Having had some major and very difficult billing issues with LabCorp in the past, I submitted the orders to Quest. I was able to schedule a blood draw within two days of my request and found the Quest Diagnostics facility embedded in the Safeway market in Alexandria, on King Street - very convenient. This was a heavy-duty set of orders - more than a dozen tests. I was able to use Quest's on-line check-in protocol the day before I visited the facility. Upon completing that process online, I printed out the QR code that was issued once I completed the check-in. I arrived about 20 minutes early for my blood draw, and scanned the QR code. Within minutes, actually as soon as I sat down in the waiting room, I was called in for the draw, even though I arrived a few minutes early. The two staff members carefully studied the set of orders, and checked, and then rechecked, that the draw would comply with my doctor's orders. The phlebotomist did a great job drawing my blood, and despite the complexity of the orders, I was out of the facility within 15 minutes. This was a convenient location, and the draw was expertly accomplished. So thanks, very much!

When I walked in, there were 2 people waiting and a guy signing in before me. As soon as I signed in, the 2 patients waiting we're already called in. I had my labs virtually and I was able to send the file to their email. The process was seamless and easy. The place is clean and tidy. The 2 receptionists at the front desk were really helpful, kind, considerate, and accommodating. I've had seen my fair share of dismissive & rude receptionists, that witnessing their interactions with patients is very refreshing. The phlebotomist was also pretty efficient. Overall, the total amount of time I spent from walking in to walking out was about 30mins. Knowing that I was risking it by entering as a walk-in patient, I knew I could walk out if the waiting area looked crowded. Thankfully, that was not the case today!

The waiting room was silent and the workers in the lab were chitchatting waaay too loud. When I returned there was an elderly man being told he would be let in next because of his condition. The tech said they were understaffed and closed the door to the lab. The old man complained under his breath he was spending his whole day there. Another guy said it had been over an hour that he was waiting. I was feeling crap because I'm sick, fasting, the heat and there was n way I could wait so I rescheduled. Won't be back.

This was all bad. The worst part? The mammogram tech went out of her way to shame me for the length of time between mamo's even when I was doing what my doctor told me to to do. The shamming was unrelenting. If you want people to come in for mammograms maybe don't shame them if it's been a while since their last one, your making things worse not better. Guess who doesn't want to come back now because you all were so rude? Me. Be professional, don't be a jerk! It's not that hard.
