For a little less than a year, my boyfriend and I have said if we make it to our one year of dating then we'd book our anniversary at Grand Hyatt Scottsdale to try both Richard Blais' restaurants as we are fans of Next Level Chef. On the day of our anniversary, we booked La Zozzona after dining at Tiki Taka the night before (see other page for review). What We Ordered: - Beginning Toast: we tried a lovely brut to toast with, and greatly appreciate the sampling even if we both settled on ordering cocktails instead. - Bread Service (focaccia): we both loved the bread service, and I really enjoyed the rosemary on top. - Classic Negroni: my boyfriend said it was very good, and one of his favorites that he has had dining out with me. - Grey Goose Martini with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives: my usual is a dirty martini, so I decided to order as they had blue cheese stuffed olives. I started with grey goose, and it was a great martini. - Belvedere Martini with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives: after my first, I switched to Belvedere as I wanted to determine if I liked Grey Goose better. The jury is still out as both make a great martini, though I forever love Double Cross Vodka that is found at Carthay Circle in Disney's California Adventure. - Crispy Mozzarella: to begin the meal, we started with this as I love cheese and what's not to love about a giant mozzarella stick?! The batter was seasoned well, and was complimented deliciously by the marinara served on the side. - Raviolo, spinach artichoke, crispy shallot butter sauce, cured yolk: our server suggested, though we both didn't particularly care for. We believe it was possibly the cured yolk that was off putting. It's a pass for next time, but we understand it was just not our flavor palate as it was executed well. - Rigatoni "alla Zozzona": A house speciality, so we had to order to try. My boyfriend chose this as his dish and I tried a few bites. Definitely a delicious dish, and he was very pleased with choosing this one. - Dry Aged New York Strip Steak: My choice and don't regret the $110 price tag one bit. This is the dish of ingredients sourced from the top kitchen if this was Next Level Chef. The demi-glace was decadent and rich. It paired beautifully with the steak, and loved the potato purée. Always see purées on Next Level Chef, and other cooking shows, so it was great to see one executed to this caliber. It truly complimented the dish and paired nicely with the roasted carrots and snap peas. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this dish if you dine here. - Tiramisu: To end on a sweet note, we were intrigued by table side tiramisu as we've had at a different restaurant where they assembled it entirely at your table. This is just scooped from a tray, so the experience was a little disappointing. The flavor of the tiramisu was very coffee forward, so it was still a hit. - Complimentary Anniversary Gelato (Strawberry Shortcake): This came out with a sparkler and an adorned with a beautiful piece of chocolate that said "Happy Anniversary." Though both of us aren't fond of Strawberry Shortcake, we enjoyed the beauty of this dessert and appreciate the gesture. Shout out to Robert and the other staff who made our anniversary feel extra special. If this was Next Level Chef, they would earn the immunity pin! What a beautiful dining room, exceptional dining experience, and incredible service team. One of my top five dining experiences in the last decade - thank you! Our one year anniversary will be hard to top, so perhaps this will become our yearly spot. read more

I'd give this place zero stars for the food, but I'm giving it one star because the service was good and the ambiance was decent. The food was a major disappointment. The menu claims the pasta is house-made, but it tasted more like boxed pasta than anything freshly made. Worse, nearly every dish lacked flavor. Nothing stood out, and everything felt bland and forgettable. The gnocchi was especially strange, it had the texture and flavor of stale bread, making it one of the oddest gnocchi dishes I've ever eaten. Across the board, the food felt uninspired and poorly executed. Given that Richard Blais' name is attached to this restaurant, I expected much more. Based on this experience, it's hard to believe he had much involvement in developing the menu. read more

