This place is fine dining, farm to table, growing most of the produce right there at The Farm at South Mountain. Whatever they don't grow themselves comes from other local sources. The grounds of The Farm are really pretty. There are trees and flowers and grass everywhere. There are a few tables on the lawn, and an old farmhouse is where the dining rooms are. There's not much to the decor inside, but you're really here for the food. The servers are so good, and can tell you anything you need to know about anything on the menu. When they bring your food, they literally go through everything on your plate telling you what it is and how it's made. We ordered: * Blood and Soil Garden Cocktail *Drunken Peach Cocktail *The Chef's Spread, which had salmon rillette, chevre, chicken liver mouse, and apple butter, among other delicious things *Salmon with yogurt sauce and beet puree, served with shaved turnips, quinoa, tempura cauliflower, and pea shoots *Raised pork with lentils, confit radish, brace pistachios, and plum gel *Opera Cake with peach sorbet, strawberry macaron, and fresh peaches and citrus wedges *Apple marscapone canolli with Apple spend, caramel, and celery I loved my braised pork and everything that came with it--fantastic! Hubby said his salmon was perfectly cooked, but he didn't care for the yogurt sauce. Dessert was delicious for both of us. We had a lovely dinner at Quiescence. It was nice to have taste of so many things you've never had before. The food here is "dainty" and chef driven, and it may not be for everyone, but I liked it for sure.

This place was such a fun experience. I was able to get reservations for my birthday and I would 100% recommend this for any special occasion. We have tried all of the other locations on the farm for lunch and breakfast and everything has been delicious. We saved the best for last and this did not disappoint by any means. We are huge fans of tasting menus, and this restaurant has from what I saw three different choices a three course, four course or a five course. Naturally, we went with the five course and oh my God. Everything was super fresh and every dish was described perfectly. The waiter knew exactly where everything was sourced from including highlighting the products that were grown directly on the farm. The ambience was very romantic and they have outdoor and indoor seating and very quiet and perfect for a date night. The food was definitely a highlight. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked melted in my mouth, as well as all of the other items that came out the combination of flavors really complimented each other. For dessert, we ended up getting the cannoli, and I have to say that this was literally the best cannoli that I've ever had in my life and I've had a lot of cannolis, but it was just perfect . One really cool thing that I noticed that they do with their guest is that they give an offer a tour of the kitchen and you get to meet all of the chests, including the head chef which were very welcoming and you could tell how proud they were of the work and the dedication that they put into their craft . Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant I will be coming back and they also do specific nights that are like a vet night. They told us about a like smoking event that they do different types of barbecue and brisket, but I will 100% be going back to

A Farm-to-Table Masterpiece Worth Every Penny I treated myself to the $75 Tuesday tasting menu and was transported to culinary heaven! Arriving at 5:45, I took my perfect table of one under a shading tree, setting a perfect backdrop for what would be an unforgettable meal. The journey began with a complimentary turnip soup--earthy, complex, and showcasing the kitchen's dedication to local ingredients. Next came a brilliant red onion soup featuring a tender pork dumpling and crispy pork bacon, perfectly balanced with a surprise pumpkin base. The Foie Gras Macarons were an ingenious fusion of savory and sweet--delicate, chewy macaron bases topped with buttery foie gras that simply melted on the tongue. A refreshing grapefruit sorbet with playful pop rocks cleansed the palate before the star arrived: a wood-fired ribeye so tender it cut like butter, accompanied by a golden, creamy risotto ball that complemented the perfectly cooked meat. And my favorite buk choy! Dessert was a bread pudding that provided the perfect finale, followed by a brief kitchen tour that added a personal touch to the experience. Whether you're planning a romantic date night, a special dinner with friends, or treating yourself to a solo adventure as I did, this restaurant delivers an experience that transcends ordinary dining. I left enchanted and can't wait to return on my next Phoenix visit!

    Beautiful evening

The setting is amazing! Feels like you're in a whole different world! Food and service is impeccable.

We had our five year anniversary dinner here last night and it was incredible! The service, the table set up on the lawn, and the food were all spectacular. Definitely a splurge, but we would do it again.

Every single one of our four courses was incredible and bursting with bold flavors. The service was so friendly and above and beyond.. To be not only offered a tour of the q kitchen and see behind the scenes, but for the chefs to greet us and each personally thank us for coming made me feel like some kind of celebrity- and trust me we are far from it! Just two foodies who had one of the best meals of our lives and got to nerd out over the kitchen tour. We will always remember our experience at Quiessence and dream about that swordfish ceviche! And the beautiful farm patio setting in the perfect November weather was the icing on the cake. I hope to be back someday!

