I've had three visits here: 2 for poke bowl, and one for a hibachi chicken and tofu dish. Poke bowls are small for the price (~$9.50) and do not come with all the ingredients listed in the menu. Let's go down the list on today's tuna poke bowl: marinated tuna: yes. Rice: yes. lettuce: no. green onion: no. sweet onion: there was a bit of purple-edged onion but I do not know if it was sweet since I picked it off (I don't like onion). Roasted sesame seeds: no. seaweed salad: yes but literally one teaspoon. cucumber: yes, 5 pieces. edamame: yes,10 beans. pickled ginger: yes. fried shallot: no. crispy garlic: no. masago: yes. wasabi: yes. On the visit not too long ago when I got the chicken and tofu hibachi I was not really a fan of the dark-meat chicken but that is simply my personal preference. I never thought I would say this, especially regarding "Asian fast food" , but this place needs to add more salt. Everything was bland and in need of more salt. Overall quality otherwise was exactly what you expect from this type of greasy fast food masquerading as something more upscale. The beef seemed of pretty low quality, but the rice and vegetables were actually the saving grace. In addition to my hibachi beef with fried rice and vegetables (vegetables were mostly cabbage), I got a typical mass-produced California roll. It was actually pretty good. Not the worst I've ever had, but certainly not anywhere near the best. The plus side here is that these guys serve the food super Fast. If you are in a hurry, this is a good option, especially considering that the surrounding restaurants like chipotle and potbelly are always jammed out the door. Just don't expect much in the way of Asian fast food. The low pricing always reflects the quality of the food. Today I had had my first experience at Quickway and I was pleased. I had the chicken and salmon combo with fried rice. Initially the food tasted like regular Asian food from mall food courts, but the yumyum sauce made the difference. For a fast-food style eatery, this place gives you a fair dose of the hibachi experience. I would advise against the salmon - it did not taste like salmon, more like some other type of fish. The reason for all the bad reviews is the horrible costumer service. The chefs are rude and they will let you know by basically picking boogers and snot while cooking your food. Worst service ever. DO NOT COME HERE. I have come at different times of the day and different days of the week, and I am consistently given bad service. They are not friendly and are often walking the thin line of being rude. I have observed their disposition varying by the culture of the customer. Today, not only was I asked to pay 50 cents for condiments, but the cook ignored my request as he was preparing my food and when I asked him if he heard me, he looked at me cross eyed and huffed and puffed and still refused my request. The cashier had to come over and fix it, and he also presented with an attitude. They are in the business of service but are NOT service oriented. So ive been this location twice, and a handful at the Rockville location. To begin, the air is hard to breathe because the ventilation is sub par. My wife had the chicken teriyaki and I had the chicken/shrimp combo. The flavor was on the greasy side and the most dissappointing factor that contributed to the one star review was the RICE was undercooked!! Normally i go to the Laurel quickway, however, this one is closer. Last time we shopped it was the Linthicum quickway. That time we asked about their VIP card, and the manager said they didn't have any, but they stamped the card i had from Laurel. Came today, same guy said they didn't take it. They stamped it before but refused today. Another guy came over and said it was only good in Laurel. Then they both had smirks on their faces and spoke between themselves. New restaurant in a place surrounded with other options. The staff has to work out how to run the place. I ordered the chicken and tofu combination and was disappointed. The tofu was dry and spongy after only a few minutes on my plate. I ate only a few pieces. The grilled chicken was ok. My combo was served over a bed of noodles as requested. Noodles are acceptable but could have been warmer. My big complaint is the teriyaki sauce, it was too sweet. I wish the sauce wasn't so sweet. It killed the flavor of the other items. They need to reduce the amount of sugar or provide a different option. I will wait a few weeks before I try it again but my friends weren't too happy eating there. Yes, they were busy but they could have cleaned the tables more often. Hope for improvement. read more