The worst dining experience I've had in years., and they ruined a special occasion. La Zozzona can run over $100 per person with drinks, and for that much it's important to get at least close to what you pay for. The whole night, they never mentioned the special occasion that was on the reservation. They also ignored my seating request, never communicating beforehand that it might not be possible and refusing to honor it when I had to point it out. It took almost 20 minutes for a server to show up. In the meantime, the bussers stopped at my table four times to say our server would be here shortly. By the last time it had just become comic relief for these bored and thirsty diners. Our entrees took a long time, and our server and again those poor bussers stopped by at least another four times to apologize and say the food would be here soon. The long-awaited entrees arrived. You would think we'd be extra hungry and devour them, but they didn't taste good. This restaurant, that has a special section on their menu saying they pride themselves on their pasta, had delivered mushy rigatoni with bland sauce that tasted nothing like the menu description. The other pasta dishes were also somehow just as flavorless. I suspect something happened in the kitchen that night, because I can't imagine any self respecting chef deliberately putting out poorly executed dishes like that. All our plates went back half eaten. I was embarrassed to be hosting this disappointing dinner. Our server and the bussers were apologetic when we pointed out the above issues, so it was clear that our table was having a terrible experience. You might expect that a manager would stop by to talk at some point but surprisingly that never happened. The final blow was when they did me the "favor" of validating parking which reduced the parking fee from $20 to $10. Really? I'm paying several hundred dollars to eat at your restaurant and you nickle and dime me for $10 of parking? So La Zozzona isn't friendly to locals; neither from a culinary nor transportation standpoint. There are so many good fine dining restaurants around here. La Zozzona isn't one of them. read more

La Zozzona is truly a hidden gem of Arizona. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with kindness and respect. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and all of the workers and staff are some of the most hospitable and best in all of Arizona. The head chef, JR, is amazing and curates one of the best menus in the valley. The homemade focaccia melts in your melt and the hamachi crudo was the freshest I've ever had. The chicken parm was recommended and you can never go wrong with a spicy rigatoni. The beet salad was so fresh and the potatoes were the perfect side. While you will be so full for dinner, you can never go wrong with a table-side tiramisu. Be sure to stay awhile and enjoy a cocktail at the bar, fire place area upon entering the restaurant, or listen to the live music before and after enjoying your meal. And, definitely be sure to order a cocktail off their new build your own spritz bar. My elderflower spritz was one of the best cocktails I've ever had! it's unbelievable that an Italian restaurant could serve such poor quality meals. Even the teramasu was watery, the pasta was overcooked and the sauces were bland. The chicken cutlet was more of a frisbee than a portion. The restaurant is elegant but the prices are geared to diners who dont care about value and do not what Italian food taste like. Wow. So good. The fochaka bread was simply amazing kudos to that Baker. I had linguine and clam sauce. They added fresh fennel which I thought was pretty darn good. It could have been brought out warmer. My husband had the branzino delicious cooked perfectly but unfortunately that day the beans that they served it on top were not quite cooked enough so they sent us out some broccoli and that was overcooked. The topper of the evening was their tiramisu. If you are a Tiramisu fan this was drop dead delicious kudos again to the pastry chef. I can't wait to go back there again it was delicious. read more

We dined here earlier in the year and all was amazing. Went last night because Richard Blais was there. Our wait person, Robert was fantastic. Our glass of champagne was delicious- tasting g a bit of peach. My husband got the smoked old fashioned with wagyu washed Makers Mark was on point with a sweet smoke and clear ice. We shared the pesto burratta and the squash blossom, both were delicious. The bread service is nice too, if you like focaccia. For our salad, we each got a different option. I got the fig and beet, which was so delicious! The little green salad had a lovely organic egg and was nice. Sadly the main dishes did not live up to how delicious the rest of the meal was. I had the mushroom gnocchi was gummy and I had a hard time chewing it. The description said it came with mushroom ragu, but the mushrooms were hidden under black kale which was bitter. Needed more sauce. My son had the cioppino- the scallops were over done and rubbery, the sauce was thick like a spaghetti sauce, not a nice tomato broth. My husband had the blackened swordfish steak. It was overcooked and dry. We had the tiramisu for dessert and it was great as always. Disappointing main dishes but the rest was amazing so we will be back. read more

We were very excited to try La Zozzona as it is a new Richard Blais restaurant in Scottsdale! This is a combination of two visits to La Zozzona within 30 days. The staff and servers during both visits were outstanding. During our visit on January 28th, our server Adam, helped make my birthday extra special by offering to take our group photos and bring a delicious birthday desert for my special day. For an appetizer, we ordered the Olive oil and sea salt burrata which was served with crispy bread. Unfortunately, although beautifully presented, it seamed very plain compared to other burrata dishes typically ordered at other restaurants. We found the pasta dishes such as the Rigatoni alla Zozzona very good. A separate visit, we were offered A feast of the seven fishes dishes. My husband ordered the Seafood Risotto which included Spring Mussels, Prawns, Arborio and Foraged Mushrooms. I ordered the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe. Both dishes were good. I wouldn't say they were my absolute favorites Italian dishes I've had but it was a nice dining experience. As many high end restaurants, the dishes are small portioned. They have a beautiful small bar in the entrance of the restaurant with a fireplace. Come in early and have a cocktail before dinner. I would recommend dining before sunset so you can enjoy a view of all the cacti in the restaurant courtyard. read more