Your significant other is special and deserves to be splurged on at least once a year. Valentine's Day 2026. Had to book our reservation for the 13th at 6pm. Valentine's Day menu was in effect. Fixed six course menu @ $200 person. We have been going out to eat on Valentine's Day with our friends for over 40 years. This year we selected Quiessence (the only place we have gone twice) and we were not disappointed. We were sat on the patio with two tower heaters. The women each received a long stem red rose. The service was impeccable. Each course was better than the previous one. Each dish was fully explained in detail. Halfway through we were taken on a tour of the kitchen where Chef Chris and his staff were making food with love. The evening finished with a dessert plate and a piece of chocolate. A 3 hour dining experience that you have to share with someone you love. Five stars and beyond.

We've been wanting to sample Quiessence at the Farm at South Mountain for ten years, since moving to Phoenix... it's not always easy to find availability, but we finally made it. And boy are we so glad we were able to experience this masterpiece of a resto. It is by all means one of THE finest restaurants in Phoenix - Arizona actually. Congratulations are in order to Chef/Owner Dustin Christofolo and his exceptionally extraordinary staff both in the kitchen and out. Quiessence is one of the true examples of farm-to-table and ever-changing seasonal cuisine located right in a farm. Their pastoral lure and relaxed country vibe offer an exceptional setting in which to both enjoy a remarkable atmosphere, with a serene and rustic décor and savor the exquisite feasts Chef Christofolo artistically creates, changing and adjusting constantly. From the Chef's Wine Spectator magazine recognition to studies at La Scuola Internazionale di Cucina and Italian Culinary Academy in NYC York City to the extraordinary, experienced background culminating in Quiescence's masterful offerings - there can be no question only superb comes out of his kitchen. To accompany our upcoming meal, we ordered a remarkable American Northwestern Left Coast Chardonnay and I the Guaname of Guanajuato Mexico Red - a fab Spanish-style red, with a relaxingingly smooth palate. We started our evening dinner with the Quiessence Chef's spread of local cheeses, seasonal jams, Artisan loaves and delish cured meats - an incredible array of perfectly conjured flavors and elements, a perfect Euro-style appetizer to get us started in what was to be a just short of miraculous tasting sensations throughout the meal. I had the wood fire grilled Wild Oyster - as an oyster lover, I must say, I've never experienced anything like it! I had to have two. My main course was comprised of the Chef's Potato Gnocchi Bolognese, which combined turnips, beets, parmesan and ricotta, and with fennel exhibited his incredible artistry to make a traditional dish into a magnum opus of unbelievable flavors and textures and aromas. My Wife's choice of the Wood Fired Grilled Salmon was superb in every way. The combo of chives, pea shoots, roasted quinoa and red onion made it a work of art. As a wrap up to dinner, our desert features were beyond comparison. My desert of the Apple Mascarpone Cannoli was to die for... I have never, ever had a Cannoli of such category with an incredible sorbet, hazelnuts, and Caramel Sauce - and was that celery? Wow! My wife ordered and adored the once in a lifetime taste of the bread pudding with its intense and unique cranberry/cherry/bourbon finishes! My wife finished with Ruby Port and I with an intricate Brandy - I wish I could remember what it was. Overall, both of us walked away very ecstatic... amazed at the service, attention to detail, and the simply incredible perfection in preparation, presentation and tastes that we were able to experience. By far one of the most incredibly enjoyable culinary experiences we've embark on since becoming Phoenicians over ten years ago. Chef Christofolo and staff - congratulations and may you honor your guests forever with your artistic genius and love for the profession and the bounty of nature of which you present. We will be back. Grandi avventure... live long and prosper.

Absolutely beautiful. Seed to table menu :) The chef is creative and very handsome :D Service was top notch! An absolute must for fine diners. Thank you Quiescence :)) You can trust me, sometimes it's not what you know, it's who you know ;D

My beautiful wife added to show her off :) and also show you the dining room.

