I want to leave a review for the phlebotomist who just drew my blood at Quest Diagnostics in San Pedro. Junior did an excellent job! I am usually a hard patient to work with, not to mention I had about three orders from different doctors that I absolutely needed to get done by today.Junior was amazing. He is an absolute pro. Usually, I have to sit there for 30 minutes just for a couple of tubes, but I never have that experience with Junior, and this time he really came through. It was quick, fast, and painless. He was also very thorough about aftercare instructions. He is very knowledgeable and compassionate, and I can tell he truly cares about the people that he's working with and that he wants to help as much as he can. If I could give is 0 stars, I would. Junior, the lab technician, is the most unprofessional person I have ever met. I came there to drop off labs for a patient and instead of helping me, he was very condescending on things that were missing on the form. Even when I corrected those things next visit, he came up with new things to say I was missing, which he didn't bring up the last time. The inconsistency was giving inexperienced. This place sucks. First off, there is zero customer service. You walk into closed off waiting room with a tablet and a TV screen to sign in. This is the second time I've had an appointment at quest and both times their system couldn't find the digital request my Dr. submitted. This time I was told if my dr didn't re submit fast enough or fax the computer would kick me out and I'd have to wait behind everyone. After waiting and getting zero help from the staff I left and went up the street to Lab Corp. Called my dr again and told them to switch it to LC and I was in & out easily in 20min. Just avoid this Quest at all cost. The lab Corp up the street is a much better all around and had great customer service. The only customer service I got was the employee saying "hey dude, I told you... the computer". Pathetic. read more

Went to the office, you walk in this place, it is a small room 10" X 20 full of people waiting, no receptionist or window opening where a receptionist usually located in a medical office. It is like you are in a very poor third world country!!! the person shows up after knocking on the door with disgusting attitude telling me to use the I pad. I left without making any appointment. I used to be able to get my mom in same day. Now they put you in a sterile lobby, no receptionist, everything automated and you check in at a kiosk. There was one person ahead of her when we checked in, and they still weren't able to see us within an hour. We left. W Since we are there for over an hour, we know that there wasn't anyone in the testing area for extended periods of time. It seems as though they make 'walk ins' wait intentionally, probably to disused people from not making an appointment. It's a terrible model. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. My sons appointment was scheduled @11:30am Checked in a couple mins prior,notice the waiting room was extremely small so as we checked in with the kiosk we pressed the option to please notify by calling or texting us because we'd be waiting outside. We waited for an amount of 40 mins. In between those 40 mins we checked in twice to see what the hold up was, we noticed again on the tv screen that our son's appointment time had changed to 11:40?? We were confused but still waited to be called we continued to wait outside in the lobby. Couple more mins went by received no call or text from them we walked over to the door to realize they had closed for their lunch. I knocked and called continuously because they completely locked us out without COMMUNICATION. After knocking for a while feeling ignored & frustrated A nurse comes out the last door I explain to her RESPECTFULLY our situation and how long we've been waiting she then asks for my sons name and claims to have called us & texted the phone number we put down which was my husbands I explained to her that we didn't receive no message or notification from them She proceeds to say that she can check her system and I reply with "yes please just check" The nurse responded to me with "well that attitude isn't going to get you any help" I told her again to please just check, ignoring her UNNECESSARY comment. The nurse continues to repeat her self arguing with me , a Frustrated & concerned mother who just wants to help her 1 years old son draw some blood out. Eventually before slamming the door on us she says "I'm not going To be helping you guys at all". Didn't catch the nurses name but she has disgusting black eye liner & dead straighten black hair to her shoulders and a white coat I've tried calling the office around 1:10 & 1:20 to make my complaints to the manager or talk to someone about the situation but they are apparently still on lunch even though the flyer outside their office says 12-1. Like I said ABSOLUTELY AWFUL...its one thing to backed up with patients, totally understandable , but it's all about communicating with your patients and letting them know what's going on I would've been totally fine with a reschedule if they would've informed us instead of locking us out and lying about calling us in. I was fasting for blood work with an appointment at 10am There is no one to greet you and I was signed in by a computer system. When the technician came out I said hello and she did not respond. She took me to room #3 and told me that my name was misspelled and that the system was missing my order. She told me to come back as a walk in with my doctor's paperwork which I left at home. I came back and signed in along two other people. She stormed into the room multiple times screaming that she was too busy to take us in. She finished her appointments at 11:40 am and disappeared until 12 pm when her lunch hour began. She kicked us out of the facility into a cold hallway. When she came back, she continue to ignore us and call in whoever was coming in. When she took about four people she told us to sign in again. This was my THIRD time signing in. I even had to go in to help her translate for someone else. In addition, I had to help an elderly man sign in because there was no one to help him. She drew my blood at 2:15pm and asked me if I was fasting! I am 104lbs and I felt very dizzy and exhausted and had to drive back home after four hours and fifteen minutes of hell. She purposely flipped her name tag but we all know who you are and what you do to torture patients. You do not know what people go through in their lives and you are the most unprofessional and unpleasant human being I have ever encountered in the medical field. Parking is limited, the elevator is rough and it looks like it is being held together by tape. There is no staff to answer questions in the waiting room. When you do get to the back, there is only one phlebotomist to take blood and that is all they do. There is no one there to assist you or the phlebotomist whatsoever with the logistics of a squirmy child or with the person you are caring for, no matter your situation. If anything, they only make the situation more difficult by enforcing illogical 'rules'. Not only did I have to take my disabled child that cannot walk or sit without assistance out of her assistive equipment because it did not meet their standards, but I had to wrangle her in their basic chair and hold all of her limbs still. They had no stint or any other supportive supplies to help keep a squirmy child still enough to draw blood. A few simple items, provided by Quest or the quick support of another tech would have made blood draw a success today. As it was, my child was poked twice and we had to leave without completing our labs. If you are handicapped, disabled, a caretaker, a single parent with a fussy child or have any situation that requires extra care and effort, I would avoid this place completely.. or come prepared to do everything yourself, and don't expect any accommodations or standard supplies that you would find somewhere else, like a hospital or another diagnostic lab you may have visited in the past. They don't even have numbing wipes for the little kids. This is a bare bones, money making operation. Plain and simple. read more