3.75 stars. New to the Hyatt and has been open 5 weeks. Waitress is diligent and serious about their duties, but is still quite green when it comes to basic dining service. They were incredibly friendly and conversational though which is a plus. The restaurant sommelier took it upon their self to approach us to recommend wines however the wines we wound up with were a touch anticlimactic concerning the story and price. We received complimentary focaccia-like bread with chimichurri sauce but the bread was very hard and possibly a touch stale. Not bouncy like a fresh focaccia, unfortunately. We also were given a welcome-in flute of chilled Prosecco, which I loved so much. I wish I'd gotten another glass of that instead of the wine. The rest of our food was appetizing. We got the Caprese Salad and Stuffed Clams to start. The salad was surprisingly a stuffed green tomato, juicy and delicious, with fresh mozzarella inside and drizzled with quality olive oil and balsamic reduction. I loved this dish. The stuffed clam was also good however a smidge dry. The charred lemon really made that dish. The Aqua Pazza was a seafood dish with a delicate tomato broth. All the seafood was prepared perfectly. My spouse enjoyed the filet of beef and remarked that the addition of the truffled Alfredo sauce really amped up the experience. Our toddler had the buttered noodles and I have to say it was the most posh and sophisticated thing she's probably eaten at a restaurant. Homemade noodles and a generous amount of velvety smooth butter sauce. Kudos to La Zozz for serving this as a kids dish! The ambiance in the evening was dark, a bit sexy, and private. However, I could see some renovation equipment (ladders, shovels, etc) leaned up against the outside window, and I feel this would be a bit distracting to the overall vibe if it were daylight hours. I'd recommend to folks staying at the Hyatt if in the mood for a modern Italian dinner. read more

We went here for my father's birthday and had a fabulous dinner! It is a brand new room in the newly remodeled Hyatt hotel and it is gorgeous! All of the staff were so friendly and our server was excellent. We sat down and they greeted us with cards wishing a happy birthday as well as a glass of bubbles to start. Excellent touch! The attention to detail is there and it is so refreshing to sit at a table and experience hospitality the way it should be done. The food was excellent. We started with the mozzarella, meatballs and beet salad. All delicious. Next we had raviolis. I had the swordfish which was superb!! Mom had the veal and my father had a seafood dish. Don't forget the fries! Last but not least, was the amazing tiramisu. The best I have ever had! Hands down. We are coming back and I am taking better pictures. Btw- the Prosecco was fabulous. The newly renovated resort and new restaurant has a modern and sleek look. Our server was great and very attentive, as well as the bussers. HOWEVER...the young, blonde hostess was incredibly dismissive and rude on the evening of January 5. She told us there was a 20 minute wait, however there were only 4 tables of patrons throughout the restaurant. Because of the wait I immediately made an online reservation and went back up to the hostess and was able to be seated. She then proceeded to seat us in the corner by the exit, although there were plenty of tables in the middle of the restaurant. The impression she gave was petty games and superiority. read more

I found myself in Scottsdale, Arizona looking for dinner and wound up at La Zozzona. The "hotel restaurant" is never my first choice because they're usually not good and overpriced. But La Zozzona is clearly the exception. One by one, the dishes came out - house made Foccaccia with olive oil and pesto, fried squash blossoms, crispy but not greasy, Roman Fry Bread and meatballs, but my favorite was the Mozzarella Stick, which is more like a Mozarella Bat because it was the size of my forearm - dipped into a perfect marinara sauce, I would have been happy if that was my entire dinner. But the highlight was Neptune's Swordfish Chop - a HUGE slab of swordfish on the bone, blackened with black lemon, garlic, black pepper, oregano, sicilian olives, cherry tomato and capers. Each bite was soft and tender, not fishy, and perfectly cooked - the last bite was as juicy as the first. Very inventive and tasty. And a visit with Richard Blaise himself never hurts - he graciously came by our table and even took us to the kitchen to introduce his staff. They're awesome! Shout out to Paul who helped us through the menu and even took a group photo of us. If you ever find yourself in Scottsdale, Arizona, you should try La Zozzona - it's well worth it! read more