Let's start this off by saying that I was never a "dainty dish" kind of guy. You know what I mean? You order a dish at one of those fancy places and then give you like a cherry tomato, few pieces of lettuce and a couple dots of dressing and they call it a salad. Yep - this is that kind of place. Not really, actually Yes these are relatively small sized courses, but they are BIG on flavor, presentation and quality. We were gifted a $200 gift certificate by our kids for Christmas last year and we finally were able to use it for a very soecial anniversary dinner this past Saturday. Picture this - you pull off of a relatively normal suburban road into rustic and homey feeling farmland. You will see rows of tree with mesmerizing lights that seems to create the effect that the trees are joining hands with glowing effect due to the lights that are string around each one. Once you park and enter the restaurant (there is indoor and outdoor seating) you will be greeted by a happy and smiling staff. The restaurant was truly a farmhouse long ago and it has been converted to this very special venue. We ordered the three course meal with both of us choosing the Ribeye steak. Understanding that this is a relatively long review, I must trudge on so I can pay this wonderful location it's due. Starter Course/Amuse Bouche: We were served a unique gazpacho in a demitasse cups that was vegetable based with a little succulent chunk of smoked Salmon within. Course 1: We had the most amazing corn soup for our first course. This soup was embellished with fresh vegetables that included a few crunchy chunks of celery. (That's my new stripper name - crunchy chunks). Course 2: The second course consisted of just the right amount of a hearty pasta dish. It was a potato gnocchi with a beef rib ragu. Just delicious. It was not too heavy or overbearing. Course 3: The meal crescendos at the presentation of our Ribeye. For transparency my wife ordered her's medium rare and I ordered mine medium well - I know, I know. That's just how I like it. So sue me. Well, the kitchen staff agreed and made it still much more rare than I asked for. But, ya know what? They know better than I do so I went with it. It was still fantastic. We ordered an Americano, which was one of the best coffees available, Lavazza. This was accompanied with Bread Pudding for desert. The ending to our dinner was magnificent. Our hostess asked us if we would like to tour the kitchen. We accepted with a little bit of puzzlement. We didn't know why we, of all people, received such VIP treatment. I know we really didn't rank higher than any one else so I'm guessing all guests are the VIP sort. Take the tour. It's very cool. And if you are lucky you will get a little surprise from the kitchen staff. One caveat - it's expensive. Like real expensive. No way around this. But you truly get what you pay for. So save up them shekels and treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience. It's worth every penny. Thank you Quiessence for giving us one of our most memorable anniversary celebrations ever.

Had a reservation for four people there on a Sunday night, Feb 22 at 6 o'clock. Four of us ordered the three course meal. We waited two and a half hours and served 6oz of cold onion soup and four cold gnocchi's. Others came in after us and were getting there entire and we were still sitting there. The waiter kept saying our meals were next. We ended up leaving and they discounted the bill. We still paid $508.40 for cold onion soup, 4 cold gnocchi's and 5 drinks.

This was such a magical experience, from start to finish! Every moment was wonderfully curated! You choose from a seasonal menu, and order based on the amount of course that you want. The chef brings out some surprise treats too! Pros: Farm to table: The flavors were really delicious and the dishes were unique, combining lots of different fruits and vegetables in ways I had never experienced. Romantic ambiance: The extreme attentiveness of the server, and picturesque location of the restaurant really make this a very special place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Definitely an upscale vibe! Cost: Let's get this out of the way, it is not cheap, and possibly a bit overpriced. However, it is a very romantic farm to table experience, and all of the flavors really pop and are delicious. To give you a range, for 2 folks, going with the option of 3-4 courses will be about $400 when you factor in the tip. Note: If you have special dietary preferences, I would recommend reaching out in advance or choosing differently-- for vegetarians or vegans, not a lot of meatless options on the standard menu, but they seem like such an accommodating restaurant that perhaps they could discuss options!

It was a 5 for me. Great attentive server that night, great atmosphere. Food was excellent despite it being small bites, but what do you expect when you are eating 3-5 course meals. We sat outside and the ambiance was perfect. It was mellow and low key. We also ordered the bread service and two drinks. Not one complaint with the food, we wanted more lol. The server gave us a tour of the restaurant including the kitchen. When we walked in the kitchen, in sync the whole kitchen staff greeted us. The Farm is the name of this place and it sits on 10 acres. In the daytime and morning you can see all the fresh fruit and produce growing including the animals, ducks eggs chicken etc. I do recommend.

It's the kind of restaurant that makes getting dressed up feel exciting and worth it, and I absolutely loved that about the experience. It felt like such a perfect date night spot or place to celebrate something special. The servers were also extremely attentive the entire night. Everyone was friendly, professional, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling overbearing. The service honestly matched the upscale atmosphere perfectly and made the whole experience feel even more polished. And OMG... the food. SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. Like genuinely one of those meals where every single bite makes you pause for a second because it tastes that incredible. I got the chicken orzo along with the lime icebox cake for dessert, and both were absolutely amazingggg. The chicken orzo was phenomenal. The lemon flavor throughout the orzo was bright, fresh, and flavorful without being overpowering, and the tomatoes were the PERFECT addition because they balanced everything so well and added a little sweetness and freshness to the dish. But the chicken... wow. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while still being super juicy and tender inside, which is honestly hard to do. Every component of the dish worked together perfectly. Magnificent is genuinely the best word for it. And the lime icebox cake was the perfect ending to the meal, refreshing, creamy, flavorful, and not too heavy after dinner. Honestly, I'm sitting here craving the food again just looking back at the pictures I took. This is definitely one of those restaurants that sticks in your mind long after you leave.

