40 minutes. I discovered that this place is literally a one person operation. Erica was the only staff person there so she was working the front desk and doing all of the screenings. I will say that Erica does her job very well and was quick and efficient during the screening (the whole thing took less than 10 minutes). If you're able to make an appointment definitely do that but I would also recommend calling before to make sure they can do whatever you need that day. If you're planning on doing a walk in, go early and bring a book. read more

I do not recommend this place. I had a lactose tolerant test scheduled for over a month now and received several texts/emails confirming my appointment. I made sure to be prepared for this appointment - I fasted all morning and blocked out the whole morning/afternoon for this since it's expected to take 4 hours. this morning I walked into the office and they told me that Quest Diagnostics doesn't offer lactose tolerant tests anymore. However, they've known about this since November and failed to inform me. This office is unreliable and I hope that no one else goes through the awful experience that I went through. read more

This is my second time at the Arlinigton-Ballston Quest Diagnostics PSC and both visits have been positive experiences. Neither time have I had to wait later than my scheduled appointment time. The facilities are clean and modern and very conveniently located for Northern Virginia. Years ago when I lived in the city, I had previously visited multiple Washington, DC locations. Both times I had a significant wait past my appointment time and one visit the technician had a lot of difficulty with my order. Quest Ballston provides a far superior office and patient experience. Blossom (phlebotomist) and Erica (helped with reception and support) were both incredibly thoughtful and the blood draw was painless and quick as they walked me through each step. Overall, a very pleasant experience with very good people. I'd highly recommend both technicians - and this facility - to anyone in the area who has a quest requisition. read more

Came here on a short notice without an appointment to get some bloodwork done. Got here right when they opened at 8am. There was already a line of people (as expected). It took about 45 minutes to get to me. The staff on site was definitely short a few people. For the amount of volume they pump out in the morning - they had the lab technician running back and forth between the front desk and performing technical work. Probably a recipe for disaster due to the amount of multi-tasking needed but to give the employee some credit - she seemed on top of it and not phased by the line. Would probably come again due to the proximity of the location but they could use some additional hands to help out on site. read more

Yet again another great experience. Yes getting an appointment is not necessarily easy if you want last minute first thing in the morning, but just get there early and it's not too bad of a wait. What I love is the genuine kindness of the staff that work there. I have a phobia and need to lay down for bloodwork and it is never seen as a burden and they put me at ease through just being asking me questions about myself to distract me. Frustrating. I had an 8:45AM appointment for blood to be drawn for lab tests this past Tuesday, and I was on-time, early. But it was after 9AM, (late for work!), until I was called. The phlebotomist is excellent so what was the problem? Walk-ups. When she opened the office at 8AM there were 5 walk-ups outside the door. All walk-ups get their blood drawn BEFORE the people who actually make and honor appointments. The poor phlebotomist has to deal with frustrated clients every day because the main company dictates that the office opens at 8:00AM for walk-ups and appointments start at 8:15AM. The first appointment of the day is already waiting. To me the main company should honor clients with appointments by starting walk-up's AFTER the morning rush, say 10AM. But barring that, --and if you want to be on-time for work, --don't make an appointment. Just be a walk-up waiting at the door at 8AM. read more

I have been coming to this place for a wellness check up for three years now and I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. I make an appointment and am seen right on time. Absolutely no waiting. Roenel took my blood this time and she was not the friendliest and looked tired. However she got the job done quickly and accurately. I appreciate the no waiting and how great she does her job. The other lady working with her today with long braids was not warm to her greeting either. It's as if she treated the service as if people are cattle... In and out no friendly smile no hello STRAIGHT UP NOTHING! Although I do appreciate they hold themselves to my appointments all the time with zero waiting. I still think that all who works here could use customer service training. Ranelle was professional and painless! I made an appointment and was in and out within 15 minutes of arrival. I also appreciate when I'm asked to verify my name on the vial before signing the paperwork. The waiting room had current magazines and plenty of seating. I went with 4 Stars only because I don't feel it is fair to have the same person processing paperwork as drawing blood. I was hopeful that Ranelle was not the only person there all day because as I was leaving at 915AM, There were about 4 patients in the lobby waiting. read more

The worst. I made an appointment, got there on time and checked in. Was brought back and then told that they couldn't process my tests because my dr was out of the state. The woman said they needed it faxed ? Sounded suspicious so I called Quest customer service and was verified that this information was false. I was really nervous about coming here after reading some of the negative reviews. I came immediately after lunch probably around 115 on a Tuesday and I was the only one in the waiting room. They called my name after maybe two minutes but then I realized that I was missing the prescription for one of my tests. I thought they would be annoyed but they were very patient as I called my doctors office and ask them to fax it over which took longer than I would have hoped. Once they called me and they were super friendly and laid-back and even made me laugh on a day that I was otherwise stressed out. Oddly, it was one of the highlights of my day. I guess it's because when somebody is in the right profession and they really enjoy it, the positive feelings are contagious and customers can tell. My visit two weeks ago was fantastic and restored my crumbling faith in Quest Diagnostics. Last year, my wife and I had our appointments with one of the offices in downtown DC and we were both sorely disappointed. The office was notably less than sterile and the wait time was longer than expected (still less than 20 minutes, but we were used to getting right in at the appointment time). The largest factor in our disappointment, however, was our experience with the blood draw: the phlebotomist used a rather large gauge needle, causing pain and seriously bruising both of our arms. This year we traveled farther for our appointments, but based on Yelp reviews we expected a better experience at the Virginia Square location. It exceeded expectations. The office was clean and appeared relatively new. The staff was very friendly and took us in earlier than our planned appointment times. Best yet, they used a needle that was thankfully much smaller than we'd seen the prior year. Neither of us felt much pain, and not only did we not have bruising, but the needle puncture mark was gone within 48 hours. No longer afraid of Quest! read more

I took my 20-month old in for a blood draw to test for allergies and had a terrible experience. The woman at the front desk was actively unhelpful. She had some doubts about the order and I called my doctor to clarify. The woman refused to speak to my daughter's doctor so I was conveying info back and forth - it was ridiculous. I should have just left then and there. We went ahead with the blood draw and the the lab tested for the wrong thing. The results are useless and now we need to do another blood draw. I have my suspicions that the receptionist/phlebotomist (same person) did this on purpose. My experience was unacceptable. I also witnessed her being rude and unhelpful to the only other person who was in the office. I would absolutely not trust this lab with your blood work. They are rude, and are very casual with the health and well-being of their patients. read more