We were very excited to try a Richard Blais restaurant for our 28th wedding anniversary. We had been seeing videos from here and were eager to try it. Unfortunately, we came on a 6/27/26 the Saturday night 3 days before they were changing their menu. We were told they were out of 4 dishes (2 of which we had already planned on having). Then we ordered a plum & beet salad, and they were out of beets. Then we ordered the lamb shank, and the waiter came back embarrassed that they were also out of that. We had to go from the $65 lamb dish to a $110 steak, just to get some meat. At that point, there really was no recovering from the disappointment. Service was great, but there is only so much they can do. In full transparency they did comp our water and 2 salads, but nothing would have saved the experience. The Cioppino was really good and the steak was mediocre. No mention of our anniversary that I put on the Open Table reservation, but I guess it's possible that Open table didn't communicate that. read more

I was skeptical of La Zozzona because it seems that generally celebrity chef restaurants are more about the name behind the restaurant rather than the food, but I really enjoyed La Zozzona. All of the food was delicious and the service was great. First we were welcomed with a complimentary glass of prosecco, which is always nice and complimentary bread and oil that was so good. I think the oil had a little hint of lemon to it that was a nice touch. We then started with the squash blossoms and little gem salad. The squash blossoms were amazing and had a really nice light filling. I really liked the salad too, but I could see some people wanting it to be a little less dressed or less salty. For our main dishes we split the rigatoni and chicken Marsala. Both were amazing. The pasta is all fresh made in house and had great texture and flavor. I also loved that there were a lot of mushrooms with the chicken Marsala. You can tell it's good when they offer those mushrooms as a separate side for any of the dishes. The side that was recommended to us and what we decide to get was the carrots. We really liked those but there weren't that many for two people to split as a side. Lastly I couldn't pass up an affogato for dessert and it was the perfect end to the meal. read more

The place is nice but it's hidden away in the hotel. The music was very loud like if you were on a club. Where we weren't able to have a decent conversation at the table without yelling to be heard even while we were in the private room over looking the kitchen.We were a party of 6. We had the focaccia bread it was very fluffy and warm and the oil pesto dressing was good it gave it that extra oomph. The braised artichoke was amazing. The Branzino was so good. It had a crispy skin, flaky inside, the olive tapenade was perfect with the fish it give it that zest. The seafood Saffron was good but it seemed like something was missing. Everyone in our party liked what they got. The French Fries Alfredo was ok I could have done without the Alfredo part it was too heavy. The Squash Blossoms were good, crispy with a gooey inside. I didn't the Arancini since it mushrooms but everyone liked them. Sqash Angolotti was good but heavy and filling. The place is kind of hidden in the corner downstairs away of everything in the DoubleTree hotel. read more

My wife and I were really excited to try this place mainly for the giant mozz stick. The started was homemade focaccia and it was great but honestly probably the only notable food item we had. We had the crispy mozzarella, the caprese, the cavatelli and the rapini. The caprese looked good in photos but it's as if they took a very cold sad tomato, cut it into four parts, stacked it to look cool and put very subpar oil and balsamic on. Difficult to eat - they took a very basic thing and tried too hard to dress it up The cavatelli came and it looked very unusual, the flavor was good but again with the presentation, it was just too extra The rapini was just so sad, nothing notable lol The crispy mozzarella is what I presume they are lightly known for considering a viral tik tok which is definitely a good way to get people in the door however the execution fell flat; once again prioritizing presentation over flavor. It's very exciting to see a ginormous stick of fried cheese arrive to the table however upon cutting it open the cheese was firm and not warm. The flavor and breading were great, super creative but after a few bites I asked the server if it was supposed to be fully melted like a traditional mozz stick and he confirmed and took it to the back. I received a replacement and the cheese was the exact same. Once again, if you are going to take a very simple thing like a mozzarella stick and put your own spin on it and make it literally ginormous, it has to be executed correctly. read more