The restaurant itself is very cute and clearly designed for photos, which matches what I saw on their Instagram. Service overall was fantastic. The food, however, was just okay. I ordered the burrata and fig plate and was told they'd replace the bread with apple slices. I received five very small slices of apple, and when the plate was set down the waitress said she'd get more if needed. I later noticed I was charged $2 for an additional five slices, which together didn't even amount to half an apple. Ironically, the bread that comes with the dish would have been far more substantial. The burrata was fine, but nothing memorable. My friend ordered the chicken and brussels sprouts and didn't even finish it before having the plate taken away. The flourless almond cake was the star, a bit salty on its own, but with the ice cream and whipped cream it was a delightful combo which were the highlight. Overall, this is a great spot for cocktails, ambiance, and photos, but the food is fairly mediocre compared to the setting.

My girlfriend loved the views, but if I'm being honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. I'm from San Diego and I've seen far better. A view overlooking the freeway just isn't all that impressive to me personally. Still, I've passed this place on the freeway so many times and always wondered about it, so it felt special to finally check it off the list. We arrived about 10 minutes late, and I'll say the host that greeted us was a bit rude. We waited a few minutes before he took us back to our table. I will say there's an odd smell when you first walked in and I'm grateful that we sat outside. Once we sat down though, our waitress was attentive the entire night. We started with the charcuterie board, which honestly felt a little basic to me. The smoked Gouda was fine, but I would've preferred something sharper like an aged Gouda, and a more thoughtfully curated spread overall. The meats were okay, nothing that really stood out. On the drinks side, I tried two. The berry limeade was absolutely delicious, highly recommend that one! The traditional margarita though? Not it. Way too sweet for my taste. I don't think most Americans really know what a true margarita is supposed to be. I was hoping for something less sweet and more authentic. It is what it is, I drank it anyway (more because of the price than anything). But the entrées? Spot on. My girlfriend got the Miso Glazed Sea Bass served over potato purée with asparagus and a citrus beurre blanc. She said it was delicious. I had the Seasonal Ravioli with grana padano, white truffle oil, and added wild mushrooms on top. Incredible flavor, did not disappoint. I will say though, the ravioli plating wasn't all that appetizing. The sauce color came off bland and boring, and a little garnish like some micro greens on top could've gone a long way to elevate it. For a place like this (and the price), I expect the plating to be just as on point as the flavor. I'd say the same for the table setting, lighting and cleanliness of the table, I'd really rate that C level. Our waitress surprised us with complimentary champagne for the birthday, which was such a sweet touch. No clue what it was, but it was so good she ordered a second glass. They also brought us a small dessert that said Happy 40th Birthday for my girlfriend, which was really thoughtful. And the sunset? That part was genuinely beautiful. We got some great photos. All in all, a decent experience overall. It's pricey, and not somewhere I'd rush back to, but for a special occasion every now and then? Worth it to my GF and that's all that matters at the end of the day because it was her birthday celebration.

I searched my Yelp bookmarks and remembered a few fellow Yelpers wrote great reviews about this location. I love that you can do a reservation through Yelp, though it was slower on a Sunday evening around 5:30pm so the reservation wasn't needed. She arrived before me, so I asked the hostess to direct me where she was at. The interior seems to be divided in sections, and we were seated in a dining room area with table clothes and more nicer Italian restaurant vibes versus martini/wine bar. What we ordered: - Bruschetta "Va Bene" ($9.95): great flavor, and impressed the price point is under $10! - Linguine Al Pesto ($19.95): my friend ordered, and remarked how delicious the sauce was. - Risotto Mare Monte ($28.95): the texture of the risotto was great, and I enjoyed the flavor. A very good risotto comparative to others in the valley I've tried. - Crème Brûlée ($8.95): not my favorite, but also not the worst. A pretty solid crème brûlée and next time, I'd try the tiramisu (dined with my pregnant friend who's avoiding caffeine). I had my heart set on a vodka martini, but they were out of blue cheese stuffed olives which was a bummer. It was one of the deciding factors why I chose this place. Other than that, it was a great dinner and I'd return in hopes of having a martini and exploring more of the menu.
