As you can see from my previous reviews, I'm no stranger to the excellent service Quick Key delivers. They've previously worked on the intercom system for my condo building, but this time, I had a personal problem... Some lily-livered, no-good thief, seemed to have jimmied their way into my personal storage closet inside the building, damaging the lock so badly that it could not be locked again. I only noticed because I was finally putting all my Christmas decorations away (yes, it's April, judge if you must). I immediately called Quick Key and Chris said Ramon could be at my house within an hour. Perfect. When he arrived, this is exactly what happened... Ramon appeared, his long curly hair blown back by the wintry air we call Chicago spring. I showed him to the door and he inspected it. I went back to my condo. Now, I wasn't there watching him, but I am pretty sure that the moment I walked away he pulled magic dust from his toolbox, warmed it ever so slightly in his hand and blew it onto the lock. Because about 10 minutes later, he yelled out for me to come back. And it was FIXED. Completely fixed. As I clutched my pearls, amazed by the sorcery that must've taken place, I asked if he could do me another favor out of the kindness of his heart. I showed him to another door that SCREAMS BLOODY MURDER every time it was opened AND closed. He pulled out a can of WD-40, well, that's what the label said, but it was clearly ENCHANTED AIR DUST he'd harvested from the Land of Possibilities. After a couple of sprays, he swung the door open and the door roared a SCREEEAAMMMM, he swung it closed, and it whispered screaamm, opened again, scrrr, closed, SILENCE. In 5 seconds, he slayed the screaming dragon that lived inside of that door. I don't want his secret to get out...but Ramon IS the magical locksmith. I can only imagine the enchanted dust is given to every locksmith at Quick Key. Don't recommend. I contacted this company about two weeks ago for a quote to get a key made. They never replied so I circled back with them earlier today. The provided a quote and I setup an appointment for a key to be made. I drive to their location and get there and there is no key. I setup an appointment for the next day and have a tech visit my home. I receive a message that there will be a $200 fee for making a key for the visit alone. I called the office to talk to someone and they still won't adjust it. What a horrible business experience. Just incompetence running a business and disregard for people's time. No way 5 stars are real reviews. I'll make sure to contact the BBB as well. read more

We just received excellent service from Quick Key. First, our technician, Jay, came early to the appointment after calling to see if that was fine. When he told me he was going to do an estimate, and I said I thought it was a service call, he proceeded professionally. He quickly looked over the work, did the estimate and said he could do the work right away. He was polite and knowledgeable and worked non-stop despite the cold. While I was upstairs, he even asked the first floor tenant on his way to do laundry if he could see his key to make sure all keys would fit the rekeyed locks. He saved us (and him) another appointment! He gave us tips on what may have caused the issues in the first place with our jammed dead lock, and offered a Yelp discount without me asking. Instead of upselling, or hidden charges or anything shady at all Jacob instead walked through our property, confirmed the quote as provided over the phone, diligently completed all 8 of the required re-keys and carefully explained any implications of the new set up. In fact they called and offered to come earlier. Our technician was courteous and polite. He called when he was on his way and when he arrived. This was one of the BEST service experiences I have EVER had! I needed an antiquated, whole house intercom/music system repaired or replaced and this company rose to the occasion. When repairing it was not an option, after the first visit, they really had to put their talent to the test...present an estimate, order parts that would be compatible, with a little help from an electrician with the wiring that was already in place and fulfill my needs. It was tricky but the principals were able to gather the different components successfully and the skilled, technician , Mario, arrived on time, unpacked and assembled the many and various parts into the footprint, that was there from the old system, respectfully paying very close attention to my hopes and desires and voila, it is perfect! It was several months, that I was without my music and it took nearly a whole day to complete, but the end product is so satisfactory, I have gotten over stressing how it all would work out. Who would have thought a company with "locksmith" in its name, could work the magic of installing an intercom/music system so well? Had a great experience working with Quick Key, particularly with Mike. Our 3-unit condo building was having issues with the buzzer/intercom system, and he was able to fix that quickly by replacing some buttons. We had always talked about upgrading to a keypad, and Quick Key was able to provide us quotes on a few different options.