Super quick and super easy. I had an appointment and within a minute of me finishing the check in I was called back. I had Andi take my blood and she was amazing. Super friendly and I never even felt the needle go in. The whole process took no more then 10 minutes from when I walked in the door. I've been there several years ago and my experience was wonderful. Now searching for a lab to do some tests I was looking at the reviews and at first was discouraged by the amount of negative reviews but after more googling figured out that apparently, it is normal for a lab. I guess people don't leave good reviews for a lab that often. I went to Quest Diagnostic in San Pedro one more time and everything was excellent. I made an appointment before coming in. The place is relatively busy so I can see how walk-ins can take more time. I went through a quick self check-in process (don't forget your ID, you'll need it) and was invited inside right at my appointment time. The nurse was superb, very friendly and very professional. I barely felt needle and after the blood draw discarded the bandage in about 20 min. The only reminder of the blood draw was a tiny red dot on my arm. Great service once again. Located on the second floor. You need an appointment in order to get served. You check in on your phone to let them know you are here. And you walk in and check in and they bring you in right away. Needed to get some blood work done. Needles aren't always fun. But in order to read what's going on the inside of your body it must be done. Took around 5 minutes, then they bandage you up and sent your way. There is parking out front but very minimal. Additional parking is in the back. There is plenty of parking. Extreme bad customer service. Not helpful even if they are not busy they will not see you. If you have appointment and you come early and they can see you because there is no one, they still won't see you until your appointment time. Different occasion Came in at 3:30 pm. They close at 4pm. No one was there they still did not take me because in case an appointment came in. I went to Quest yesterday and I left so upset. There were several elderly patients who don't know how to use the electronic check in method and NO ONE was helping. Me and another patient took the initiative to help because the employees would not. I understand they are busy but that seems like elderly discrimination to me. Especially since the majority of patients they see are probably elderly who have to come in for regular blood work. They were rude and condescending. I even heard an employee say "F**k" in response to an interaction with a patient. Secondly, I was asked to go to a room where my blood was drawn and then I had to step out for a urine test and told to return the specimen to the room I was originally at. By the time I returned there was already another patient there. Isn't this a violation of my privacy???? I am going to ask my doctor to never send me here for blood work again. read more