My wife and I have been lucky to visit many "Michelin Star" restaurants, but it is rare that every plate we eat at a restaurant is a true "5 out of 5" stars.  We found La Zozzona to be incredibly impressive and truly one of the best. Every plate was (for the lack of a better word) perfect.  For starters the "Crispy Mozzarella" may seem boring or typical, but let me tell you...you have not had a Mozzarella stick like this. The outside is perfectly cooked to be just a bit crunchy and the inside melts in your mouth. 5 out of 5. For main courses, I can vouch for the Swordfish, Veal Chop, and New York strip. Again, all are 5 out of 5.  The Veal Chop is one of the best veal plates I've ever had. Lightly breaded and crunchy on the outside but tender and savory on the inside. This was my favorite.  The Swordfish is huge. You might need 2 people to finish it. It's prepared to mimic the look of a large steak. Bite into it and you'll get a burst of flavors that is unique yet brings out the best characteristics of a Swordfish chop. The New York steak was my biggest surprise. I was a bit skeptical at first when they brought out the steak covered in flakes of cheese as I typically like my steak to stand alone. But the seasoning and truffle combine to make the New York Steak really stand out. It's a unique take on a NY strip but at the same time, it gives you the typical NY Steak taste. You'll just have to try it to understand.  Need a drink recommendation to pair with all this incredible food? Try the Amalfi Margarita- A perfect blend of limoncello and Tequila Finally, for dessert the best option is the Tiramisu. Typically I'm not a huge fan of Tiramisu and would usually choose another dessert, but this Tiramisu is soaked in rum and served super moist. Bottom line - this place lives up to the hype. Everything I tasted was 5 out of 5. read more

The service was as good as previous visit. I got to try a few different dishes this time. The celery and romaine hearts salad is my favorite. It's light,refreshing and full of umami at the same time. I'm not sure what kind of anchovy they used because it tastes different (in a good way)than what I had before. It's rich but not overly salty. Overall it doesn't taste like a pre-packed salad you can get from a supermarket. The stuffed clam is little on the salty side due to the pancetta but it goes really well with the complimentary focaccia. Lamb ragu lasagna is really well made with perfect amount of tanginess which makes it less heavy. Chicken Marsala is a little surprise. The meat was marinated perfectly with such tender and succulent texture. That Marsala sauce is amazing! I should have ordered a side of potatoes to go with it. read more

La Zozzona lives up to to the hype. We started with fresh foccacia bread and a basil pesto to spread. We then enjoyed the polpettes and squash blossoms. Both were excellent, the squash blossoms are a must. We had olive oil and sea salt burrata with a side of toasted bread. The burrata was fresh and chilled - there was enough left over to enjoy with our pasta dishes. We enjoyed the lamb ragu lasagna and the rigatoni alla zozzona topped with lobster. Both amazing. We had the chocolate hazelnut for dessert which is perfect for anyone who enjoys a Ferroro Rocher. Can't wait to come back! The service was outstanding. We were able to get the chef's table as we had reserved for 5. We were glad to be out of the noise of the main room. Service overall was great and attentive with refilling waters, meeting our needs. Dessert took a while, but was delicious. The only miss was the waiter delivered us the wrong burrata (plain), but let us have that as well as the pesto burrata. We were welcomed with sparkling wine or juice, which was a nice touch and complimentary focaccia which was good, if a little bland. The pastas were ordered were fresh with flavorful sauce. We loved the alfredo fries, rosemary potatoes, my wife enjoyed the American cocktail. We enjoyed our time there, the service was friendly, and would go again to try other items. read more

My boyfriend and I went here on June 21st for a late birthday dinner and everything was fantastic. We got the meatballs, giant mozzarella stick, fries with black truffle alfredo, carbonara, the house zozzana pasta, and chicken marsala. We kinda wanted to try it all lol. Juan Carlos and Adam were spot on with their recommendations and the service was absolutely out of this world. Give these two men a raise! This place is a rip off. The portions were so small. It was insulting. Ordered the Hamachi Crudo and the entire dish was one bite for $17. Rigatoni was cold butternut raviolis were served in a 1 inch deep pond of butter. Frito miso was subpar. Brussels sprouts were soggy and way over steamed. Wine selection was good but overpriced. Went here for a birthday dinner and let me tell you it was incredible! I've heard nothing but great things from this place and decided to give it a try and it's worth all the hype! This restaurant popped up on our tik tok. My wife and I took our 7 year old and 1 year old. My wife is vegetarian and the agnolotti entree was great. I was hungry and wanted something heavy. The lamb lasagna was the best I ever had. My son had the spaghetti which he's picky about but loved it. My 1 year are the rosemary potatoes and he enjoyed it. I ended it with a latte. Didn't have time for dessert this time. Service was spot on. Especially with kids making a mess they did let the kids feel any less than a regular patron. I don't leave a lot of reviews but as tired parents they wanted a nice romantic evening La Zozzona won our hearts. read more
