Yelp Review 2026 #58: Beaver tails are one of those quirky Canadian "food inventions" that I do enjoy. They're not as common in Vancouver where I frequent. I've mostly seen them in Toronto and Montréal. They remind me of Hungarian langos - a yeasty flat round fried dough topped with either something savory or something sweet. I was having dinner across from Queues de Castor when I saw this place has beaver tails. So, I made sure I left some room for dessert. I always get the same thing: Bananarama, beaver tail with chocolate hazelnut spread and sliced bananas. The fried dough is greasy so grab extra napkins. It's lighter than a doughnut. They have other toppings and spreads. They have seasonal flavors. If you can't lock in with just one flavor, you can try the minis - smaller version of a regular beaver tail. They also have savory items: with hotdog or poutine. Or you can keep it simple and get The Classic - cinnamon sugar sprinkled on fried dough. Service was friendly. The space has tables and chairs so you don't have to eat your beaver tail out in the cold. There's a sink so you can wash your hands before and after making a mess. read more

Beavertails seem to be a Canadian thing - since I'm an out of towner, I wanted to try. According to Google: a beavertail is "a Canadian pastry, specifically a flat, fried dough treat shaped like a beaver's tail, and is often topped with various sweet toppings like cinnamon sugar, chocolate, or fruit. It's a popular Canadian dessert, especially in Ontario and Quebec." I got the pistachio nord, which they were advertising. It's pistachio cream drizzled over the chocolate beavertail. It was pretty sweet, but it was also very tasty. I visited during summer, and it was so hot inside. There was little to no AC. The line seems long, but it goes by pretty quickly. The inside is pretty with some seating. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. No Wifi Bathroom in the back. read more

After walking around Old Montreal to walk off our dinner, we decided to have a sweet treat. We spotted beaver tails and knew we had to try them (one of my Canadian friends said I wasn't allowed to leave Canada unless I tried one). There was a little bit of a line but it moved quickly. We ordered the mEHple to go and ate it while we walked. I didn't get to try it because they use a lot of cinnamon on their "tails"; I am allergic to cinnamon and was worried about cross contamination. Poutine isn't really my cup of tea, but I might need more exposure to develop a taste to it, but they were super generous with their serving sizes and the french fries in the poutine were fresh and cripsy! I went with the original beaver tail and it was great - it tasted kind of like an unwrapped churro for me and I'm glad I was able to get some of my Montreal must try foods checked off on my bucketlist here! read more

Several Delta Marriott Hotel employees raved about the beaver tails at Queues De Castor. Each time they saw us they'd ask "have you eaten there yet?!" Tonight we walked a mile to the quaint, romantic, alive nightlife location at Rue Saint-Paul and ordered the Tarte Aux Pommes and the Pistach-OH! We enjoyed it so much it was hard saving some for our loved one back at the hotel! Its decorated beautifully with bright red painted antler chandeliers, and theres a sink in the main area for hand washing. Really nice touches. Make sure you stop by Queues de Castor! read more

The service was amazing! I got there just as it opened, so I was the first customer of the day. The lady at the front was very nice, and she spoke 3 languages! The "Beaver Tail" pastry was very delicious; however, I had to take one star off based on the size vs price difference. I'm glad I tried it, but one time is enough for me. Also known as Beavertails, it's such a delicious treat. This is not your regular fried dough, be sure not to pass this up. From a far this looks like either a solid funnel cake, or a large zeppole but it's more crispy on the outside and warm, soft on the inside covered in sugar. There are rich flavors like chocolate and banana, apple cinnamon or a Killalole Sunrise which is just lemon and sugar which is pretty refreshing if you've been food touring Montreal and are looking for something lighter. There is limited seating inside and the wait for your order is reasonable. There are also photos of the selections on the wall menu display to help figure out the many choices that tickle your fancy. read more

Beavertails pastries are the best! This location near the Old Port of Montreal is perfect if you want a quick snack or dessert after a meal. They have so many options on their menu that if you love them after your first visit, you'll want to come back and try more of their offerings. They get busy during peak times, but coming to get a pastry or one of their other items is worth it. read more

It is not healthy- buttery, sugary goodness topped with chelate similar to that of Nutella and bananas. Yum, yum yum! They have ice cream that can be eaten separately or on top of the beaver tail. My family and I went to Montreal and tried the legendary Beavertails. Honestly, I thought I'd not be impressed but boy was I wrong. This was amazing, we even went the next day to get more because we were HOOKED! Not gonna lie, already thinking of going back just to get more beavertails. It's just amazing in here! The desserts are made fried to order, I got the strawberry cheesecake and now I can officially say, I'll die happy! They also sell merch for the diehard fans (like me), I bought a tuque, sweater and my favourite was the chocolate scented air freshener for my car. The place was well kept, clean, definitely made me feel at home, especially in times like these.