Make sure if you have more than one appointment (for example more than one child) use different phone numbers. It was a mess waiting around for different times due to having to schedule an appointment as a walk-in. I scheduled these appointments two weeks ago. Only had an iPad to log in at the office and the staff was no help very dry. I had a really great experience here. The staff was amazing! I had two orders from two different doctors. One of them did not have the appropriate coding, so they could not proceed with it. They went ahead and take my blood samples for the first order. They had stayed late when they were supposed to close for lunch then told me to come back after lunch. I even got a good recommendation of where I could go eat while I waited. I came back and it was packed with walk-ins. I didn't wait too long, since I had been there for a bit before. The gentleman at the front desk jumped through SO many hoops coordinating with the office that did not have the correct coding. Multi-tasking to keep the queue moving. After about 10 minutes on the phone, he got everything they needed so that I could proceed with the next panel. All of this so I wouldn't have to come back the next day. The bedside manner was great. She kept me talking and it didn't hurt either time when she took my blood. She got the vein perfectly and I didn't have a bruise or anything after. Just a small puncture mark on both arms. First red flag was that the female phlebotomist had LONG ACRYLIC NAILS. As someone who works in healthcare myself that is a big NO. Second, I believe the nails and the skills of the phlebotomist affected the way she drew vials of my blood. As each vial was changed, she would shove it in and bump the needle in my skin. As the vials would fill, the phlebotomist was looking away and thus, would allow the needle to push and move to the left side of my arm where she was leaning on. Never had a bruise or soreness from a blood test before until now. Phlebotomist needs more training and to comply to the health care hygiene policy. read more

Not only are they extremely rude and under qualified to be handling people's MEDICAL needs... but they're unorganized, inefficient, and it makes sense when you see what kind of crowd is inside. There's no structure and the place runs like a free for all. I do not suggest going here if you care about yourself. There's no standard to work at this place and you're subjected to transients they claim as patients in the hallways outside. On my final way out of this trash can of a facility, some bum threatened to assault me because she said "you almost hit me with the door" when she was half way down the hallway at the time. First time going to the San Pedro Quest Diagnostics. I arrived 15 min prior to my scheduled appointment and there was no seating, standing room only. There's only about 10 chairs to sit in the waiting area. Someone even chose to sit on the floor! The restroom where you leave your sample was not in acceptable condition either. Previously, I've been to the Quest in Rolling Hills which has ample seating. It's worth the extra 10 minute drive to go to the other location. However, I had a very nice phlebotomist, Nicole. She was professional and pleasant and she called me at my scheduled appointment time. read more

This is absolutely the worst location with the worst service and attitude. I came on time for my appointment and waited while the patient in front of me entered his information multiple times because the system couldn't locate his appointment. I checked in and was called a few minutes later only to be told they couldn't find my doctor's orders. I went back out to the waiting room and called the doctor' office to fax the orders as the lab requested. They did so while I was still on the phone. When I told the lab tech, she said nothing showed up and a fax could take 30 minutes. As I awaited, another confrontation with a patient occurred in which they refused to take a patient in for her scheduled appointment, accusing her of being late (she wasn't). Then they said they couldn't access her doctor's orders on their computer and that she had to have printed orders! She left in frustration. None of the other locations operated in this way. My usual location didn't have available appointments. I don't ever want to return to this location! read more

They don't have clear instructions on how to sign in and get exasperated for no reason to quickly. Rose Marie the receptionist does not know how to speak with costumers and is a little rude. The thing is that it does not have to be this way, the place was empty and they could have taken a little longer to try and help a costumer. Made an appointment for Thursday 8:45am. I walked in and only one other person was waiting. Total time was 10 minutes and I was done. The phlebotomist was very friendly and quick. This experience was better then we expected. My son was in need of a fast turnaround for labs and this was the only Quest location with appt openings. He made appt last night for this afternoon, plenty of afternoon appointments to choice from. The reviews didn't look extremely promising but no problem and he was in and out in about 30 minutes.
